  • woooahhh you are big! :-D

  • Sorry.. but this is very risky and the probability of you getting hit on your face by the bands is very very high when you are done with your set..... I even think that the probability of not getting hurt is very less... why don't you put up a video where you do a full set and then show how you get off after you finish your set? Well, until you do that, I think this is bad advice.... Sorry! you would be better off with the chair assists...

  • I'm sorry, but comparing the beachbody and the other bands for "quality" is incorrect/unfair. Higher resistance bands are thicker, lesser resistance bands are thinner...that's how they vary the resistance.

The beachbody may indeed be higher quality...but thickness of the rubber is no gauge of quality.

  • 10 minutes and you didnt do one fucking pull-up what a jack-ass.

  • @JizzyJay1000 wrongo

    1. its 9 minutes 10 seconds and

    2. he did 4 pullups at the last 10 seconds xP

but yea it was a waste of my time too

  • Awesome Video!!!

Check my page i just made a Pull UP Video!!!

  • P90X: Great Devised Workouts........SHITTY, UNSCRUPULOUS,BORDERING -on-SCAM, WORTHLESS UPSELLS HANDLING OF BUSINESS!!!!

  • Great idea, I was going to purchase some of the "heavy" 41" bands which after doing some research are fairly expensive.

  • nice video man

  • Thanks man...I'm 15 days into P90X and still having some trouble with the pull ups on the Chest/Back workout. I'll give this a shot.

  • I can't even do pull ups. It pisses me off that skinny guys can do more than a well masculat guy like me :(

  • it would of been funny if he got knocked out.

  • Sorry if someone already said this... What about using some string for tying the bands to a barbell plate on the floor so it won't fly too far if it slips off your knee.

Great video, thanks for posting this.

  • Awesome vid man thanks

  • Wow thanks man, that's a great idea. I was just hooking the bands in the door but i think this is a much better idea

  • Nice presentation. Thank you for taking the time.

  • Dude, i love you, you are the best.. lol THE BEST. ever.. no joke. im serious.. SERIOUSLY. SEEEERIOUSLY.. made my life easier.. i used a chair.. fell back and Ko'd.. lol so il do this next time.

  • He's like 300lbs at least it's IMMENSELY hard to do perfect form pull ups at such resistance, but I managed it! :)

  • BORING.!!!

  • Your videos rock man! Very informative. What is the length of the back bar (not the back plate but the back bar)?

As for the back plate is it made of metal, and does it mess up your sheet rock? The IronGym back plate is made of cheap plastic so this was a curiosity I had

  • nice vid man thank you very much for the tip i laughed at 5:36

  • Not just a good video. A thorough one. You seem like a very caring man. Thanks

  • Great video!

  • cute

  • Thanks - I was looking online for a doorway pull-up bar and resistance bands; almost bought a certain kind of band but I'm very glad I saw this video first. Nice & informative!

  • ty to your guide i can do 40 reps with no assiting =D

  • cool vid thumbs up ;D assit me though

  • The thicker they are the more they hurt when they snap. :P

  • Thanks for the tips man, that helps a lot!!

  • I tried this today, it works great, you could still feel the burn, but they help out a lot, thx

  • this video helped a lot thanks dude just got the p90x and i do struggle with pull ups but for the safety precaution of the bands it would have been also a good pointer if you showed a vid of you doing pull ups showing the band so we know where the bands go but still a lot of help thanks

  • Excellent video. Very helpful. Thanks a million.

  • What if you weigh alot like 350 and want to do pull ups? What then? WHAT THEN? It can't support my weight

  • @sexfanatic first you lose weight dumbass.

  • Do you get the pull-up bar if u order it online?

  • Nice Job!!! Very comprehensive and well thought out.

  • Wow, this is brilliant! I am going to try this !!!

Thanks for making the video :-)

  • Even if you bought that purple band at Target, the thickness of it could be completely irrelevant to quality. Maybe it just has a lower level of resistance.

  • Man you look so big but your voice is very calm and peaceful. A gentle giant perhaps. Thank you for the tip.

  • thank you my man! this is exactly the tip i was locking for

  • Your better of using a chair if you need help or getting a friend to spot you, that way you wont brake your jaw on a 100mph twanging rubber band. lol

The band idea looks good, but its not very safe or practical.

  • great tip. i was wondering how to do assisted band pullups with similar bands in this presentation. I've only seen people use the ironwoody ones which were circular.

    thank you.

  • Thanks for the great tips! This should make starting out a bit easier!

  • Great tips with using the bands.

  • What if you have no pull up bar or resistance band? What can you sub in for those exercises?

  • I bought some bally's branded Band and that shit snapped on me:( pissed me right off and hurt

  • My bands were like 15 bucks on sale, got them at the local big 5 sporting goods store. They're made from everlast so i'm positive they wont snap that easily.

  • hey i used the bans and they helped a lot im 10 and i did like 15 minets of day 2 but i steal do pull ups

  • If you're going to use bands, I reccomend Iron Woody bands. They are far sturdier than the cheap ones you get at target or wal mart and will last much longer.

  • you look like a large man, i am 230lb, what are your feelings on a chinning bar for my mass??? please respond. would appreciate.....

  • Nothing against this video but instead of going through all this trouble and spending money on bands...not to mention all the risks and flaws with the bands...wouldn't it make more sense to use a chair as an assist like how it is in the actual P90X training?

  • This is great, thanks for the tip, Pull-ups is probably my weakest exercise on P90X, this will help me out alot!

  • nice presentation.

  • Im in pretty good shape right now and i cant even do 2 pullus... i dont know why because im good at benching and everything. i want to start p90x but if i cant even do the work out it would be pointless, will it still work for me if i can never do the pull ups?

  • pull ups aren't the whole workout, it's just part of it. there is so much more than that. you will build your way to be able to do pull ups.

  • if you can do only one pullup at a time. keep a number in your head, say 25 and do a total of 25 pullups in a day. initially you'll do it one at a time, then 2 or 3 at a time, and you can move up the ladder. Also, you can use the pyramid method which i saw on youtube. do 1 pullup, come of the bar, and then do 2, then 3, coming off the bar each time you complete the set. do it all the way up to your max say 8, then work your way back, 7 - come off, 6, come off, 5 come off and so on. Cheers!

  • there is no need for all this. unless you can do one pullup atleast, do not start at the bar. once you develop enough strength with the other workouts (and lose some weight), you can try the bar with unassisted pullups. If you run out of steam, use the chair as tony says. if you still run out, do negatives (climb on to the chair, and just let yourself down unassisted). decline pike presses can also help develop your lats a little bit so you can do a few more pullups. this video is just a waste.

  • Hanging the bands like that puts the weight down on your esthetic door frame instead of against the wall, therefore mostly not using the cantilever effect that this kind of pull-up bar requires to do its work properly. I would recommend putting the bands somewhere where you would grab the bar with your hands, still.

  • Wow, all of this thought and trouble for nothing. Tony explains exactly what to do if you are struggling with pull ups, and it is far easier than this.

  • CHINGMETAL is such a fucking troll ur a white gay

  • u spent about 600$ on p90x + quip ....nice nice

  • Thank you for the video. I'll be trying this this week. It'll be the second week of phase 2 for me and struggling with the pull up.

  • Do the lines give the same effect as the bars, or is one better than the other?

  • I appreciate this really thorough overview of how to do the assisted pullups.

  • Don't he look like the Miller Lite guy?

  • lmfao. 5:36 - Jumpy ass ..

  • WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS GUY?

    DID HE QUIT?

  • lol he reminds me of a mechanic

  • very resourceful!

  • this is not a really good idea.

if you are having trouble doing pull ups use a chair and use the step up method like tony shows in the videos.

this has too much risk associated with getting hit in the face or bands slipping/breaking.

  • spoken by the rubberbandman

  • hes on the right track there are quality commercial products you can do this safely with but I don't think you should use the resistance bands

  • Do you guys use the bands on both knees, I can only seem to get one knee on the bands. Can't really squeeze the other knee in as they are already pretty tight and pulled as I go to get the other one in. I am tall about 6'4" and I have a normal size door and I am 315 puonds.

  • one knee

  • Go to the official website. The bands came with the Bar and I would really recommend them when you order P90x.

  • does p90x come with the bands and the chin up bar

  • thx for advice. very supportive. greetings from Poland.

  • very informative. you covered alot.

  • WOW TANX 4 da hELP

  • Thanks a lot. Great vid. I'm about to start the P90x and was looking for advise on how to do multiple pull ups. My arms get tired after doing just one. lol.

  • At least you can DO one! LOL I am hoping by the end of P90x I can do at least one unassisted.

  • thank you so much.... youve helped me out so much....but i hope your not just spending all your time doin all these vids.... hope ur workin out to! thx again!!!

  • great idea! i'm 10 weeks into p90x and feel good about everything but my pull ups, even though i'm pushing out 8 to ten this may be a way for me to bump up to the 15 to 20 i want! Ive tried the chair but I don't get what i want from it. Thanks, I will try with todays workout.

  • you scared the fuck out of me..

i usually wrap it around my neck, and free fall to the floor, great routine for me..

  • LOL, I shouldn't be laughing, but I was not expecting that. That's hilarious

  • Lol it's me again! We really thought it was somone else:D

    !!

  • I would have to say i would honestly recommend Assisting your pull-ups with a chair. Its recommended by tony and you really will get better results by doing so in my opinion!

  • how can you use a chair if the pull up bar is that low!!

  • hey bro, a question... are there cheaper bands or the quality of the bands from P90X that good that it's not worth the effort in finding it cheaper and shell $70? I don't also plan to get dumbells, would that be cool also? doing the arm exercises with the bands also?

  • Duct tape them both together. That is what I am doing. Use a towel and use duct tape to hold it together. That way your towel will have no chance of falling off.

  • there you go! using your noodle. we gotta remember not to only strenghten our bodys but to keep a sharp mind as well. I bet you saved a couple 100 dollars. i looked into getting a pullup sled or powertower!!! cause i live in a house built in the mid 1800s and there is only one door way thin enough for my door gym, and thats to my bathroom. but eh! it works!

  • I don't have a doorway near a tv. I don't have a doorway that doesn't have a fire alarm above it. I have the pullup bar. Does anybody have a constructed substatute.

  • if you dont have a doorway to attach a pull up bar. i suggest you get a pull-up + dip station or pull-up sled as its also called. they are kinda large and take up room (no folding away under your bed) but you can use some furniture dollys to move it into the garage or other unused room. check out dicks sporting goods if ya got one near you.

  • I have built a mount for it against one of my basement walls. It took some time to build but I solved my problem. Thank you though. What I did was basically build a doorway without a door that I could place up against a wall on both sides it has one long board pointing away from the wall and one small board out to the side for stability. The long boards are good for the towell hops. Took me two hours after getting the wood.

  • I'm gonna try this.... Just bytemis's video and she did it this way....

  • man you did good you can be a Good Coach

  • I had a beach body band break hit me in the head and cut my forehead. I have since then started using the p90x bar and a chair for my pullups :)

  • I was actually considering using the bands that way, instead of using the chair. Thank you for the demo!

  • pretty cool idea

  • Interesting post - I haven't seen bands used like that before. I start my sets using the pull-up bars. Once I have maxed out and can't do any more, I then use a door adapter and use bands (without the chin up bar) and do seated chin up style exercises (as shown in the P90X DVD). It has definitely helped me do more unassisted pull-ups.

  • this is a cool thing in theory but I think I would definitely hurt myself with those bands so I think I will just use a chair. :)

  • Hi BrownBuna you bring up a few good points. If you want to know how much weight you are offsetting then purpose built bands is absolutely the way to go. I'm more focused on a target number of reps so the offset isn't my primary concern. I did a little poking around the net most resistance band have a max stretch length of about 12' but as you point out, ALWAYS USE CAUTION WITH ANY ELASTICIZED ASSISTANCE BANDS

  • Why not buy the bands made specifically for pull-ups, that way you know exactly how much you weight you are pulling. I bought several with different weight limit and I reduce the weight as I build strength. If it works for you fine but I would not recommend using the regular band pull-ups.

  • DO NOT STAND on the bands I put one of me knees in the bands that way I still have a leg free to catch me If something unfortunate were to happen

  • newforce is talking about using the bands in place of dumbells which I don't know what that has to do with pullups, but he's not talking about your assisted pullups with bands.

  • even if they do not break all it takes for a nice red line across your face is for the band to slip from under your foot. Ouchy, I can still feel that slap! Dumbbells all the way. Full range of motion and a better workout. Bands are okay for travel and space savings obviously, but for maximum results, dumbbells work better every time.
