I can't believe US citizens are letting this happen. Government buying up toxic debts is simply a transfer of debt from wealthy bank and company owners (the rich) to the public purse (the people).

It's NOT TOO LATE to let the banks fail. Some money will be lost but the letting the banks fail will be like putting the stopper in the bathtub - the losses will end.

The government can guarantee accounts up to 150,000 and let all insolvent banks go under. The gain to the real economy will come quicker (say in two years) instead of the 5 year dropoff that will occur if the current process continues.
