  • Balls to you copyright trolls!

  • HOLLYWOOD used SOPA and PIPA! It's not very effective...

SILICON VALLEY used BLACKOUT! It's super effective!

  • biggest WIN! thanks for teaching me something :]

  • Its funny how you can watch this video in 720p! xD

  • Thanks so much for this video!

This topic is very relevant in the information age, and i feel like copyright laws really need to get updated, specifically for various uses on the internet.

It has good intentions but goes too far; often it just heavily restricts creativity of many well-meaning artists that wouldn't harm the owners.

In many cases such works even promote the actual product indirectly, and getting the content taken down for copyright infringement gets even more frustrating then.

  • Actually it's 70 not 50

  • you'll never defeat viacom!

  • PEOPLE used PIRATE... It was SUPER EFFECTIVE!

BUSINESS used LAW... it was too slow!

  • Im totally with you about this, especially the idea that copyright limits our creativity. If we're expected to make everything oursleves and always be original, its a limitation. Why not have a mix of both? :)

  • U.S. Government used SOPA! It's super effective!

  • Incorrect. Fair Use also applies to Canada.

    *Nitpick*

  • Whats the music at 0:40

  • How you create that video?

  • ha! copyballs...

  • Haha I get why you put Mickey as Lv28 :D

  • Knowledge via pokemon?? you changed the world sah!

  • The problem with fair use is, you can't just cry "FAIR USE" every time a DMCA complaint is filed against you. If you file a counter-notification claiming that are within fair use, the company can still take you to court, and your video/youtube account won't even be restored until you win or settle the case, and if you lose the case, you get to pay the legal fees and STILL never get your youtube account back.

  • i dont agree with taking copy right but this vids awsome

  • EDUTAINMENT!

  • WHY THE FUCK DOESN'T THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO CHANGE WHEN I SWITCH TO 720p?!

  • @KooKev7 It does. Slightly.

It's a first gen Pokemon game, there is not much to enhance by upping the res. :L

  • @LegendaryGamer0 yeah it doestn that much.. but if you press 1080p the game will turn 3d.. :)

  • I miss the wild west days of the Internet. =(

  • That user is none other than Mickey's arch-rival, Pete. He's playing the game all this time, and he's got Mickey. :|

But with all due respect, the video is teaching us a good lesson.

  • If the stuff was made before '78, then we'd have to wait for 95 years... We can't wait that long.

  • Awesomesauce.

  • I thought it was funny that FAIR USE has the animation for SWIFT. SWIFT never misses. :P

  • "When you run out of time, it's game over for you!"

    How long is "time"? =o

Anyway, clever video. Very amusing... and you're starting to give me motivation to make an actual effort to learn about this copyright stuff.

  • God that music brought back some memories, I used to love pokemon when I was a wee fella, *searchs pokemon roms*

  • mickey mouse: borkua.... XD

  • I can't wait until the music gets pulled.

  • lol

  • Copyright lasts life plus 70.

  • @shengy14 Probably because it failed the first three attempts and needed to go for a forth, kind of like your grammar class.

  • *screen fades to black*

    "A final Message appears!"

"Viewer uses Read. It wasn't very effective..."

"Message used Agility. Its speed increased!"

"Viewer uses Read... but it failed."

"Message used Double Team! Its evasiveness greatly rose."

"Viewer uses Pause Button... but it missed."

"Viewer uses Action Replay to restart battle..."

  • @SpryO3 LOL I know the ending text is super fast. I did this video as a university assignment and it had to be under 3 minutes. My bad :P

  • @slightlydaveTV

University assign-wait...Did you do this for your ED271 class? My ED271 class had the same project, also under 3 mins :P

  • @slightlydaveTV university assignment. COOL!!! how did you made the video and what program did you use? :D

  • @slightlydaveTV

Hey mate, could you perhaps add a how-to video? I'm very curious how you made this lol!:D

  • @slightlydaveTV what did you get on it?

  • @slightlydaveTV The ending text is not super fast at all. Clearly some viewers are just slow readers. Interesting and well made video, grats!

  • @slightlydaveTV What did you make on it?

  • @slightlydaveTV don't blame the text for being fast, blame the guy attempting to read being a slow reader

  • When you say is applied in America, do you mean the US only (north america) or truly AMERICA (north, central and south)?

  • @glhmtv He meant in the USA not in America

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! That was surprisingly educational! Thanks for sharing.

  • ...Putting two interesting things at the end of something makes it kinda hard to keep track of you know. *was side-tracked watching student vs. homework while trying to read actual info on movie* :P

  • @CeruleanDroplets I'll keep that in mind for future videos. Thanks!

  • The thing about the fairytale character is, when it comes to Disney's copywright on them, they only own the image representing of that specific character, not the character. So if I wanted to create a cinderella cartoon I can, so long as the character does not resemble that of the Disney's Cinderella.

  • @slightlydaveTV can't you list youtube videos under a CC Attribution license now?

  • @chipbuster While yes YT now lets you use a CC Licence, that particular CC License claims that all the video content is owned by you (or the videos you used is also listed under the same CC License) so that anyone can edit and use the video content. Since I am using content that is not my own ( ie. Pokemon/Disney ) I cannot give people the right to use it freely. Hope that clears it up :)

  • @slightlydaveTV Ahh, there's the difference. Thanks :)

  • & we learned about Copyrights today

  • lol mickey's the character representing copyright

  • So he spent like 30 years in that place waiting to copy a mickeymouse?

  • @Sharkiiedo HAHAHA I never thought of it like that! I should have aged the user into an old man with a cane xD

  • @Sharkiiedo it was more like 70, because he waited, and mickey mouse used a copyright extension. :P

  • im sorry but this might be funny if someone cared about copywrite

  • Wow, i learned something new today awesome!!

  • Gotcha!!!

  • Wow...1 dislike... impressive

  • The power is yours

  • how do you make this through aftereffects? Great video and well done!

  • @EJ920 I only used AE to edit the original footage just overlaying the images I made in Ps on top....having said that it still took around 25hours if I remember right

  • @slightlydaveTV Wow. How many images did you end up having at the end???

Sounds like an epic job. You should do some tutorials on how to make these kind of videos haha

I hope they do something about all this copy right bull shit lately

  • @EJ920 There's was a total of 50 layers in the Psd I used for the battle scene. I wouldn't say that's too much to manage, just takes a while to get the timing right when animating. I'm very much self taught so I wouldn't be the best teacher but maybe if I do a few more videos using these sort of techniques I'll look into a tutorial. Thanks for all the interest!

  • Who knew it was that hard to copy something.......

  • FAKE! everybody know that mickey mouse evolves in ronny rat in lvl 16

  • @sjorstroostnino You can still catch monsters much higher than their evolution level, they just have worse skills. I heard at this level, Ronny Rat would have Assassinate, 1-hit KO attack :P

  • Question: Let's say you're in a similar situation to Combuskenisawesome. You make fair use remixes of other videos (youtube poops in this example) and Shopro decides to attempt a copyright claim against one of your videos for using an episode of Pokémon as your source. Is it tried under the legal system of the United States or Japan, and if the latter is true, is there something similar to Fair Use in place in Japan?

  • @NiceHotCupOfBro Sorry for the late response but thanks for the question! Sadly I'm no copyright expert so I had to do some research. I THINK it would be tried in the US as he is claiming Fair Use under their jurisdiction (though I could be wrong). As for Japan, as far as I can tell there is no defined Fair Use law yet but they are considering it. See: visualanthropologyofjapan.blogspot.com/2010/06/fair-use-in-japan.html On a related note, Japan does have Creative Commons and Public Domain :)

  • @slightlydaveTV A late reply is better than none, and I appreciate your reassurance. Thank you.

  • well. Fair use/fair dealing.. we dont have any of that here in Germany -.- yay for GEMA etc

  • @shengy14 if you really wanna get technical about it, the capture sound is the wrong one for the safari zone but hey, I took some artistic licenses :)

  • jo jo! XD

  • Thanks for the shoutout! And well done with your video! Glad I could inspire you

  • Thanks guys! After all the hard work it's nice to get positive feedback :D

  • That is too cool.. great job puts mine to shame lol

  • Lmao, that's awesome.

  • This is goddamn brilliant!
