Much of Lebanon is in ruins, but not just due to the recent troubles in the refugee camps. If Britain had not helped to block calls for a ceasefire on 26 July 2006, far less of the country would have been blown to bits by Israeli jets. Instead of pressing for peace, the UK helped block it at time when every extra day was costing lives.
