to me smoking in "moderation" is no more dangerous than joining the military or riding a motorcycle. I mean, if everyone wanted to live long all they have to do is never go in the sun, live only where there is no car exhaust, don't have a job (to eliminate stress), never drink anything but water, never eat any meat just bean sprouts and greens, never use salt, never use sugar, don't play any sports (to many injuries), yeah, there is all kinds of things that can make you live longer

@inkey2 You're right about the cigarettes. Centuries ago people had so many other things to contend with that it was just as easy to smoke it from a pipe or use a pinch of snuff. I used the wrong words but tobacco use has been mentioned back as far "700B.C. to 1200A.D.) the ancient Mayans of 700B.C. to 1200A.D.

My mom was a medical secretary, late 1940s, & started smoking as the DOCTORS offered her cigs, to be polite. Lung cancer killed her in1987 at age 61, six weeks before my dad was due to retire, They'd scrimped & saved 100 grand to travel the world for the next 10 years. Mom's only trip was on a stairway to heaven. So many questions I never got to ask, I miss her . . . . .

Ive been smoking for 40 yrs and i like my camel non-filters best....i think the fiberglass in filters is bad for you...i wanna quit but cant...when i started they were 35 cents...that was also the price for a schools lunch....things have changed!!!

I listen to old-time radio on the net once and a while and cigarette commercials just like this one used to run all the time because the tobacco companies were often the chief sponsors. It's very interesting to see how far public perception has shifted in 60 years.
