  • Αυτά τα Νεφελίμ ακούει κι ο Χρηστάκης κι έχει κόμπλεξ με τον Θρύλο...

  • Happy Birthday Carl McCoy!!

  • Y do people always have to hate on emos? some of my frineds r emo..some r punk, goth, scene, nerds, everything..and I'm just myself..some have called me emo, but I'm not..I'm me...stop hating on other people, just srsly..don't bring ur shit in here, just enjoy the gd music

  • Wow, goth music is cool.

  • @UndeadxGothic Emo is completely different to what you think. I love both genres equally and I can never let anyone diss either of the genres! This band is seriously amazing, no doubt!

  • Sod genre's, it's the music that matters.

Genre's are for followers of fashion. Follow your own star.

    Good music is good music.

  • @frunobulux1 Damn straight! Doesn't matter what it is, punk, metal, jazz, bluegrass, just plain weird, good music is good music. This is great, and is it better than Eric Dolphy's Gazzelloni? No, it's different. Is it better than the Butthole Surfers Some Dispute about T-shirt Sales? No, just different. You're right, it's not the genre, it's the quality. And is So What by the Anti-Nowhere League better than Glenn Gould's 56 Goldberg Variations? Good point pal!

  • @UndeadxGothic Hard to tell from your 4 word answer if you're being sarcastic, my guess is you are.

Just because a band has a goth following doesn't make them a goth band, you want examples. The Cult, The Damned, Siouxsie and the Banshees, New Model Army, I could go on. Goth has long been mocked and ridiculed, the only Goth bands that had any type of artistic merit were Bauhaus and the first Sisters and Mission albums.

  • @UndeadxGothic The Nephilim were not a goth band any more than say New Model Army were goth.

  • fuck emos ill wack emm with my drum sticks lol

  • @UndeadxGothic Somehow little kids think goth means hating your very existence and listening to mcr and nu metal and constantly watching saw movies.

  • Does anybody know what type of Electric Guitairs that FOTN used (more specifically in this era, the 80s)? Love to know.

  • moonchild alister crl's vision. the union...turning in reality through....

  • Sisters of Mercy , eh ?

  • fields of the nephilim formed in the mid 80's in stevenage hertfordshire england

im good friends with a former member

  • THEY MUST COME TO SOUTHFLORIDA!!!!

  • BEST GIG I've ever been to.

My SON took me to see them in Edinburgh in 1988, so I could bring him and his pals back home to East Kilbride. I was stone cold sober and wasn't looking forward to the Gig. Christ how wrong can you be? I've seen the Stones live in 1964 1965 and 1966. This was equal to these - no bullshit.

Class Act. Would love to see them again live.

From an old fart who understands GOOD music.

  • Please Gods, let me see Fields before I die.

And Ayreon, oh and Therion, and Dio, oh wait, bollocks.

  • @MrRockinrobg Hah! I've seen Dio already! :P

  • @MrRockinrobg Hi dude!!! in UK you can see FOTN anytime lol

    Cheers

  • I went to see Nefilim after they released Zoon and Carl McCoy was amazing. He was this dark figure on stage whose eyes seemed to bore into your very soul. This is one of my fave songs of all time and will always evoke special memories.

  • @UndeadxGothic and not just being listened to by goths, but by a 15 year old metalhead :D

  • Carl' s spooky voice blends so perfectly with the outstanding melody! Crossroads of gift and intuition!

  • @UndeadxGothic you're very much welcome :)

  • there was a long time, 19 years a good friend of mine, was named chrisotphe, was a big fan of this band, and now, i would like totold him, you miss me, and a great thank to you, for what i know this band, greeting and cheers from aix, chris

  • @UndeadxGothic cool story pro

  • @UndeadxGothic emo is dead-it was kind of hardcore in 90s :D

  • @kringeren Indeed but Emo is still short for Emotive Hardcore. Yup for those who didn't know that's what emo is short for. I know this even tho I don't listen to any emo music. Doom/Gothic metal and symphonic power metal are my music of choice.

  • Saw the Neph in 87 at St Georges Bradford .... Wore a micky mouse tshirt .. Wanted to be an alternative goth ....... Paradise Lost where the support .. I got so squashed at the front I had a bruise on me chest that lastes weeks.. Thought I'd cracked a rib

  • @ukvespa

Umm, Paradise Lost didn't even form until 1988. Are you thinking of the same band i am?

  • @Heavymetalgamer28 I didnt do that many drugs. Maybe it was 88. Bloody hell. I know it was the Nephilim tour as I had the Uk tour shirt. It was white with black print... ... Paradise Lost from Halifax?

  • @ukvespa

Yeah, that Paradise Lost. Wiki says they formed in 1988. o_O

  • Nice music recorded by a moron, calm down with the amplification.

  • yeeees!

  • Comment removed

  • love this band

  • The Bollox

  • This is my Uncle, lol :D

  • definitely a S.O.M off shoot but there is only one " first, last & always"

  • Can anybody suggest any gothic metal bands of the 20th century???

  • @kanishkahell type o negative

  • @kanishkahell i dont understand idea of name "gothic metal" metal can be depressive, climatic, but not gothic.

  • @byTemari

To me at least, most gothic metal sounds neither metal nor gothic- it seems to mix the worst parts of both genres. And yes, metal can indeed be depressive (Katatonia, Sentenced, and Amorphis, I look at you), but no, it cannot be "gothic". However, that doesn't matter, since I respect both genres.

  • @Heavymetalgamer28 Gothic Metal exists, but many so called Gothic Metal bands are just Symphonic Metal bands with female vocals. You should listen to early Paradise Lost and Type O Negative.

  • @theinmortal6

I am very familiar with both of those bands.... I said MOST gothic metal not ALL gothic metal.

  • @Heavymetalgamer28 Right, I didn´t read it properly. I suck.

  • @theinmortal6

It's fine. And by the way, I'd say later Paradise Lost (with the exception of their synthpop/rock era) are gothic metal as well

  • @Heavymetalgamer28 Yes. They´ve ranked from Doom/Death-Doom/Gothic Metal-Gothic Rock-SynthPop to Gothic Metal again.

  • @theinmortal6

Yes, and always remained gothic.. I would like to see more mixtures of proper metal and proper goth rock, not generic symphonic crap with gothic elements

  • @theinmortal6

Yes, and always remained gothic.. I would like to see more mixtures of proper metal and proper goth rock, not generic symphonic crap with gothic elements

  • @Heavymetalgamer28 Me too. Or at least, Gothic Metal coming from original Doom/Death.

  • i hate the summer i hate the light and i HATE the sun but i love the fields of the nephilim

  • I love this song. Never tire of hearing it.

  • I often think McCoy's voice sounds very similar to Andrew Eldritch but apart from that the FotN and the Sisters still have different styles both musically and visually.

  • Great song and DVD that I own.............I miss the REAL Goth bands...2011 sucks and I am and old school Goth from the late 70's 80's this band is very good.I hate posers, npw and day...go fuck yourselves!

  • @siouxsieandziggy you need to go to he Giffard Pub in Wolverhampton- goth tastic ! great vibe and fantastic music ... takes me back to my teens ( sigh )

  • @siouxsieandziggy bauhaus sisters of mercy fields of nephilimthe cure adam and the ants

  • great band !!!

  • They should make more songs called Moonchild. Every song called Moonchild has been brilliant so far!! FOTN are fantastic, just discovered them and I love it! The type of goth music in Finaland has been mostly metal type like old Amorphis, but I love both! Brilliant (plus Father Ted is brilliant also).

  • Dont shout me down chaps cos believe I love The Nephilim...saw The Watchman tour at Birmingham Powerhaus and followed them ever since...but. Carl is so up his own arse. He didnt write the tracks the rest of the band did..he just fronted it...something for the goth girls to drowl over. sure his vocals made the sound what it is but his creative input was all image.

  • One of my favorites!

  • Comment removed

  • Gothic at it's best!!!

  • If you ever get the chance to see them live do so it will be an epic experience. Probably one of the best live bands around and the atmosphere they create in incredible.

  • It songs god

  • 34 now

  • I'm not goth, but this song is a black classic and deserves to be listened to over and over again :D

  • @MMAC0RE Well, they're quite known by the Gothic world ;) hehe

  • Great to see new generations discovering the Neffs.

  • search ALIEN SEX FIEND!

  • @chechoyasefue -no thanks, done that years ago & they just didn't leave an impact on me (musically) though they were nice enough when I met them in 96-far prefer the Nephilim by a milestone-awesome music.

  • VERY GOOD!!!

  • im only 19, and although being young, i've been a fan of heavy, taseful music since i was 5, and going to high school with kids that listened to mass produced rap/pop and that awful emo/scene shit made me vomit. there were only a handful of kids like myself, with long hair, and every chance we got, we used to belt FOTN! HAILS FROM AUSTRALIA!

  • we have 31 children of the sun around us it seems..

  • this is perfection

  • OMG I LOVE SISTERS OF MERCY....oh wait....never mind.

  • @aryke1 Hahahaha, same here :))

  • True classic - brings back so much memories.

  • Man the quality of this song is terrible

  • Can't wait to see them in October, love this band, and havent seen them since the 80's

  • Bravo, a great statement! Let only those who DESERVE to hear it... Many would love the music, but it's not popular. Stop with this stupid elitism, you help no one with it.

  • Comment removed

  • classic.....................

  • 0:22 so THAT'S where they got the blue lipstick idea for the D&D movie from!

  • Yeah, well these guys are far better musicians then they get credit for, nobody has done sinister aswell as them, call it what you want, but singing about death instead of big asses has some credit I think besides play lasy exit for the pst on guitar and realize this is not for amatures.

  • This is more than just music.

This is more than just a band.

The funny thing is that i don't even consider the Fields of the Nephilim a "good band" in terms of musical virtuosity and variety - but the sheer effect that their music has on my feelings and imagination is just BEYOND WORDS. Only Richard Wagner's creations have a similar effect on me... it's downright miraculous!

  • @dercrazykraut I agree, I think what makes Fields of the Nephilim a good band is the depth of atmosphere their music conveys.

  • @JaniWarheart Yeah, I know exactly what you mean! The thing is that terms like "good band" or "well made music" seem completely off the mark when it comes to Fields of the Nephilim - it seems almost blasphemic to rate their musical craftsmanship or to compare them to other bands... one cannot even really DESCRIBE their music! It's like some kind of "Gesamtkunstwerk" wich you can only appreciate if you let go of categories like "fancy songwriting" etc... well, you know what i mean, right? ;P

  • @dercrazykraut Haha, yeah I know you mean.

  • The voice is slowed down but a good song .

  • @limzog9 Nope. That's his original voice.

  • @christthi

I'd rather say this is gothic rock...

  • @Sidus666 something like that

  • Amazing video! Going back in time today here. These vids were seldom be seen via MTV in Holland in the 80's. Such a shame. Estonishing video. Superbe gothic************

  • In a class by themselves..beautiful cowboys of death

  • moonchild blue water and preacher man were a trilogy telling the story of gr

  • @millbrook79 who's "gr"?

  • BANGING!!!!

  • Wow, this takes me back...

  • I used to love them and I'm still ,but the messages are against my nature as Hellen ,so I denied all this music ,I will always remember as the flourish of my youth in a miss understand way of life. I'm saying these because they represent the abominate RACES of fallen Angels .Other Bands do the same like Blutengel and Cristian Death.

  • @georiderCOH

Seriously, mate - it's only music. Great music though.

  • @somalnicht respect it is great music but only music,i agree an i been into them from the start.

  • @georiderCOH Ασε το Λιακόπουλο φίλε... ;)

  • Is this video meant to be loosely based on the story of Orpheus and Eurydice?

  • does aliester crowley like cucumber sandwiches

  • With this and "Love Under Will" it seems safe to say that they've read their Aleister Crowley. . .

  • A great song from the fathers of Death Metal.

    Do you have Candlemass?

  • @SuperCartiel

You mean 'Fathers of Goth Metal'?

  • @BloodPump Yes, but Fields of the Nephilim is recognized as one of the pillars of both styles.

  • very good video

  • Always loved this video, the double exposures are ace!

  • I'm into new age death metal and the like, and this impresses me greatly, any suggestions similar to this?

  • @DecimationResolve Sisters of Mercy

  • @DecimationResolve Garden of Delight, Dronning Maud Land, Sisters of Mercy, The Mission UK.... but IMO no one goes as deep & thick as FOTN .

  • I believe this song defined the 90's

  • In my opinion, one of there best in the "Early Years".

  • i've just posted the first four songs from "Elizium" in one video, for those who want to listen to them with no cut should check it out.

  • Beautiful.

  • Now I know where it comes moospell

  • Respond to this video... if anyone ever gets the chance to see them live take the opportunity ,you wont be disappointed

  • I want his costume for Halloween!

  • u r all a diseaz and i am the cure

  • beautiful video ;)

  • I read these comments. It is in your blood or it is not. Age has little do with it. I spit on those who think they know enough to rubbish such music. Please die.

  • Great song , and video . One to favorite.

Thank you for sharing . Thanks for sending /,,/ N \,,\

  • @ M0rbides..no offence meant!

  • Ah memories...

  • Save me from this "music"

  • @chris103050 what music? XD

  • This is darkness at a whole new level....

  • i love it....well take no prisoners in the promised war"""" youll die for this.............

  • moonchild lower me down,a serious magickal event.

  • such kind of music shoud be kept hidden and loved by who deserves to know.

with all the shit spreading via radio on present days, teenagers are not ready to back to 80's.

  • @mercy3d

Damn. Never read words speaking more truth at all! Thats why I listen to bands like FOTH and a few others only when I'm either alone in my car or with one of the very few who deserve this music. Kepp it hidden.

  • @mercy3d It IS this way :)

    cool huh? hehe

  • @mercy3d I completely agree. Some music you can only pass on to those you know will appreciate it..

  • @mercy3d hey some of us are im 15 and i love field of the nephilim

  • @Wycryss very good, let me say something. FotN is not just a band to play and say "hey, way cool", but a mix of music, horrorific literature, magical and mistic disciplines, hidden knowledges and so on.

unlike Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Cure, Virgin Prunes, and so on, FotN songs are mistery boxes. the moment we believe we caught the very meaning, we could go deeper and find another one and brighter. from "kthulhu i'm calling for you" to "pray for leviathan", who knows what's in McCoy's mind?

  • @mercy3d

    You are right :)

  • within dark literature we are free to release and explore what the music itself has to offer a different meaning to each person who listens to it and can appreciate its quality to me music isnt just an art its a language it has a hidden secret message to everyone behind its works and being a musician myself its something i understand all to well its not meant to figure out what its about its the idea of guessing its meaning which every person has there own unique guess@mercy3d

  • @Wycryss true but for FotN. take Reanimator, The Watchmen and Wail of Sumer, 3 songs from 3 different LP. Mr. McCoy went through accadic and sumerian history, lovecraft and aleister crowley with his lyrics.

different "arts" have been convolved in one of best shapes i've ever stumbled.

  • @mercy3d excellent comment.

  • @mercy3d RESPECT

  • @mercy3d well, if they listen to this music they are.

  • @Kickapileapoo once "listening to the music" meant searching, getting onto, talking with people (and not by msn or handy... but going out and knocking to the doors), spending hours in records shops, looking in your own pocket and solving the equation with your own finances and the huge cost of an imported record.

in present days you surf internet and get quite all. 15, 20, 25 years ago stumbling in bands like FotN (Laura Vinyl, maybe) was a true event, having theyr records a rarity.

  • @mercy3d I agree one hundred percent

  • @mercy3d well maybe not all of them but you can't say for example that im not ready... Its all i listen to, its all i have listened to... The cure, Fields of Nephilim, Alien Sex Fiend, Shadow Project, Sisters of Mercy etc... If there is a stereo type of teens listening to bullshit it don't mean all of us do.

  • @Duudeer in fact my comment desnt point prople, but the horrible music factory and the horrible way it's pushed in your ears. when you eat mud for years and they keep on trying to convince you there is nothing but mud around, it's hard to find smth else, and if you find it's way too different from such mud that will sound... strange, weird. tastes can be manipulated in order to consume the same goods. music was an art and majors put theyr hands over.

  • @mercy3d

I agree with your statement, this lovely music should be only heard by those who deserve it, but im a teenager and yes while most of my kind now a days are lost in senseless music there are still a few of us with hope. I wish i had been around in the 80's but i still grew up with gothic rock and will live the rest of my live with it.

  • @24darknest21 no offence but 99.9% goth rock is senseless droll. New Wave, post punk, prog rock is real music

  • @Lucifer986

No offence but 100% of what you just said is what's called opinion, not fact. Arguing for factual basis in musical taste is incredibly pointless because such a thing can't ever be. The whole "Only I know what good music is and if you don't agree with me you must have terrible taste" thinking gets so old.

  • @24darknest21 This song is a pop song, like it or not. Saying that it should only be heard by people who deserve it is a terrible attitude. It hit 28 on the UK charts...it was not recorded for the initiated few. I wonder how Carl McCoy would feel about your thoughts when he looks at his monthly bills? The more that are exposed to good music, the better.

  • @therealsanjaypatel

Carl Mc Coy is an artist with a talent for making music with a very special kind of sense. But only people who have the sense for exact this, are able to appreciate it. And if you can not understand this, please do not try to put bad spirit to this nice music. Nearly every artist takes money for doing. Maybe you will give a note on this fact. But there is no reason acceptable, that you make this critic in case of FOTN, of all things. I regret that you do not deserve FOTN.

  • i lol'ed a bit :D

certainly you don't want to be one of them jerks, while at the same time you're being a little elitist bitch :)

  • @24darknest21, that is...
