Airi is a very reserved girl and people appreciate her for not trying to be otherwise. Even her awkward gestures and plethora of puns seem to be a meager attempt of being idol-like, but does she really need it? She's fine the way she is for most people, as her popularity and sales would suggest.
I understand TheHobgoblyn's perspective as someone coming from traditional idol fare, but he has to understand that Airi is simply different. She tries her best and it shows in her singing and dancing.
She even makes Momoko act more serious then she usually is. This might be one of the reasons why Buono! keeps on being interesting since they can be a bit different then when they are in Berryz or C-ute. Airi isn't the clear ace, Momoko isn't the class clown and Miyabi can be a bit more silly then her usual self.

I don't know, I think that perhaps Airi knows that she gets way more attention than the other girls do when it comes to lines and camara-attention; so she tries to step aside from these kinds of videos and live conversations. I feel that she is a very warm and humbled girl, and getting that illogical much attention from H!P turns out to be uncomfortable for her. Therefore, she tries to give the others more space to shine.
@MeikUp You are so right. But despite the fact that she gets the most attention, Momoko and Miyabi never judge her. They're very kind to her, and accept the fact that she's a very popular idol in H!P. All of the three Buono! members are very supportive to each other, though I have to say that Airi has been my favorite since the beginning.

@TheHobgoblyn Aside from your rather immature Airi bashing which would better be suited to a 12 year old (sorry to all the more mature 12 yos...) every group needs a mix. Nochiura Natsumi had the 3 best HP vocalists, center egos who didn't like each other. And it didn't work. Some people worship Momochi's liveliness, others think she's hyperactive and unnerving. You think Airi's boring, others think she adorable and warm. It's a matter of taste. But calling someone useless is an absolute no-no.

Airi choose Buono! no theme as the second but Miya is hesitating with DEEP MIND. They choose Nakimushi Shounen as the 3rd song of the setlist, they said they already started practicing for the tour and they ask us to look forward to it.

Even backstage Airi is pretty useless and can just sit around looking cute and take orders from the other two. At least Miyabi actively contributes. It's a good thing for her that she's got Momoko telling her what to do.
@TheHobgoblyn Airi's really useful in all aspects. All of the Buono girls are. Without any one member, Buono isn't buono. Anyways, you can't say she's useless since she does sing just as many lines (actually slightly more lines) as the other Buono! girls. I mean, you may hate her for getting all the lines she does, but that's part of Buono!- all of the girls getting lots of lines. It's rather insulting and infuriating that anyone should call any other human being useless in the first place.
@2greenlimes Buono! and other idol groups don't write music, don't play instruments, don't choreograph their performances, make their costumes, book their venues, do their own marketing... when it comes down to it, there is only one thing that makes them anything more than glorified karaoke girls.
That's their ability to act, to perform, to create an exaggerated persona that can do things a real person would be too shy and introverted to do. And Airi fails at this. So what is she doing there?

That is what "kawaii" literally means (not "cute" as most people seem to think). An idol MAY be adorable because of their constructed persona, but they may also be adorable because of their looks, their talent, or their natural personality quirks.

@TheHobgoblyn There's nothing wrong with vanilla. Sure, it's not as *uncommon* as candied bacon or caviar ice cream, but its appeal lies *in* its simplicity, not despite it. Miya's "sexy-cool" personality and Momo's "burikko" personality are also super-common. It's unfair to make Airi sound like a scoop of vanilla in between Rocky Road and Mint Chocolate Chip, when in reality Buono! is more like Neopolitan--three good basic flavors that can pull off any style.

Its a matter of noticing that Buono! is a completely obscure group that no one at all knows about and the more the focus is on the one who has nothing good to say and is less and less interesting the more one knows about her, they will continue to be entirely buried under AKB and the other cities' versions of them.
If you want the group to succeed, you must be critical towards its failings.
@TheHobgoblyn Look, the MUSICAL focus has been on Airi for all of five singles, if by *focus* you mean a couple extra lines and a twenty-second monologue. The albums are crazy evenly-distributed. The VIDEO focus (interviews, makings of, etc.) has been on Momo and sometimes Miya, rarely Airi.
If that's not good enough, Berryz Koubou has all the Miya and Momo awesomeness *without* all the ~less and less interesting~ Airi "failure". Focus on that group's success instead. :D
@every9105 My point was not that there is too much focus on Airi at all. Rather that she doesn't seem to be able to play her role and seems to nearly need to be forced to participate. She should have learned SOMETHING over the past 9 years.
Half of Berryz Kobou might actually be worse than Airi though. Two thirds good is better than one half. Plus they don't get half as many good songs as Buono, instead often focusing on things that are a bit too weird or silly to hope to catch on well.
I get it. You think personality is everything (it's not), and dislike Airi's personality. You want it to be a carbon copy of Momo's (it's not happening). Most Buono! fans--the real ones that keep the group running, not the imaginary ones you *think* they'd get if Airi was somehow NOT HERSELF--like this.
If you want to keep going, do a blog or video response and link people to it--no use clogging up comments.

All of H!P is getting buried by AKB and if they keep trying to be safe and dull, they will continue to fail SPECTACULARLY and Airi is the example of the sort of failure H!P pushes and will soon end because of. She needs to be better than herself.
And one hardly needs to be a carbon copy of Momoko. AKB relies HEAVILY on Takahashi Minami who has the same skills as Momoko, but couldn't behave more different.
@TheHobgoblyn Have you sat down and watched through an entire H!P concert? From the start, Airi easily outdances Chisa and Risako + outsings Nakky and ManoEri. By the encore call, she's the strongest performer standing (barring maybe Maimi, Reina, and Gaki). As for Airi not being able to work an angle: right. That explains the multiple PB's, the fact her solo PV versions tend to have double the views of others', and that newbies like Riho and Mayuyu admire her photo shoot skills.
@every9105 I've watched over 20 H!P concerts over the last 9 years and I'll tell you this much... prior to being included in Buono! I had no idea who Airi was and half the time couldn't tell her apart from Saki, Erina or the other C-Ute members who ended up leaving and whose names I don't even remember. This was true even seeing C-Ute featured in over a hundred videos and TV programs. She never struck me as worth a second thought and she had plenty of chances to change my mind.
@TheHobgoblyn Sounds like you're not into C-ute. Which is fine, but you should realize it makes your attempts to rank Airi's performance skills...not really work.
C-ute and Buono! both had their major debut in 2007. Even after a year-long indie run, half of C-ute still needed breaks in between songs and lip-synched. Airi didn't. Even Momo admitted in an early Buono interview that she looked to Airi to find center pitch. You can hate Airi, but you can't call her unqualified.
@every9105 While it was true that I wasn't into C-Ute, it's not like I began with a bias. All the H!P kids started on the same level to me, all tiny little things with no talent and no clear reason Tsunku recruited a massive amount of elementary students in the first place. They were featured on the shows and such, so I watched them... and only a few of them stood out as distinct enough that I have learned to easily recognize them and learned their names first. Airi was not one.
@PennyxPamoon sure they would lose fans but theres momo and miyabi has enuf fans to keep plp interested..and Airi having the best voice? i dont think so..i think all 3 girls have equal amazing voices.
@TheHobgoblyn I agree that Airi is WAAAAAY over rated, but that's not enough to consider her useless. She just gets so much unnecessary attention (including monopoly of solo lines in c-ute and buono) and tbh I just get tired of seeing her face all over the place. But she's still apart of H!P and buono, etc. I just wish she'd be a lot *less* apart of it if you know what I mean.

基本はホール紺と同じで、グッズ購入のため1時間位前には現場へ
あとスタンディング前方は結構キツイので、個人的には中盤後方の見やすい位置がオススメ
スロープになってる通路が穴場。まぁBuono!はライブでこそBuono!だから、楽しんできて！

例えばポケットに財布とかいれて参戦するのは危険とか、グッズでどうしても欲しいものがあれば早めにとか TシャツはSサイズが売り切れやすいとかなどいろいろありますが・・
わからない事はツイッタのアカウントあるならそこで または狼板でもうすぐしたら「一人で行くBuono!ライブ2012REAL」みたいなスレッドがたちますから そこで聞けばほとんどの事は親切に教えてくれますよ

It's unfair to make Airi sound like a scoop of vanilla in between Rocky Road and Mint Chocolate Chip, when in reality Buono! is more like Neopolitan--three good basic flavors that can pull off any style.

But if you want her to change or to see her out of Buono, ok, go and try to do it ;)

@PennyxPamoon Yeah, its not a matter of me being in charge of anything. Its a matter of noticing that Buono! is a completely obscure group that no one at all knows about and the more the focus is on the one who has nothing good to say and is less and less interesting the more one knows about her, they will continue to be entirely buried under AKB and the other cities' versions of them.
If you want the group to succeed, you must be critical towards its failings.

@TheHobgoblyn Look, the MUSICAL focus has been on Airi for all of five singles, if by *focus* you mean a couple extra lines and a twenty-second monologue. The albums are crazy evenly-distributed. The VIDEO focus (interviews, makings of, etc.) has been on Momo and sometimes Miya, rarely Airi.
If that's not good enough, Berryz Koubou has all the Miya and Momo awesomeness *without* all the ~less and less interesting~ Airi "failure". Focus on that group's success instead. :D

@every9105 My point was not that there is too much focus on Airi at all. Rather that she doesn't seem to be able to play her role and seems to nearly need to be forced to participate. She should have learned SOMETHING over the past 9 years.
Half of Berryz Kobou might actually be worse than Airi though. Two thirds good is better than one half. Plus they don't get half as many good songs as Buono, instead often focusing on things that are a bit too weird or silly to hope to catch on well.

I get it. You think personality is everything (it's not), and dislike Airi's personality. You want it to be a carbon copy of Momo's (it's not happening). Most Buono! fans--the real ones that keep the group running, not the imaginary ones you *think* they'd get if Airi was somehow NOT HERSELF--like this.
If you want to keep going, do a blog or video response and link people to it--no use clogging up comments.

@every9105 If you don't want to reply to me, I won't reply to you. But you are wrong. All of H!P is getting buried by AKB and if they keep trying to be safe and dull, they will continue to fail SPECTACULARLY and Airi is the example of the sort of failure H!P pushes and will soon end because of. She needs to be better than herself.
And one hardly needs to be a carbon copy of Momoko. AKB relies HEAVILY on Takahashi Minami who has the same skills as Momoko, but couldn't behave more different.

@TheHobgoblyn Have you sat down and watched through an entire H!P concert? From the start, Airi easily outdances Chisa and Risako + outsings Nakky and ManoEri. By the encore call, she's the strongest performer standing (barring maybe Maimi, Reina, and Gaki). As for Airi not being able to work an angle: right. That explains the multiple PB's, the fact her solo PV versions tend to have double the views of others', and that newbies like Riho and Mayuyu admire her photo shoot skills.

@every9105 I've watched over 20 H!P concerts over the last 9 years and I'll tell you this much... prior to being included in Buono! I had no idea who Airi was and half the time couldn't tell her apart from Saki, Erina or the other C-Ute members who ended up leaving and whose names I don't even remember. This was true even seeing C-Ute featured in over a hundred videos and TV programs. She never struck me as worth a second thought and she had plenty of chances to change my mind.

@TheHobgoblyn Sounds like you're not into C-ute. Which is fine, but you should realize it makes your attempts to rank Airi's performance skills...not really work.
C-ute and Buono! both had their major debut in 2007. Even after a year-long indie run, half of C-ute still needed breaks in between songs and lip-synched. Airi didn't. Even Momo admitted in an early Buono interview that she looked to Airi to find center pitch. You can hate Airi, but you can't call her unqualified.

@every9105 While it was true that I wasn't into C-Ute, it's not like I began with a bias. All the H!P kids started on the same level to me, all tiny little things with no talent and no clear reason Tsunku recruited a massive amount of elementary students in the first place. They were featured on the shows and such, so I watched them... and only a few of them stood out as distinct enough that I have learned to easily recognize them and learned their names first. Airi was not one.

@TheHobgoblyn I agree that Airi is WAAAAAY over rated, but that's not enough to consider her useless. She just gets so much unnecessary attention (including monopoly of solo lines in c-ute and buono) and tbh I just get tired of seeing her face all over the place. But she's still apart of H!P and buono, etc. I just wish she'd be a lot *less* apart of it if you know what I mean.
