  • check booee 1000 out

  • like this if your listening to this in 2011(:

  • I totally agree Kurt. Easily Little Peggy is the definitive version.

The memories...back to the days when we all thought they would only ever be one person for us in life.

  • i remember listening to this in my grandparents car when i was about 7.now 13 years later i finally get to hear it again!

  • wow what a great song =]

  • thank you God for bringing me back to the first song i ever sang for you, i thought it were angels in my head

  • Voices like this have faded away, beneath the snow flakes or leaves on the tree. Beyond the heavens.

    Happy New Years

    Disco Free KRTH FM

  • I had No Idea that Pet Clark did this song first.

    Thank you

Does the UK' Oldies Stations play Disco now and froget the good Music?

    God Bless

  • lovely song from lovely voice.... skeeter

  • @TL250Rider

She did not do it first, contrary to popular belief. It's just that she was the first to have a huge hit with it. It was first recorded as an instrumental in 1961 by Franck Pourcel. Followed a year later, by Paul Mauriat's Orchestra featuring vocal group Les Satellites.

THEN Petula recorded the song in four languages;French/German/ English/Italian

Then in '63 Peggy March had a huge hit in the US with the song and it sold millions!

My favorite is the Franck Pourcel original.

  • det er ei en eneste fisk...

  • This a Great Cover of a Great Song

    Thank you for the listing.

  • @TL250Rider Yes and the song was first sung by Pet Clarke in French inspite of what Kurt says!!!!! so to say Peggy owns the song is rubbish but there again you can never tell a Yank anything!!!

  • I often wonder if anyone really understands what it is to follow that loved one no matter what....Tests, trials & troubles BUT still together forever........Agape Love I guess. You can't messure it & it is never ending.

  • this wuzz that song al bundy had stuck in his head =) aha !

  • Este cantante tiene una voz hermosa.

  • hearing this song makes me think of sister act....

  • She looks like Joanne Woodward in this photo.

  • this is REAL music right here

  • I also like Petula Clark's French version "chariot"

  • flapjack!!!

  • @patalanaikd124654 what are u talking about.

  • @pokamonmaster1997 flapjack is a cartoon and it uses this song as it's theme :)

  • @patalanaikd124654 since when last time i checked it was about that candied island

  • @pokamonmaster1997 flapjack is a cartoon and it uses this song as it's theme :)

  • drizztlov, who cares if ur 17 0r 107, if u like it u like it!! & im glad u do, 60's was the best x

  • @shalouinman I agree!!!

  • I love this song!!! Which can be a problem when your 17 and your friends dont even know this music..hahaha!

  • ricky nelson did a good version!!

  • this is simply great and classic!

  • sheesh louise somebody can't like Skeeter's version without taking away from LPM? kurtsupreme-- if you want to get all historical, before recorded music, everybody singing a song was the norm. Only in the 20th century did songs become performances identified with particular people. Oh, I guess I will have to throw out all my compilations where each CD is the same song done by god and everybody, because only one person can OWN it. lighten up.

  • this is why I follow the Red Hot chili peppers around

  • Little Peggy March sing this song not Skeeter Davis

  • Good effort but Little Peggy March gets my vote... ahhh... the memories of sitting in the picture theature on a Saturday afternoon and hearing Peggy burst forth over the LOUD speakers during the intermission... (nothing comparative in the home entertainment bucket) a young girls anthem back then however uncool today... :-)

  • good luck if you do!! History say's don't bother.

  • This is the first time I listen to this version but...I loved it since the first chords. Very good!

  • what a beautiful son.g.

  • Fantastic cover by the late Skeeter Davis, but she could sing the yellow pages of a phone book and have a hit. RIP Skeeter

  • Exactly what a great voice

  • Well done! A great song! Thank you! Greatings from Brasil.

  • WOW! WHAT A SONG, WHAT A SINGER!

  • @alkemking

You got that right. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • , "Chariot" (composed by Franck Pourcel in 1961), started like a joke. It was composed with his friends Paul Mauriat and Raymond Lefevre . At that time, everything coming from the US was striking gold, so they invented a story that the song was the soundtrack of a new western movie by the 20th Century Fox: "You'll never See It". With lyrics by Jacques Plante, Petula Clark sung the song and had a hit.

  • great cover of this song as only Skeeter Davis could do

  • Little Peggy March had such a monster hit with this song in 1963 that it spawned all of these cover versions. You may enjoy listening to all of these today and some may have held up better than others; however, I'm here to tell you: Little Peggy March's version was the sound of the day! Back then, there was no comparison............her version was it!

  • Agreed!

  • @kurtsupreme Sorry I think Billie Davies was more than a match for anyone with this and Skeeter did a grand job

  • burnley5960 I purchased this album back in the day because of the monster hit by Skeeter. "The End of The World." This version of "I Will Follow Him" was just an empty cut on the album that know one paid much attention to. Everyone discusses them today as though they are all equal. They weren't! Little Peggy March's version was the sound in the land in the spring of 1963. Skeeter's version didn't even make a blip on the radar screen. Although, it is a very respectable cover!

  • ...I think Skeeter only did this as an album 'filler' and it turned out well and is getting a-lot of 'hits' on you-tube these day...after almost 45 years ...that is remarkable...!

  • Yes, it was an album filler that never saw the light of the day. My issue is with the younger people on this site that do not realize that Skeeter's, Ricky Nelson's, and Dee Dee Sharp's versions were merely feeble attempts to cash in on the fame of the only hit version of this wonderful song that was recorded by Little Peggy March in 1963. Her version of this song was such a monster hit that this song belongs to PeggyMarch now and forever. Imitation is the best form of flattery for Peggy!

  • Burnley That sounds like something a 45 year old would say! "Yesterday" was recorded by everyone and their uncle and many recordings of it were better than the original. Despite that, the song still belongs to The Beatles and THIS song belongs to LITTLE PEGGY MARCH! You were NOT there in 1963 to experience the impact that Peggy's version had on the pop charts........it was so immense that these other covers were recorded to capitalize on her success. This is Peggy's song..now and forever!

  • @kurtsupreme You are so correct, we of the yesteryears know the quality of these songs. They were so good and as we retire into the sunset, they will go with us!!!!

  • @kurtsupreme Still is her song!!

  • @glenysorr Yes, it icertainly is! Speaking of Little Peggy March, I'm going to see her in concert at the American Music Theatre in Lancaster Pa. on Saturday. She'll be there with other acts; however, it is she that I really want to see.

  • @kurtsupreme Yes thats as may be but our own Helen Shapiro was more than a match voice wise for Peggy March

  • @burnley5960 I don't know old you are; however, a hit record is an iconic record of the time that it was poular...in this case, the spring of 1963. Yes, there are many versions of this song that can be compared; however, Peggy has the hit, the spot in history and the place in our hearts and memories. I recently met Little Peggy March and we had a good laugh about people on Youtube who are either too old or too misinformed to know that "Sister Act" was not the place where this song originated.

  • @kurtsupreme Of course I know who sang this first, and I can tell you that as good as Peggy March was and is Helen Shapiro had a better voice I don't know if she ever sang this but she would make a great job of it

  • @kurtsupreme Peggy March had such a great voice, I am still amazed that she was basically just a one hit wonder.

  • @jaemel1 Actually, she was only a one hit wonder in America. After "I Will Follow Him," she went to Europe and Asia with hits in Germany and Japan. She was popular there throughout the 70's. I heard her in concert about a month ago and she STILL has a great voice.........I met her that evening...........she's a nice lady!

  • oh ive been looking for this! i love this song so much!!!

  • ...skeeter used back-up singers from new york on this song...the first nashville based singer to do so...!

skeeter told RCA flew two black weman in from new york to help her record this and others including "i can't stay mad at you"

  • skeeter davis rules

  • Great Song!!!

  • grew up hearing her from my mom. LOOOOOOOOOOVE HER MUSIC.

  • got a motown feel to it..great song

  • i have the original record of peggy march but i did not know it was the original but its the first singing version..

  • Good version but the sliding violins sound exactly like a wounded bluejay.

  • Lovely*****

  • LPM recorded it in English first and many others covered it. You lack some brains - learn to google before you trash others!

  • Apparently they have the brains to post on the correct title, which you apparently don't.

  • I was replying to DarrenNixie but somehow my response is posted in the general comments. Go figure!

  • bravo de diffuser cette tres tres belle musique jadore merci

    tony

  • i love it! it reminds me of my grandmother!!!!!!!

  • One of my favorite from skeeter.. Come a long way back in the sixties.. Love and cherish your song very much..

  • yeh it is!

  • Yep it's from Sister Act :) I love that movie, lol xD

  • me too....! great song and movie

    :D

  • Yup Sister act was about 35 years after the fact, the song was still great way back then

  • omg, taking me back!!! internet is taking me waaaaaaaay back to 6th grade!!!

  • God this takes me back to 1963 along with her singing of ( It's The End Of World )

  • During my life, no song has ever been so lovely than "I'll follow him" for me,but so far as I remember the days of first listening, I used to hear a better orchestration of the song. i wish to have the original one I used to listen. Who can favor me to find it? thanks in advance

  • by Peggy March?

  • you are right, i remember having this 45 by "little peggy march"

  • I love this song. However, Love , like what she is talking about does not exist anymore. So Sad. Back then , yes. Love those 60s songs. My only memories.

  • Good old fashioned love will remain as long as songs like this are played. Amazingly, thanks to Youtube, young people are discovering these great old songs and artists. The idea of true love and romance is the most beautiful part of human existence. It may seem to be hiding at this moment in time but nature has a way reversing trends. Monique, have faith dear heart.

    Joel

  • much better than the Peggy March version

  • Really?

    Honestly?

    Do you really believe that?

Do you know the difference between fact and opinion?

Nevertheless, Skeeter does a great job and is to be commended for it.

  • I agree. Peggy March's version IS good, but its a little whiney

  • Rickey Nelson does the best version of this song. although Skeeter does a nice version

  • bagong1terbang--si

  • Incredible song by the same composer that wrote "Love Is Blue". (Paul Mauriat using the pseudonym: Del Roma)

  • Si.

  • I love the version from the Movie " Sister Act" They do a great Vilolin part. R.I.P Skeeter. Your voice touched alot of hearts.

  • A song that will melt your heart.

  • I love him, I love him.

  • yes its in my favoites but youtube wont let me send anymore vids

  • Super!!!

  • this a greatest songs.... i love this songs very much.....

  • Numero uno

  • yeeeaaaah!

  • mooi nummer

  • Wasn't she such a lovely and wonderful person. Her music will never fade away. This is an excellent song by her. Thanks

  • i like Davis' version, she had the mix emotion of sadness and excitement at the same time. Peggy's was too young, Petula Clark's was too mature.

  • i sure wish i could back in time...

  • What a Great Singer this Lovely Lady is.

    She is Very Sadly Missed.

  • I love her voice.

  • Lovely strong voice, but I prefer Peter Knight's arrangement and orchestration.

  • What a great version of the Little Peggy March

hit of 1963. As a rule, I always like the original singer or group; that does the song. In this case I actually like Skeeter's version better than Peggy's. This version seems to have a Motown Beat, which adds to the appeal of the song.

  • the original is "chariot" by Petula clark

  • Hi PitoAmess. Petula Clarks version is excellent. Can you tell me what year her version was recorded

  • 1962 a year b4 peggy

  • Peggy March made it famous, but she is NOT the original artist, and contrary to popular belief, neither is Petula Clark. Petula's DOES pre-date Peggy's, but the VERY original was a 1961 instrumental

by Franck Pourcel, Pourcel co-wrote it with Paul Mauriat, who, himself would release a version in 1976 with a disco beat. Check out Poucel's original to hear where it all began

  • I HAVE Pourcell's version and I knew his was the original!! :P

Too bad I'm only 22 and people about 60 don't know the music of their own time :P

    lol, just kidding...

  • Don't get too smug, or I'll run over you with my walker! heheheheh

  • Your journey to maturity is all ahead of you.
