Well, Ferrari managed to persuade the FIA to change the regs to a 1.6L V6 rather than 4 cylinder, whilst Mercedes persuaded them to put it back to 2014.

Still isnt the 3.5L V12 of 1994, but not as bad as it once was.

@huzza18 The teams themselves suggest this idea because v8/v10/v12 engines have no relevance to their road cars. I see why they want to go to 4 cylinder engines and introduce new technology into road cars, though I think everyone would want to see and hear v10/v12 F1 engines again.

@DRF71N Since when has F1 been about relevence to road cars? Touring Cars, GT racing and Le Mans is where the road car relevance comes into it, F1 should be about making diciulously fast cars, like they did up until 2004.

@huzza18 Its actully the environmentalists pushing for the smaller turbocharged engines because of the carbon emission from the big NA engines. The teams, esp. Ferrari actually don't want to switch to using turbocharged 4 cylinders because they have no use for making the engines since they don't intend to use small turbo engines in their road cars.

Other teams have pulled out in recent years for the same reason; FIA pushing new rules for things that teams would not use in their road cars.

@DRF71N The only reason for that is enviro-mental pricks who are forcing road car manufacturers into creating this low emissions 'green' BS image in their road cars which then has to be passed onto their racing divisions. The cars sound shit as it is with the v8's now they want to ruin the sport further with low revving, low powered, turbo lagging pussy engines. It's all about the screaming 1000BHP 20,000RPM V10's and V12's that once ruled the world.

@5ky5tr1d3r First off, kompressor is a supercharger not a turbo, second off it's not V4 you fuckhead it was going to be inline 4, third off they'll be switching to V6 Turbo's in 2014 instead of inline 4's in 2013, fourth off the two most powerful F1 cars ever were the Brabham BT55 using a 1.5L BMW Inline 4 putting out 1400HP in qualifying trim, and the Lotus-Renault 98T that put out 1500HP in qualifying trim. BOTH TURBO CARS. Most powerful N/A motors in F1 were the last V10's @ barely 1000hp.
