  • I'm sold!!! This is some serious real-deal TONE. I believe there is a 5E3 in my future.

  • my favorite amp... GREAT !!!!!

  • LOL 3 people are tone deaf

  • Great sound! Which speaker is in it?

  • Is this the 6v6 18watt version or the 6L6 40 watt proluxe?

  • now that is some good playing

  • how long did it it take to recieve the it kit once you ordered it?

  • Great tone and nice playin', Sir....

  • that thing sings, about how much did it cost to get all the parts for this?

  • I wish more people did demos like this. I like the way you changed amp settings and went through the different pickups. I just built a 5e3 and hope to do the same thing. Thanks for your ideas.

  • Is this cranked? And also how do you cope with the speaker flub when pushed on the low notes

  • It's cranked at 1:50. The speaker doesn't flub but the low notes get kinda mushy and compressed at high volumes but this is due to the amp not the speaker. But this compression also gives the high notes a smoothness as they sustain well when cranked.

  • You can lower the cathode bypass cap values to 4.7 uf ,that will tighten it up as it rolls off some of the sub bass frequencies.

That would be the capacitor wired to p3 and p8(it's 25 uf stock)

  • @ToneKingGuitarMan

A 25 uf is one extreme(allowing all frequencies through) while the .68 is another(would act as low/mid cut off while passing highs, that would shift the balance towards too bright)

A 4.7 will still allow most of the frequencies through,it would just roll off some of the lower bass frequencies ~ 55 hz and below, which you barely hear, those frequencies contribute allot to muddiness especially since it's a cathode biased/tube rectified amp(with fairly small value filter caps).

  • True, very true! Thanks :)

  • @Danielpoole2006 Oh I don't know, maybe the same way most every delta blues player did -- make it part of your musical expression. This amp sounds WICKED COOL!!!!!!!

  • Loved it.

  • The Strat sounds pretty nice but the Telecaster sounds fantastic!

  • Man, that sounds awesome. Super classic tone. How difficult was it to build the kit, and would you recommend it for someone with little electronics knowledge? I have tinkered a little; modded a valve jr. head with a kit and didn't shock myself, but that's about it. I'd love to build one of these, but I am pretty inexperienced.

  • Just do it.

  • is it possible to post the mods you did and speaker you used? i'm really thinking about doing the webber kit on this one. sounds very nice

  • Sure, here's what I changed:

Hammond transformers, Sprague filter caps, CTS pots, Switchcraft jacks, Metal lamp holder, and the tubes I stole out of my friends old Deluxe Reverb because they sounded a lot smoother (I think they're kind of old but I'm not sure if they're the original or not).

You should check to see what the Weber kits come with nowadays, they might sell their kits with Switchcraft jacks and maybe better pots too I'm not sure.

  • No pedals I swear. The guitars are a '52 reissue Fender Tele and a '57 reissue Fender Stratocaster. Both with the stock pickups. The speaker is a Weber 12A150. Absolutely amazing speaker. The amp itself is made from a Weber kit. I don't know if I just got lucky but it sounds spectacular. And it sounds 1000 times better in real life. It even sounds way better before it gets put on youtube.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Thanks

  • I have a Tweed Deluxe replica and I use it with a Gibson... It' s just amazing because you can get many differento sounds. Just incredible.
