if i made a graphic novel, how do i resize the pages on my word document format so the page won't be in the center and its surrounded by white? will lulu fix that problem for me?
@kaorushima99kyou Go Page, Format, type in the size you picked at the start of Lulu's publishing queue. If you mean bleed photos, lulu's industry standard page has more information about that.
I'm so using this. I'm workingon a book right now. I'm not going to say the name or anything so I don't get it stolen. But its based off a young boy that goes to a strange world. And has to protect not only the world that he went to but his world also
Question. When I look to publish the book, typing the name, choosing what paper it is, blah blah blah, and I want to sell it on the lulu website but I don't want to order a copy myself, No. I just want to sell it. Do I still pay for people buying copies of my book???
You dont actually have to buy a copy yourself as long as you only want to sell it through Lulu, but if you don't buy a copy you can't be sure the book is going to be made properly. It hardly costs anything to buy your own copy though, like £3 or $5 for one copy.
Oh I see, no that's the beauty of Lulu (and Createspace) they take care for all that for you. Example, say your book costs £8, they take £4 for the cost of printing the book and you get the other £4 in revenue - that's if someone buys it direct from them. If it goes through a 3rd party distributor like Amazon or a bookshop then you get a much lower revenue because that 3rd party has to get paid, of £8 you get about £1.20 per copy.
(You also have to pay a one off £50 fee to get your book into the distribution system, whereas if you just sell from Lulu its free.) But its fair enough that the 3rd party gets paid because they are selling it for you. If you have a higher cover price I think you can get larger royalties, but then you would be pricing yourself higher than copies published by a publishing house which might make your book uncompetitive. In any event the success of your book is down to promotion.
I would like to self-publish my book, but I don't know if you need like a credit card, or you can do it just like that. Because most of parents will be like "No! Don't do that! Lulu's employees will come to kille you!" something like that... DX
Hi - I just published my 7th book on Lulu. LOVE IT and highly recommend to my writer friends:-) I sent you a video I posted on YouTube of the book launch.
