Thank you! I watched a couple others on the moss stitch, but kept getting my yarn confused... I'm a beginner and knew where I needed the yarn, but was confused as to how to make it do that.... by you saying "yarn in front" before the purl, etc. it helped me big time! Now I'm on my way to the moss stitch!
much too fast for beginners, I know knit and purl but I can't do moss stitch, it seems to double the stitches in number and get into knots. I hoped this video would help but as she knits too fast it's useless.
It looked like you knit the last stitch of the row in the back loop (ktbl) at about 2:59 and 3:28. Though your purled the last stitch through the front loop.
Was I seeing correctly? If so, is this done purposely? Perhaps to make a neater edge?
yes I did knit the last stitch through the back and although I usually purl the last stitch through the back too I didn't do that on this video. The reason was I didn't want to give too much information that might confuse the viewer. It does make a neater edge to do both that way.
I "thought" I knew what Moss Stitch was, but I had it wrong! It is similar to seed stitch. I just looked at Judy's website to clarify: Working on even number of stitches (26, 28, 30 or 32, etc) You work Row 1: knit, purl, knit, purl, etc Row 2: knit purl, knit, purl, etc Row 3: purl, knit, purl, knit, etc Row 4: purl, knit, purl, knit, etc Repeat rows 1-4 Seed stitch is similar: Row 1: knit, purl, knit, purl, etc Row 2: purl, knit, purl, knit, etc Repeat rows 1-2 Thanks Judy!
oh i tried to do this stitch on several occasions and they came out horrible every time!!! i think my stitches are too loose. any tips on how to keep from stitch too loose or tight?
@pheonixphire I believe It's to make the side look better. you have to knit the VERY first stitch when you start knitting but from second row you can just slip the first stitch.
@kantwyn Sometimes experienced knitters cant help but go fast, and if you ever need to stop just hit pause. I know she doesn't purposely go fast but it will help if you just pause it so you can catch up :]
@kantwyn I recommend watching the video through several times before picking up your yarn & needles. Then watch a step. press pause. do the stitch, resume. watch. pause. then stitch...and so on.
sorry I went too fast. I try to go slow, but I guess I didn't. Pressing pause works though, like you said. thanks. please keep watching and look for me on facebook too.

terpentynae 1 year ago
@terpentynae
not quite. you do 2 rows instead of 1. watch again and you'll see. or look at my web-site where it's written out.
