  • hi, i'm thinking of buying this game, but i have a doubt... Can i only play with the player i gifted the extra copy when i buy the game, or are there online servers, players or whatever?

  • @makinote9 There is online play. You just need to do some port forwarding to allow the game to connect to player's games. All the information is available on sidtube.com. It's a fantastic game and definitely worth buying.

  • i didn't know auctioneers could make games too.

  • thanks for the awesome game! I just purchased it !

  • how do i get the farm objects

  • Do people still play this?

  • @NumNumNun and HOW! this is the future of gaming, live human text adventure.

  • @niktoTunes

    ...

    do people still play this?

  • holy fuck... u talk much faster than i do... ur like sonic running with his mouth...

  • game looks cool. now I can get my d&d fix anonymously!

  • can you save games for later use? this is probably a stupid question but i only heard about this game 10 minutes ago

  • Bob Ross :D

  • who else put their mouse over his?

  • ok i just bought Inside a Star-Filled Sky, and now this game looks amazing too.. My brother said "this stuff is really up your alley" .. I want this game and all of his games.

  • Is there like a forum or something where you can find strangers to play with you? That would make it amazing.

  • @JustaTestable - reddit dot come slash r slash sleepisdeath - reddit . com / r / sleepisdeath

  • wife and daughter... that reminds me of a bill hicks joke ;)

  • You sound like Zachary Levi

  • wow, you say uhh alot :P

  • Bob Ross.......

    Paint a happy little tree!

    that made me laugh. lmao

  • at the site it says it comes with two codes for two players, do i need to find someone to play with? im new and really wanna get this

  • @elwiz1967 it's two player ONLY

  • Great tutorial! Learned a lot

  • Wow, you speak fast but I don't have problems understanding you ^^

  • @Smoochboy pretty sure this was sped up after recording.

  • That's normal speech speed in NY metro area.

  • Mmh, I don't think I'll like it.

  • Hi Honey I'm getting Horney more like it

  • @blacbraun i thaught he would write that xD

  • I purchased sid and I am running vista on a more than capable laptop. It allows me to get to point of choosing to host or join a game and I do as the tutorial states. Rather then showing the page with the i.p. address and the ability to press G the game simply closes out. as far as I am concerned it's a crash. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing and also attempted to "run as administrator" which has worked for me on other games. Any help please? This game seems amazing but I can't play.

  • Tito Ortiz, is that you!?

  • dya liek dags ?

  • I love it when people*

  • I love people who speak fast content and clean.

  • Is it possible to extend the timer limit? 30 seconds seems to be really short.

  • @badukplayer87 Yeah go to the settings in the folder, and click on time limit, and change it. Save it and there ya go...

  • How dose the player interact with the program? Can the player move around? Can they click on things?

What happens if you take longer than 30 seconds? Dose it just dump you out?

  • them damn dags!

  • very informative! Thank you.

  • Awesome! wow lol

  • wth is the point behind this game?

  • @ESTAndrew It's like a cross between a point-and-click adventure and an RPG.

  • me and my bro just got this, im definately gonna review this one on my channel.

  • Why 30 seconds though? What if I connect to a player who like me has no problem taking his time?

  • @burningphoneix It would be nice to have the option of setting the time limit

  • @Makotoichio I think the point of the time limit is to try to "train" the players to keep things spontaneous. Spontaneous stories are fun!

  • @burningphoneix you can change settings around. there is a turntime.ini or something.

  • really nice! thank you jason.

its great for education, for game design trainning, for story telling, for live presentations, VJing, AV, etc...

    great job!!!

    jjR

  • @Pitkis85 Yeah, I mean if you can go swimming why would you want to eat beef jerky?

  • @Pitkis85 Are you seious? Philistine.

  • The idea for this game is amazing! I'm going to have to grab a copy. Or two I suppose. =]

  • Good to know that it's an RPG maker before I put down $14 on this. The website makes it seem like a ready made cooperative experience.

  • I need someone to buy this game with me :o

  • Is this like RPG Maker? What I am beginning to understand is you make your own game, You make your own story, you can make your own characters and create your own game basically, is this correct?

Also, what does that mean $14 for two copies? What are these copies? It didn't say on the site...

Lastly, SPEAK SLOWER SIR, Not only that, show us a little more carefully. You're probably time limited, but this isn't helpful, it's too confusing and too fast to see what is happening to follow you

  • @BakaNeko224 It's quite simple -.-

  • @Zeldarulah Well, to me I didn't understand. Another reason I asked is because... To a person who might never played a video game like this, they might have similar questions and it wasn't really clearly explained. You always have to think ahead and explaining to people who never even touched a video game before, and if this would be their first, how would you present that to them? Yes, there are people who never touched a game before. It's something I learned in my video game development class.

  • @BakaNeko224 It's kind of like RPG Maker, except the events and speech of the game characters aren't preplanned. They're created on the fly by the storyteller. The story develops depending on the player's interaction with the world and the storyteller's responses.

The two copies are to allow you to play with a friend. One copy goes to your friend and you keep the other one. This is because the game is built around a two player setup: player and storyteller.

  • @Chikken21 Thank you so much for being so nice on explaining that to me. I appreciate it and the thought to reply to me. BTW, I love your Spore creations! What is your account name so I can download them? Please send me a message ^^

  • It's funny how you see a lot of person on person stories. Why not stray away from individual people and tell a story about, I don't know, nature, planets or certain battles.

  • Just hosted my first game.. it was very difficult to connect over the net.. UPnP didn't work.. and DAMN it's hard to be the storyteller within 30 secs.... fun though!

  • 14 bucks is for two copies. I think it's a LITTLE expensive, but it's 7 bucks a copy, it's a neat little thing, so if you think it's for you, buy it.

  • It's for make an story this is not a game ... is the same shit to read or write a book the only change is that this does have animations.

  • SPEAK SLOWER

  • Looks fun, but $14 is too much. I just want that editor :P

  • @Shatananshnasha It's 7 bucks if you have a friend.

  • I still have no idea what this game is

  • @sulljoh1 I'm with you, I have no idea why someone would want to play this game. It looks similar to playing with Lego but without any of the good bits.

  • i cant believe you guys want to charge people $14 to test your game

  • @sicboypeachy To test this game? You mean to play it right because this game is really fun. Some of the stuff being created is great. It is well worth the price.

  • @S2333 No, I mean test. Its not even in Beta stage more of an Alpha build

  • @sicboypeachy Dumb

  • wow you speak fast

  • @Quackbillion probably because of youtube's 10:59 time limit

  • @Quackbillion the game moves fast... you only have 30 seconds to try to do whatever the player says. Since the game encourages you to keep up the pace, it's natural for the players to try to think that fast as well.

  • @nupanick whoops, did not mean to vote you down.

  • @Quackbillion You think HE talks fast? you gotta watch zero punctuation...

  • 5:09 The Bob Ross reference made me smile.

  • Hey Jason, is it possible to save your creations and access them again?

  • @natep1098 At about 7:20 he explains how. Add a scene name, then add it to the database on the side.

  • @rdubayoo I think it might be how Jason experiences his own kids. He made a children's book with breast-feeding featured prominently, and the child in it spent most of the time naked. Just a guess.

  • i dont know how to end my stories either.. which is a shame because it means i get no flipbook saved :<

  • This might sound silly, but, how does one end a story? I've played through a few and I don't know how to end my plays with a friend.

  • @Dweiner89 Haven't played myself, but from the replays I've seen of other's games, you just show a "The End" screen.

  • @afeared Thats what I thought but when I put up the image of "game over" it allowed the other player to make a turn. I'm so confused and lost as to how nobody else has this problem but me and my friends.

  • @Dweiner89 I've seen a few replays where the game continued after such a 'false ending'. Just don't respond to their actions anymore?

  • @Dweiner89 Default scenary + The end Object?

  • I'm having problems with the 30 second time limit, and also the search feature is broken due to the fact that he listed characters by names instead of what they are.

If Im looking for a man how am i supposed to know to search "kevin"?

  • @TrdFurgy The 30 second time limit is tough to get used to, but I find that it helps keep the game moving. Also, I'd make a point of familiarizing yourself with the sprite's you'll need before you actually start running the game.

  • @illskillzmagill thanks for the tip

  • I'm 100% positive that 98% of players will ruin this game by typing & creating objects that symbolize sexual references. This game isn't going to get far...

  • @ChewyyyyyyDuck You have to know the player beforehand to connect and play. This game is not meant to be played with strangers. And it's usually only strangers who will screw with you like that.

  • @ChewyyyyyyDuck It hasn't happened to me yet - i've played with friends and strangers and 99% of experiences have been charming and intimate - the game is great fun but it does take a little effort.

  • Who wants to watch a tutorial about a game they don't understand? [Especially when you are talking too fast.] You should have a video of 2 people playing the game (from off-PC) with a split-screen of the actual playing field. Nobody knows what the hell you are talking about. Only early adopters care.

  • @frankbraker Sir, I suggest you make some research next time, as this prevent you from talking out of your ass and making yourself a complete idiot to the rest of the world by showing your ignorance.

There's a perfectly fine demonstration of what the game is about on the official website.

  • @frankbraker I'd have to agree with Tivizzz. Plenty of us understand what's going on without having to have been paying attention to the game beforehand. Also, why would you watch a tutorial about a game you aren't interested or know anything about anyway? Don't lump all of us in with your idiocy.

  • @elementblue780 "why would you watch a tutorial about a game you aren't interested in.." You make my point perfectly. I'm looking for anything to convince me this is an interesting gaming experience, but all I'm finding is a tutorial I have to drag myself through to get even an idea! People commenting "this game is great" and "you talk out of your ass" still does nothing to show me what a great game this claims to be.

  • @frankbraker I made a basic story using elements/sprites that came with the game and played through it a couple of times, each time with a different friend. It's amazing how quickly you and your friend fall into step with one another. Because neither of you are trying to see how far you can push the AI before it breaks, the story progresses at a terrific pace. Each time I ran the story, it came out differently. It's like an 8-bit Choose Your Own Adventure generator that you control. So much fun!

  • @elementblue780 haha, this video has some of the best comments/conversations attached to it i've ever seen.

  • what is the website

  • Incredibly cool game. This isn't just 2D Sims, this is a complete storytelling interface. Because a friend is controlling all the game elements, you can literally do whatever you want, interact with whatever you like, and together steer the story any way you want to go. It's amazing how versatile the 8-bit system is, and it's so easy to use. I can't recommend this game enough, and $14 for two copies is a steal. Play it! You won't regret it!

  • wtf.. 2d version of sims?

  • @r8ymond No. This is a mix between pen & paper games, web comics and MSPaint ;) This is all about the story, not about buying expensive IKEA furnitures. ;)

You can publish your story at the end of your playthrought.

  • I was wainting for the release for a month :). As a boy interested in the game making, I'm glad to see the performance of each detail of this soft.

  • this game blows my mind

  • This game is very fun

  • apreciate it mate

  • Thank you for the help! I got so confused playing it last night.

  • Wonderful help, thankyou!

It would be quite useful though if the controller's first turn didn't have a limit ( or had a longer limit ) to allow them to set a proper scene.

  • @10Fifty4 As he mentions at the start, the controller can prepare as much material as they want before the player connects, essentially giving them an unlimited 1st turn

  • Really useful! Thanks. The game can be quiet intimidating.

  • This Helps soooo much already. I've been playing with it all day! Thanks for making a game that is so open to interpretation!

  • I just got your game, but one thing that I was hoping to find out is, when I decide to end the game, how do I bring up the "the end" title and save the game to the flip book?

  • Awesome stuff man!!

    Love the game :)

  • Great video, really helped! At first I was worried it wouldn't feel like a 'game' while you're a controller but the time-trial stress of trying to edit a sprite or music score in 30 seconds is an awesome feeling.

  • Excellent! so far I love the music editor, just wish you could change the tempo

  • This video was super helpful. More games should have these!

  • I there a way to add the possibility to use accents like "é", "à", "ê", "ç", "c'", "è"?

French is my mother tongue and I really need these caracters in order to tell my stories. I guess it is the same thing for hispanic people using tilde like "~"...

  • Played my first game last night too. The preset objects are hilarious tho I have a lot of work to do for the stories I want to tell.

  • One thing that is a tad bit frustrating is that each character has its own unique name rather than having the generic title of Female, or boy. So it is difficult to search unless you know their names before hand. But I guess you can rename them yourself, so its not that big of a deal.

  • Awesome. Played it with my friend last night, don't think I've ever laughed so hard. That is, laughed at my own ineptness. Accidentally changing the player from a little girl into a policeman is kinda surreal...

Just waiting for more tutorial videos now!

  • Can the music editor be expanded? I find it way too limited. There are very few notes to work with, but the bigger issue is that the music will always be really short and repetitive because of the lack of length.

The tutorial video was a big help by the way. Thanks. :)

  • would anyone know how i can help sid open a port? i am using my university's internet connection and want to play with my friend in canada. we can play with him as controller but its my turn!!

  • @uberplayer I you have windows Vista, I think you can search for Firewall settings and then adde exceptions or "rules" You can add sleepisdeath.exe as a program and allow connetions to it, and/or add exceptions for the port 7778.

Honestly, I'm still playing alone with the editor...

  • @pmorin90 i was afraid i'd get that advice. i'm on windows 7 and that didn't work for me. i was trying to use other ports that are supposedly open earlier and couldn't get it to work. any other ideas? thanks for you help

  • Preordered and now toying with the editor. Great stuff!

  • Sold!

  • Btw, I'd like to see a few things in near future versions:

    - a windowed mode

    - in game volume control

    - in game display of external IP

    - some umlauts

    Thanks. :)

  • @robin5543 You can actually already play Sleep is Death in a window. If you look in the settings folder, you can see a fullscreen.ini.

If you change the value to 0, the game will launch in a window.

    Hope that helps!

  • @robin5543 Open the fullscreen file in the settings folder and change the 1 to 0.

  • @robin5543 this game looks amazing. I'm definitely gonna buy it when it comes out.

  • @robin5543 You can go in windowed mode by opening the file "SleepIsDeath_v13\settings\fullscreen.ini" and changing the value to 0.

What I'd like is some sort of master server to find random people to play with quickly. The potential of this game is sharing stories with people you don't know imo.

  • @robin5543 Windowed mode already exists. go into settings and edit the fullscreen, ini. that was the first thing i did xD

  • Comment removed

  • @pmorin90 that worked for me...

  • <-- totally psyched! Thanks!

  • Thanks for this introductory video! Your game is awesome!
