@lebronshaqfaction No, he walked out because it was clear he was not gonna be on top and get things his way. He finally did walk away because of injuries in 2003 at WM19. But here he left because there were others who would be #1. Triple H, Undertaker and especially the Rock. It started with WM18 and his disagreement with the original plan to face Hogan. And then he didn't want to face Lesnar and lose to him. Unreal but he didn't want to put people over.
what what what mutha fuker austin was the best ever man i wish we wouldve seen austin vs hogan or austin vs brock the reason austin left cuz they where destroying his story line n he didnt wanted to lose to hulk hagon n lesnar i agree with austin
@emrl7 You are half right. Austin didn't mind losing the title to Lesner he just didnt want to lose to Lesner on smackdown or Raw he wanted it to build up to a paper view event.
@anjet148 As Vince stated it was earlier that year after Wrestle Mania when he did not show up on the raw the following night. The company kept it quite and gave him a two week suspension. This time which is what you see in the video they essentially fired him.
@anjet148 he walked out in 2002 and he walked out the first time after WM earlier that same year and the WM that took place in 2002 was WM 18 according to google so it was WM 18
i as well as every fan here would have been extremely pissed about austin walking out. he had his reasons but the fact is it was a good portion of people if not if EVERYONE, who paid to see austin and it had to be a disappointment for him not to show up
One of the worst things to ever happen to wrestling is that stupid fucking "What" chant! The # of GOOD in ring promos it has ruined has got to be close to 100. Why is it when you get a bunch of fans together in an arena during a live TV broadcast they feel the need to diminish the product with senseless chants that take away from the energy and timing of the show.
Is it really that fun to mindlessly chant "What" and destroy the entertainment value of the show you paid money to see? IDIOTS!!
@pgbruiser You know you're setting yourself up for a onslaught of What messages as a reply to this comment, to your profile comments and personal messages designed to piss you off but I will be the bigger man. I am sure you already know this but the person 100% responsible for this ridiculous chant is a person that like most you probably cherish. Stone Cold himself came up with it. So dont hate the fans hate the man who started it all. Ah but there is the paradox how can you hate Stone Cold?
I highly doubt Im setting myself up for an "onslaught of What messages". The last comment left before mine was over 2 weeks ago, and I doubt you really care since you put my comment waaayyy up here in the "Uploader" section. Seeing how I control what Im emailed, go ahead & "What" away. I dont even check that other shit anyways. I'm not here to make friends. Oh, and I don't cherish any man. I cherish memories, and thats one I wish I could forget. Hence my original comment.
@pgbruiser LOL really dude? First off you can come down off your self righteous pedestal I was only joking around with you. Second I didn't put your comment anywhere the youtube service put it there probably because I uploaded the video smart guy.
Respond to this video... pgbruiser is right, These damned fools need to stop with the What? chants, fucking bunch of numbskulls, ne'r-do-wells, no-brainers.
@aryanaryan666 You only have the biggest star in the industry to thank for the what chant. Stone cold himself started the whole thing. Dont hate the fans. The what was the fish thrown to the audience by steve the fans were the trained seal what do you expect?
stone cold walked out cus he didnt like what was going on lollll but jesus u walked out on wwe? i mean really no offence to you stone cold fans life goes on buttt U NEVER FORGET AND STONE COLD ahhhhhhhhh epic fail GO CRY N THE CORNERR booo whooooo
@Treylogan218BR Dude your profile says your are 32 have some fucking self respect. I mean did you really just say epic fail? What are you a skateboarding Bieber lovein 12 year old?
The reason why Austin left around this time, I believe, is that Vince wanted Austin to lose to Lesnar on an episode of Raw with no build-up whatsoever. It was a total professional disagreement with Austin wanting to have a build to the match. He didn't have a problem with having Lesnar win, but that he had a problem in the lack of build/money Vince would be missing out on had he decided to go through the plan.
@HayashiAkio1 What do you think would have happened if Hogan did the same 1998 when he was to lose to Goldberg with 3 days notice? YOu think you would be as supportive of Hollywood.
@ak47523 Well I'm not saying I supported Austin's actions, but that merely I was explaining Austin's reasons for leaving. I never was a big Hogan fan, but like all typical wrestling fans, I still mark out when I see him on WWE tv. Nostalgia factor and whatnot. To answer your question, no I wouldn't have supported Hogan had he chose to walk out.
does anyone know anything bout the first time he walked out the only time I know of is this one where he was meant to face UFC former champ Brock Lesnar
@216supafly That is how I felt as well I was there that night and I was looking forward to seeing stone cold finally in person. but the week before he came to my town he grabs his wife and gets on a plane. I didn't care that he walked out on the company I felt like he walked out on the fans.
@Blade5276 stone cold probably had a time machine and looked at the future and saw what the wwe was going to become and got pissed the fuck off hahahaa
this is another reason y Austin is so great he could walk out on the company & come back & b welcome with open arms & still have the love & respect from his real fans. Austin is the greatest of all time period end of story fuck the rest no one even comes close
@MUNDOM316 if you watched 2/14/11 Raw this year you saw that there is one more man who could come back and still be welcomed with open arms and get a pop absolutely not normal for PG era. His name is The Rock and he is up there with Austin, for me Rock is even higher!
@vichy97 the rock higher than Austin? bull shit! tho i love & respect the Rock no doubt he is one of the greatest but Austin is the greatest superstar in wwe/wwf history. The Rock had a huge part in the Attitude Era no doubt about it but there would have never been an Attitude Era with out Austin. Austin > the rock
@MUNDOM316 it's about different opinion. I know Austin started Attitude era but the best year of WWE was 2000 when Rock had to carry it all. He was/is undoubtedly better talker than SCSA and slightly better in-ring too. Austin's biggest plus was his original personality but for me and many others Rock is Rock and that means no.1 in thes bussines period.
@vichy97 rock was no doubt the best on the mic but better in the ring no way in the words of ric flair and vince mcmahon Stone Cold Steve Austin is the greatest superstar in wwe history. & the rock was at his best whenever he faced Stone Cold. Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Hall of Famer > the rock
@MUNDOM316 Rock is the future Hall of Famer for sure, he is not there yet because WWE keep dreaming he will return full time but my opinion is he will be inducted next year in Miami. I just hope they don't let Cena win in Rock's hometown. He doesn't have to put Cena over.
The Rock was awesome with everybody. I don't remember bad match of him, he made everyone look good.
It's 50/50 in the world I think. People who think Austin is better, people who think the opposite. And that's me and you fe
That douche bag Cena could lose for a year straight and he will still sell to little kids. Him always winning and never losing just isn't all that nessisary.
stone cold wasn't telling anyone the pain he was in, he was unfit to wrestle since late 2001, he shouldn't have been in the ring id say after vengeance 2001. He let it get the best of him and he should have told people the physical burden he was carrying.
At the shot where its focused on the beer on the floor. It woulda been awesome if all of a sudden the crowd went crazy and you saw Austin's arm come into frame n pick it up
Stone Cold probably handled this in the wrong way, but he was right in that his storylines had been mediocre and that despite being the biggest draw in the sport he had been regulated to second class status in the storylines lately.
That disappointment, along with injuries, led to Stone Cold walking out and eventually retiring. Not shocking really, he really doesn't need to deal with any of that shit and his body is broken down anyway so let Stone Cold walk into the sunset.
@mattd687 agree, he did handle this wrong way but he was right in his frustration. i always get annoyed when main event superstars are relegated to second class status.
@mattd687 Well that happens a lot these days. WWE use to be able to shuffle guys around well, so even if you weren't wrestling for the title you had an important feud. Now no matter what Triple H, The Undertaker, Randy Orton and John Cena are always in the main event. Guys like Sheamus, CM Punk, Jack Swagger etc only hold the titles briefly before losing them to one of those 4 above mentioned guys. Even when they hold the belt, they are still mid carders as well which diminishes the belt as well
@mattd687 What really aggravates me is this: Guys like Austin, Taker, Cena, etc. don't use "politics" to get ahead of the game. HHH was using the advantage of fucking the boss's daughter to the fullest extent possible.
It got so bad on SD that many young guys went to the Undertaker and wanted consultation. He (Taker) used HHH's "Imperialism" as an excuse to prolong a return. WWE is in a shell of it's former self. We went from Austin 3:16 to "Can I have your attention please?"
@ejr23 you have to look at it from a business stand point. Vince knows he no longer has the Austin, Taker star power to compete with the same level of in your face edgy television that we had with the attitude area that was apparent in the early 2000s. Plus with the growth of TNA that only made things worse for the wwe. So Vince made a genius (however sucky to fans like u and me) business choice to drop the TV-14 rating and appeal to the virtually untapped Family demographic.
@Blade5276 If WWE went "attitude" like they did back in the late 90s, TNA would be wiped out in months (if that). The problem with our society today is that were catering to children. I'm not saying what my father would say (that children should have NO rights and be "property to the parents), but come on. Adults have less authority than kids? Kids today are punks for the most part that have no respect for the proper authority. Maybe when Vince leaves, PG will die.
@ejr23 TNA might be wiped out before 2012 at the rate they're going Attitude or not. And what's the big deal? WWE was PG in the 80s and 90s up until 1998. The rating isn't the problem.
@ShaneMcmahon2011 Yeah with an iron fist! He and his evil empire have fucked up more times with the WRESTLERS, yes I said wrestlers, angles, storylines, etc than Saddam committed war crimes/human rights violations.
@Sweepersucksballs Yeah and those people will never get there because McMahon wouldn't know talent if it bit him on his ass! The Miz? Really?! The only reason he's even there because he was on reality tv. Wow! How hard is it to get drunk and lounge in a jacuzzi every night?
@ejr23 let me just say this. attitude era fans are spoiled. vince dropped the era because the storylines were so violent some of the veterans had to retire like austin, kane, hbk, edge, etc it may not have been after the attitude era but as the years went by. the miz isn't bad when it comes to in-ring abillity. he is a good heel too. you probably don't like the whiney heels but we've have those for a long time. and as for the mid carding main eventers thats not entirely true.
@Sweepersucksballs Do any of the ROH or OVW superstars have Taker, Austin, Michaels, HHH type potential? Because my guess is that there is a bunch of MIZ, Morrison, Otunga mid card crap type wrestlers at ROH and OVW.
@ejr23 how would TNA be "wiped out" if WWE went attitude again. that would be great WWE went back to its old ways but have some common sense. raw is on monday, TNA is on thursday. they arent going head to head. so its no way for TNA to be affected. fans can still watch both unlike having to choose or click back and forth in the 96-01 monday night wars
@TheMile816v2 TNA was on Monday nights in a pathetic yet brave attempt to compete with WWE, and the "campaign'' abandoned a few months later. WWE is a state of slow and gradual decline. They have allowed the product to deteriorate. WWE - No blood or hardcore matches, TNA - plenty of hardcore bouts. TNA - Decent womens/knockouts division, WWE - Barbie dolls compete (for the most part), WWE fans - no emotion and have signs seized, TNA Fans - They have 1st amendment rights. Need I go on?
but i'll agree with this statement... "Vince > Stone Cold > The Rock > EVERYONE".. you are right about that... but Austin is still the greatest superstar of altime
he walked out against a match against john coachman the injuries he says now but deep inside its the storyline coz its pg thts why he hasnt done 1 more match because he doesnt want to be another steve austin thats less than b4 and pg doesnt let him swear. However in a sun article he said he would like to do 1 more match or even more and hasnt denied goin to tna for a bit
@KingoftheRing2011 sorry i cant agree with u on that i will admit that vince is one of the greatest business men of all time i mean no one could match vince on that but i can not agree with u when u say he made Stone Cold, nobody made Stone Cold but Stone Cold himself
@MUNDOM316 Excuse me for C-ing my way into this A and B conversation but I have to ask if Vince is such a great businessman why did he fail with the worst Idea to end all ideas the XFL?
@Blade5276 true the XFL was complete shit but hey everyone makes mistakes but vince is responsible for Wrestlemania, no question one of the biggest events in sports entertainment. yea the XFL was a fail but with his company out lasting & destroying both WCW and ECW, and TNA is no threat at all hes done a great job of having a part in making his father's business what it is today
@MUNDOM316 I think TNA is or at least was a threat. in fact that may be what makes VM a great businessman. Before wwe dropped the tv-14 for the sickly sweet family friendly pg crap TNA had become a formidable opponent. I bet VM realized that with out the talent like Austin and Rock and lack of good material like they had in the late 90s Vince couldn't compete with TNA and their rising star. So being the Businessman he is cornered a market that would mean he wouldn't have to compete W/TNA TV-PG.
@MUNDOM316 Of course that meant the life long wwe fans were getting the Vinnie Mac middle finger and the kiddies were getting all the special treatment but it meant giving the fans a choice. If you want hard edge wrestling go with TNA if you want family friendly stick with wwe. As much as I despise the pg rating and am one of the fans who got the VInnie Mac middle finger it was a genius business move.
@Blade5276 i hear ya on that. as someone who grew up on the Attitude Era i cant stand the pg era & i especially cant stand john cena, but it seems like the pg is slowly but surely going away i mean a few weeks ago the Rock called cena a "Yabba Dabba Bitch" & when Stone Cold made his return last week so did his middle fingers so hopefully these r signs of the pg era going away
I mean,he had full performance since his return from injury, back at September 2000,and he made his first PPV match against Rikishi, and then start from Rumble,he held the WWE Title less then one year only lose twice vs Angle and Jericho
Start at 2002,his performance look not so good,He only win at WM 18,damn i wish WWE gave him more title shot instead put him at Guerrero storyline or Flair
Bottom line here ok this new wrestling are you serious? compare to the golden years of wrestling thast a disrespect in my own wordds because not onlydid we have the wrestler we had the fans who care bout the sports cena please he woldnt even last to mintues with benoit ok hell even eddy RIP ok radny orton he is cool MIZ please you cant call yourself a good champion when u have help to win please one-one with orton no help viper wins and i dont even watch this new crap LONG LIVE ATTITUDE ERA
@HotProperty83 I would not have jobbed to Lesnar either if i were stone cold hell how could you expect stone cold to job also you might not know this but he was also pissed off about the nWo situation he didnt like that he was going to have to take a back seat to the former wCw wrestlers that tried putting the company that he worked his ass off gaining ratings out of buisness in the first place vince aint worth shit honestly either wwe sucks nowdays
I understand Stone Cold. His gave his life for WWE he broke his neck for the buisness...Well Owen Hart did it but still he has bad nerve problems....What more can you ask from him???
Vince Mcmahon is Trash for airing Dirty Laundry and talking about the man that saved his damn company from going out of business. The levels Vince Mcmahon will stoop to just to get ratings is just plain pathetic Vince is garbage.
@Danielson184 Austin walked out on the company a second time. In any profession you walk out you lose your job. Austin may be their top guy but he is not above the company. Most of the time the WWE keeps such things quite and you can only find out about them on the net. But since Austin is Austin they couldnt fire him and not think people would forget about him. So for one of the rarest moments in wwe history they did a shoot promo and laid all the cards on the table. This is not a storyline.
@Blade5276 I know it was real just like I know Austin didn't want to Job to Lesnar I know all the details just like I know During his time off Steve beat the hell out of his wife at the time Debra. I keep up with Wrestling and I just think it was pathetic how Vince went on national T.V. and made Austin out to be a crybaby who took his ball and went home Vince didn't have to tell every detail but with Vince being the ratings whore that he is he told everything and it was wrong.
@Danielson184 But that is exactly what Austin did he took his ball and black and blue wife and went home! That wasnt a big huge FUCK YOU! Middle finger to you? It was to me. I was there the night this was recorded I felt betrayed as a die hard fan. This would have been the first time I would have seen him in person. I bought my tickets because of him, I stayed up all night because of him. but oh sorry kid didnt u hear he walked out. Fuck Austin, he walked because he was a little crybaby.
@Blade5276 I agree that it was wrong for Stonecold to do what he did and definately thought it was very wrong for him to beat up on his wife like he did but there's always 2 sides to every story and I didn't think it was right for Vince to be making out like Austin was the only one wrong here when Vince has been known for not really giving a shit about his talent. Take Kurt Angle for example do you remember how shitty Vince was to him?
@Blade5276 Kinda like what he's doing now with the whole Stand for WWE thing and he doesn't care if he ruins Linda's chances of being Senator all Vince cares about is himself in fact he's so consumed with the whole Stand For WWE thing he's neglecting his responsibilities to the WWE product.
@Danielson184 So I haven't been watching wwe for months now simply because Im tired of the same boring family friendly crap week after boring week but I happened to switch over to USA last monday and got a glimpse of this Stand up for the wwe thing, and I remember you mentioning it, what are they doing with that whole stand up for wwe thing anyway?
@Blade5276 It was because of the attacks that were being thrown to Linda McMahon with her campaing. But she lost and so it won't look like a huge shitbag they're still going on with it. They are trying TOO hard to get some people to forget about the stuff they did in the 90's and while they still make good $ I think they're driving themselves to the ground. The top guys right now don't have "it' in the ring that good, the mayority of the promos and storyline suck (the nexus/cena storyline is..
@Blade5276 ..pretty good), the guys that actually have talent are being either not given the chance or given a shit storyline(Miz is KING right now for me bro) and now with Michaels not wrestling anymore and Triple H is awesome but clearly not the same I don't think they can carry this company unless something awesome happens within next year. Damn what a rant huh? Haha..
@Clyp Rant? Not at all thanks for posting! See for me it was people like Miz (no offense) y2j (only cause he was a whiney bitch) and even nexus that really got me to turn my back. Also HBK left and HHH was taking a break (is he back?) that just made me give up. Now they put the belt on Kane (not sure if he still has it) which I have been waiting for for years but its not enough to get me back as a fan.
@Clyp all through the wcw I waited and waited for things to pick up again but it never did. Then they guaranteed it wouldn't with the whole "New blood rising" never-ending storyline where like nexus the aging main eventers were being fazed out to make room for the less appealing young rookie talent. I wasnt ready to play that waiting game again so nexus pretty much killed it for me. But HHH for me will always be the Baddest of all badd asses so I will check in from time to time until he retires.
@Blade5276 I agree with that last statement FULL, he's the damn best my favorite wrestler. And I get your point I got like this too but Miz keeps improving so much(he just won the championship from Orton :D) that I keep going back watching what he'll do next. Even though it's gotten WAY too predictable sometimes things like tonight happen that makes me come back to see a little bit. But like you said when Triple H retires I doubt that I'll watch it a lot either man
@Danielson184 That being said they did take advantage of the situation and turned it into a storyline. What vince says in this vide is truth not story but they did invite the Rock to make a surprise visit. He was filming a movie in LA this raw took place in Oakland Ca. The Arena is almost exactly across the street from the airport (I was their that night by the ramp) and a flight from LA to Oakland is only an hour. so they did do it for the ratings but it was more then that.
vince mcmahon treat austin like he treats most wrestlers "like a puppet" austin made the wwf what it was/is and its sad that he went because of injury fingers crossed that he comes back X
It wasn't about losing to Brock that was the problem, it was more than that. Austin thought he was God and in his mind, McMahon should treat him as such. McMahon, like the fans, got tired of Austin, and like a crybaby, decided to go home. That is why he walked out, not so much the Lesnar thing.
@wsymphony No, it was about Lesner, Austin didnt think he was god it wasnt about the star treatment. It was all about the quality of writing that was going on. Austin was fed up with the writers taking his character to absurd levels. He thought it was crap with out getting through to people he walked out. One of the big things that pushed him over the edge was that they wanted Austin to drop the belt to Lesner on raw. Austin wanted to drop it at a ppv.
The story of that match would be that Eddie Guerrero would be the special referee for that match and screw Austin, making people want to see Austin vs Guerrero. How is that absurd?
Most likely, Austin saw both Hogan and Triple H in the main events, but not him and Austin wasn't happy about that.
@wsymphony maybe not at the time you are thinking of but at some point that added to the reason Austin walked was that he didnt want to drop the belt to Lesner on raw.
God you guys actually didn't see this coming? Stone cold is still nothing but a pathetic blonde haired noob who just got lucky because people jobbed for him to make him the SOB he WAS in 2002. One other thing, Austin walks out on his company, but in 2003 its all forgotten.... like wtf? You (fans) plead this piece of crap to comeback even though he helped you idiotic (fans) watch the shitty era from 1998-1999, oh but if Hogan or Bret its simply called egotisim? Fuck Austin and his stupid fanbase.
Vince McMahon stick that microphone upside your butt. You go behind Hogan's back, Bret's Back and talk crap about it and then you praise your "greatest" superstar for helping the company when it was you who should've helped your company * I'm not a anti-mcmahon fan but hes a doublecrosser*. And why are these idiotic fans booing him? Because they are stupid, just like Stone Cold Steve Austin. Doesn't matter if Bret Hart talked about his company, at least he didn't walk out on his company.
@tonshaad1230 Brett "the TITMAN heart has one thing in common with Hulk "im 2 close to my daughter" Hogan there both shit at acting aswell as wrestling austin kicked both there arses and still would hes a legend!!
Why would WWE want Austin to job to Brock Lesnar in the Quarterfinals of KOTR?? I mean, come on. At least make that a finals match if you're gonna have Austin job. I'd be pissed, too. Work all those years wrestling and make a name for yourself in wwe/wwf just to get your ass kicked by a rookie, no matter how tough he is or the management thinks he is.
@whoo689 right & look at the state of the company today every Tom, Dick and Harry rookie off the freakin street gets a shot at the (now formally) most coveted title in the biz the world heavyweight championship. These fake main eventers who barely qualify as mid card let alone rookie get to go for the top prize right out of the gate The Undertaker held the wwe title for the first time one year into his career back then that was almost unheard of! Its all crap! But you know at least im not bitter
@akuma4u it was around that time yes. The Brock situation wasnt the only thing frustrating the rattle snake. He walked out for many reasons but the Brock Job was a big one.
~_~ just proves Stone Cold Steve Austin just doesn't care for the fans as we think he is. Walking out on the company that he saved, real "Stone cold" for ya!
Right! Can you imagine how pissed off the entire locker room must have been when they found out they were giving the wwe title belt to Shamus who has been with the company for months I think he made it to champ faster then anyone. If im not mistaken The Undertaker held that record before Shamus. Taker made it to wwe Champ within his first year. Shamus in like six months. Guys like Kofi who could be on that path and Jericho who hasnt held it in a long time must be pissed. Shamus is still a Rookie
Yeah but Like Taker Lesner had the "IT" factor he was marketable shamus is well...not. Shamus is an unworthy rookie who got a quick push. A push im sure pissed off a lot of the locker room who did not get that quick boost up the ladder.
As the biggest Austin fan there is I don't blame Steve for leaving, even at the time. YoungGrizzly82 pretty well described why everything went to shit pretty well but the real story and what pushed him over the deep end was Austin was supposed to lose a match to Brock Lesnar on Raw the week he walked out, sort of a passing-of-the-torch. Austin had no problem loosing to Lesnar but felt (the magnitude of such a match) should be saved for a bigger event in the future, or at very least hyped...
STONE COLD...........THE BEST THERE IS
THE BEST THERE WAS
AND THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the worst things to ever happen to wrestling is that stupid fucking "What" chant! The # of GOOD in ring promos it has ruined has got to be close to 100. Why is it when you get a bunch of fans together in an arena during a live TV broadcast they feel the need to diminish the product with senseless chants that take away from the energy and timing of the show.

tb049 7 months ago
how could you STONE COLD? how could you diss your fans unscripted?
tb049 7 months ago
The reason why Austin left around this time, I believe, is that Vince wanted Austin to lose to Lesnar on an episode of Raw with no build-up whatsoever. It was a total professional disagreement with Austin wanting to have a build to the match. He didn't have a problem with having Lesnar win, but that he had a problem in the lack of build/money Vince would be missing out on had he decided to go through the plan.
HayashiAkio1 7 months ago
@HayashiAkio1 What do you think would have happened if Hogan did the same 1998 when he was to lose to Goldberg with 3 days notice? YOu think you would be as supportive of Hollywood.
ak47523 7 months ago
@ak47523 Well I'm not saying I supported Austin's actions, but that merely I was explaining Austin's reasons for leaving. I never was a big Hogan fan, but like all typical wrestling fans, I still mark out when I see him on WWE tv. Nostalgia factor and whatnot. To answer your question, no I wouldn't have supported Hogan had he chose to walk out.

this is another reason y Austin is so great he could walk out on the company & come back & b welcome with open arms & still have the love & respect from his real fans. Austin is the greatest of all time period end of story fuck the rest no one even comes close
MUNDOM316 9 months ago
@MUNDOM316 if you watched 2/14/11 Raw this year you saw that there is one more man who could come back and still be welcomed with open arms and get a pop absolutely not normal for PG era. His name is The Rock and he is up there with Austin, for me Rock is even higher!
vichy97 8 months ago
@vichy97 the rock higher than Austin? bull shit! tho i love & respect the Rock no doubt he is one of the greatest but Austin is the greatest superstar in wwe/wwf history. The Rock had a huge part in the Attitude Era no doubt about it but there would have never been an Attitude Era with out Austin. Austin > the rock
MUNDOM316 8 months ago
@MUNDOM316 it's about different opinion. I know Austin started Attitude era but the best year of WWE was 2000 when Rock had to carry it all. He was/is undoubtedly better talker than SCSA and slightly better in-ring too. Austin's biggest plus was his original personality but for me and many others Rock is Rock and that means no.1 in thes bussines period.
vichy97 8 months ago
@vichy97 rock was no doubt the best on the mic but better in the ring no way in the words of ric flair and vince mcmahon Stone Cold Steve Austin is the greatest superstar in wwe history. & the rock was at his best whenever he faced Stone Cold. Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Hall of Famer > the rock
MUNDOM316 8 months ago
@MUNDOM316 Rock is the future Hall of Famer for sure, he is not there yet because WWE keep dreaming he will return full time but my opinion is he will be inducted next year in Miami. I just hope they don't let Cena win in Rock's hometown. He doesn't have to put Cena over.
The Rock was awesome with everybody. I don't remember bad match of him, he made everyone look good.
It's 50/50 in the world I think. People who think Austin is better, people who think the opposite. And that's me and you fe

samuell24 9 months ago
At the shot where its focused on the beer on the floor. It woulda been awesome if all of a sudden the crowd went crazy and you saw Austin's arm come into frame n pick it up
Escobar512 10 months ago
Stone Cold probably handled this in the wrong way, but he was right in that his storylines had been mediocre and that despite being the biggest draw in the sport he had been regulated to second class status in the storylines lately.
That disappointment, along with injuries, led to Stone Cold walking out and eventually retiring. Not shocking really, he really doesn't need to deal with any of that shit and his body is broken down anyway so let Stone Cold walk into the sunset.
mattd687 11 months ago
@mattd687 agree, he did handle this wrong way but he was right in his frustration. i always get annoyed when main event superstars are relegated to second class status.
raptorleaf 10 months ago
@mattd687 Well that happens a lot these days. WWE use to be able to shuffle guys around well, so even if you weren't wrestling for the title you had an important feud. Now no matter what Triple H, The Undertaker, Randy Orton and John Cena are always in the main event. Guys like Sheamus, CM Punk, Jack Swagger etc only hold the titles briefly before losing them to one of those 4 above mentioned guys. Even when they hold the belt, they are still mid carders as well which diminishes the belt as well
mattd687 10 months ago
@mattd687 What really aggravates me is this: Guys like Austin, Taker, Cena, etc. don't use "politics" to get ahead of the game. HHH was using the advantage of fucking the boss's daughter to the fullest extent possible.
It got so bad on SD that many young guys went to the Undertaker and wanted consultation. He (Taker) used HHH's "Imperialism" as an excuse to prolong a return. WWE is in a shell of it's former self. We went from Austin 3:16 to "Can I have your attention please?"
ejr23 10 months ago
@ejr23 you have to look at it from a business stand point. Vince knows he no longer has the Austin, Taker star power to compete with the same level of in your face edgy television that we had with the attitude area that was apparent in the early 2000s. Plus with the growth of TNA that only made things worse for the wwe. So Vince made a genius (however sucky to fans like u and me) business choice to drop the TV-14 rating and appeal to the virtually untapped Family demographic.
Blade5276 10 months ago
@Blade5276 If WWE went "attitude" like they did back in the late 90s, TNA would be wiped out in months (if that). The problem with our society today is that were catering to children. I'm not saying what my father would say (that children should have NO rights and be "property to the parents), but come on. Adults have less authority than kids? Kids today are punks for the most part that have no respect for the proper authority. Maybe when Vince leaves, PG will die.
ejr23 10 months ago
@ejr23 TNA might be wiped out before 2012 at the rate they're going Attitude or not. And what's the big deal? WWE was PG in the 80s and 90s up until 1998. The rating isn't the problem.

@ejr23 let me just say this. attitude era fans are spoiled. vince dropped the era because the storylines were so violent some of the veterans had to retire like austin, kane, hbk, edge, etc it may not have been after the attitude era but as the years went by. the miz isn't bad when it comes to in-ring abillity. he is a good heel too. you probably don't like the whiney heels but we've have those for a long time. and as for the mid carding main eventers thats not entirely true.
jhammaster 3 months ago

@Sweepersucksballs Do any of the ROH or OVW superstars have Taker, Austin, Michaels, HHH type potential? Because my guess is that there is a bunch of MIZ, Morrison, Otunga mid card crap type wrestlers at ROH and OVW.
Blade5276 7 months ago
@ejr23 how would TNA be "wiped out" if WWE went attitude again. that would be great WWE went back to its old ways but have some common sense. raw is on monday, TNA is on thursday. they arent going head to head. so its no way for TNA to be affected. fans can still watch both unlike having to choose or click back and forth in the 96-01 monday night wars
TheMile816v2 5 months ago
@TheMile816v2 TNA was on Monday nights in a pathetic yet brave attempt to compete with WWE, and the "campaign'' abandoned a few months later. WWE is a state of slow and gradual decline. They have allowed the product to deteriorate. WWE - No blood or hardcore matches, TNA - plenty of hardcore bouts. TNA - Decent womens/knockouts division, WWE - Barbie dolls compete (for the most part), WWE fans - no emotion and have signs seized, TNA Fans - They have 1st amendment rights. Need I go on?

@MUNDOM316 Excuse me for C-ing my way into this A and B conversation but I have to ask if Vince is such a great businessman why did he fail with the worst Idea to end all ideas the XFL?
Blade5276 11 months ago
@Blade5276 true the XFL was complete shit but hey everyone makes mistakes but vince is responsible for Wrestlemania, no question one of the biggest events in sports entertainment. yea the XFL was a fail but with his company out lasting & destroying both WCW and ECW, and TNA is no threat at all hes done a great job of having a part in making his father's business what it is today
MUNDOM316 11 months ago
@MUNDOM316 I think TNA is or at least was a threat. in fact that may be what makes VM a great businessman. Before wwe dropped the tv-14 for the sickly sweet family friendly pg crap TNA had become a formidable opponent. I bet VM realized that with out the talent like Austin and Rock and lack of good material like they had in the late 90s Vince couldn't compete with TNA and their rising star. So being the Businessman he is cornered a market that would mean he wouldn't have to compete W/TNA TV-PG.
Blade5276 11 months ago
@MUNDOM316 Of course that meant the life long wwe fans were getting the Vinnie Mac middle finger and the kiddies were getting all the special treatment but it meant giving the fans a choice. If you want hard edge wrestling go with TNA if you want family friendly stick with wwe. As much as I despise the pg rating and am one of the fans who got the VInnie Mac middle finger it was a genius business move.
Blade5276 11 months ago
@Blade5276 i hear ya on that. as someone who grew up on the Attitude Era i cant stand the pg era & i especially cant stand john cena, but it seems like the pg is slowly but surely going away i mean a few weeks ago the Rock called cena a "Yabba Dabba Bitch" & when Stone Cold made his return last week so did his middle fingers so hopefully these r signs of the pg era going away

Danielson184 1 year ago 4
@Danielson184 Austin walked out on the company a second time. In any profession you walk out you lose your job. Austin may be their top guy but he is not above the company. Most of the time the WWE keeps such things quite and you can only find out about them on the net. But since Austin is Austin they couldnt fire him and not think people would forget about him. So for one of the rarest moments in wwe history they did a shoot promo and laid all the cards on the table. This is not a storyline.
Blade5276 1 year ago
@Blade5276 I know it was real just like I know Austin didn't want to Job to Lesnar I know all the details just like I know During his time off Steve beat the hell out of his wife at the time Debra. I keep up with Wrestling and I just think it was pathetic how Vince went on national T.V. and made Austin out to be a crybaby who took his ball and went home Vince didn't have to tell every detail but with Vince being the ratings whore that he is he told everything and it was wrong.
Danielson184 1 year ago
@Danielson184 But that is exactly what Austin did he took his ball and black and blue wife and went home! That wasnt a big huge FUCK YOU! Middle finger to you? It was to me. Blade5276 1 year ago

Blade5276 1 year ago
@Blade5276 It was because of the attacks that were being thrown to Linda McMahon with her campaing. But she lost and so it won't look like a huge shitbag they're still going on with it. They are trying TOO hard to get some people to forget about the stuff they did in the 90's and while they still make good $ I think they're driving themselves to the ground. The top guys right now don't have "it' in the ring that good, the mayority of the promos and storyline suck (the nexus/cena storyline is..
Clyp 1 year ago
@Blade5276 ..pretty good), the guys that actually have talent are being either not given the chance or given a shit storyline(Miz is KING right now for me bro) and now with Michaels not wrestling anymore and Triple H is awesome but clearly not the same I don't think they can carry this company unless something awesome happens within next year. Damn what a rant huh? Haha..
Clyp 1 year ago
Blade5276 1 year ago
@Clyp all through the wcw I waited and waited for things to pick up again but it never did. Then they guaranteed it wouldn't with the whole "New blood rising" never-ending storyline where like nexus the aging main eventers were being fazed out to make room for the less appealing young rookie talent. I wasnt ready to play that waiting game again so nexus pretty much killed it for me. But HHH for me will always be the Baddest of all badd asses so I will check in from time to time until he retires.
Blade5276 1 year ago
@Blade5276 I agree with that last statement FULL, he's the damn best my favorite wrestler. And I get your point I got like this too but Miz keeps improving so much(he just won the championship from Orton :D) that I keep going back watching what he'll do next. Even though it's gotten WAY too predictable sometimes things like tonight happen that makes me come back to see a little bit. But like you said when Triple H retires I doubt that I'll watch it a lot either man
Clyp 1 year ago
@Danielson184 That being said they did take advantage of the situation and turned it into a storyline. What vince says in this vide is truth not story but they did invite the Rock to make a surprise visit. He was filming a movie in LA this raw took place in Oakland Ca. The Arena is almost exactly across the street from the airport (I was their that night by the ramp) and a flight from LA to Oakland is only an hour. so they did do it for the ratings but it was more then that.
Blade5276 1 year ago
vince mcmahon treat austin like he treats most wrestlers "like a puppet" austin made the wwf what it was/is and its sad that he went because of injury fingers crossed that he comes back X
hollandgriff 1 year ago
It wasn't about losing to Brock that was the problem, it was more than that. Austin thought he was God and in his mind, McMahon should treat him as such. McMahon, like the fans, got tired of Austin, and like a crybaby, decided to go home. That is why he walked out, not so much the Lesnar thing.
wsymphony 1 year ago
@wsymphony No, it was about Lesner, Austin didnt think he was god it wasnt about the star treatment. It was all about the quality of writing that was going on. Austin was fed up with the writers taking his character to absurd levels. He thought it was crap with out getting through to people he walked out. One of the big things that pushed him over the edge was that they wanted Austin to drop the belt to Lesner on raw. Austin wanted to drop it at a ppv.
Blade5276 1 year ago
@Blade5276 What belt? Austin wasn't champion.
The story of that match would be that Eddie Guerrero would be the special referee for that match and screw Austin, making people want to see Austin vs Guerrero. How is that absurd?
Most likely, Austin saw both Hogan and Triple H in the main events, but not him and Austin wasn't happy about that.
wsymphony 1 year ago
@wsymphony maybe not at the time you are thinking of but at some point that added to the reason Austin walked was that he didnt want to drop the belt to Lesner on raw.

Why would WWE want Austin to job to Brock Lesnar in the Quarterfinals of KOTR?? I mean, come on. At least make that a finals match if you're gonna have Austin job. I'd be pissed, too. Work all those years wrestling and make a name for yourself in wwe/wwf just to get your ass kicked by a rookie, no matter how tough he is or the management thinks he is.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 right & look at the state of the company today every Tom, Dick and Harry rookie off the freakin street gets a shot at the (now formally) most coveted title in the biz the world heavyweight championship. These fake main eventers who barely qualify as mid card let alone rookie get to go for the top prize right out of the gate The Undertaker held the wwe title for the first time one year into his career back then that was almost unheard of! Its all crap! But you know at least im not bitter

@FromLasVegas nah it was the start of 2006 then it hit true rock bottom

ok so to confirm, this walkout was from the time he refused to job to brock?
akuma4u 1 year ago

Blade5276 2 years ago
lesnar held it before shamus, but he was more credible at the time
FauchCold 2 years ago
Yeah but Like Taker Lesner had the "IT" factor he was marketable shamus is well...not. Shamus is an unworthy rookie who got a quick push. A push im sure pissed off a lot of the locker room who did not get that quick boost up the ladder.

Damn, this sure brings back memories, good thing Rocky showed up.
