@colin4393 I didn't know all Aussie's could understand all accents so well. I think the American accent is typically very clean and simple and easy to understand. But some parts of the UK can be difficult to a person not from there. The person was probably referring to slang and not accents. I have some friends in Melbourne and have no problem understanding them, Accept when they say things like "ranga" for redhead, which Americans dont use.

I wouldn't call that sort of accent clean and simple (it's fucking terrible). And I agree with you, some accents in different parts of the UK can be quite difficult sometimes to understand.
