For the musically enlightened who like to see alternate variations/versions. check out Andrei Pushkarev's arrangement, with Gidon Kremer on violin. It's more "traditional classical" and heavier on some funky strings instead of guitar, with Andrei's vibraphone throwing down this smooth, soft touch as the other lead. Very different but in some ways also very "tango-jazzy" if you like. So many perspectives!
It took some consideration, but I like this duo/dual/duel approach to the piece with guitar/keys dancing tightly like that. Very tango. Very Carribean in a way, with the percussion and strings making foundation for the front players to pass and trade licks over. It has this almost ragtime / roaring 20's kind of feel this way, with just enough madness to cover the technicality of the arrangement. I'd like even more madness, ideally, but that's a personal choice :)
Seine Technik ist erste Sahne. Aber sie steht nicht isoliert im Vordergrund. Da ist noch Groove, da ist Seele, ist ein ein Gefühl für Rhythmus. Der holt aus der Musik alles raus, was drin stecken kann.
Perhaps he doesn't have that kind of soul? "Insensitivity", or a "thick skin" is often required by people who achieve "success" through hard work and talent. Cicero: "People always hate those greater than themselves." Perhaps he does have this necessary "insensitivity"?
"Music" as permitted soundtrack to the "wasteland", "desert of the real"? catering for the enervated and confused herd who use words in ways that recapitulate only their own ignorance and regressive emotionalities? Perhaps he isn't that kind of musician? "Soul" as a Latin (mis?)translation of anima? "Soul", a reified concept, a fix(ate)d mystification: withheld from the "anima(l)" kingdom, granted to anthropos, by the Church, sanctioning all exploitations of the "anima(l)" realm.

di Meola's electric lead tone is better on his acoustic guitar than a lot of people's on electric guitars lol

groove , soul , passion - pure mastery of the instrument. This is why Al DeMeola is and always will be the best - or one of the best.

He doesn´t have soul! He has only an insensitive and fast body, without feelings! He learned nothing with JM and Paco!

Oh, sure... I wish you have at least half of his soul.
