And another question would you use a wool pad or a foam pad for a similar application. I use a high speed dewalt buffer. It is quite bigger than the one you used will it still get the job done?
I'm a Detailer and I find these videos very helpful. But I don't use Adams products. Would the swirl and haze remover be a heavier grit? Or more of a glaze?
@PerfectLeetuned Here's the deal. I need you to contact me via PM over at Adam's Forums (Junkman2008), or via You Tube email because the questions that you are asking require a specific answer and I don't want you to feel belittled or taken aback at the answer. Only you and I need to see the response and I need more space than they give you here.
Hey junkman your the best , but i just checked out the Adams products and Adam's Starter Porter Cable 7424XP Polisher Kit - its kind of expensive Price: at $329.95 Maybe they cut you a deal for using their product but your average Dude cant buy this stuff. Well I will just sit back and enjoy watching you your good.
@bluesmanreturns I understand where you are coming from. The stuff is expensive depending on your income but for what it can do for maintaining your paint in the long run makes it well worth the price. Especially in resale value. In my 20's, I couldn't afford it. Now it's chump change. My secret? College degree.
@UtzChips2009 Actually the reason they did it was because the hook portion wears out the fastest and is cheaper to make. The benefit is twofold for the customer: 1. Longer Lasting contact for the pads 2. Lower cost to the consumer.
@hiyukenmusic If you were wet sanding an entire car, I would assume that you would be painting it also. That whole process is totally different from this. What you see in these videos is strictly for removing minor scratches.
Dude you are the man!!!! I don't know if you went to school for this or if you just learned all this on your own, however this is by far the best video and proper way to do wet sanding!!!!!! You explain every thing step by step, how ever you should change the title of the video to WET SANDING FOR DUMMIES,,, LOL... Great job on the video also!!!!
Junkman I learned a lot from your videos. First, that's way to much work... I'd rather pay someone to do it, but you enjoy it so it's all good. If you lived near by and want to make some extra cash, I'd have you wet sand my vehicle. Also, your presentation is excellent, calm and clear. I could see you on This Old House or something. Keep up the great work, I'm going to check out some of your other videos. Peace.
@physiques Thanks for watching! As far as sanding an entire car, I don't like doing this that much! I'd pay someone to do that too. That's way more work than I would do! lol!
im not hatin, im just bein skeptical because i swear by my rotary....but i would have to see that in the sun before i believe that you can get sanding marks out *perfectly* with an orbital, foam pads, and swirl remover.
@richiez7 Your skepticism is understandable, especially if you are of the old school family. Things have changed a bunch since you were taught how to do this. As a matter of fact, I could send you links to work that I have done using these same methods that would blow your mind. Shoot me an email and I will do so if you want to see.
Only after your arms damn near fall off! I've seen one guy do one little spot on a car and it took him forever. There ain't no amount of money in the world that could get me to do a car that way. You wouldn't even get a quarterpanel out of me that way.
Thanks for demonstrating

So basically the swirl remover is just polishing compound?
theciskokidd 4 months ago
@theciskokidd All polishes are some type of swirl removing agent.

The reason 3M changed the setup, was so that those who use their product, will have to purchase more products.

How would this process be different if you are wet sanding an entire car? Larger block, multiday, larger polishing pads

You saved me a lot of money. I didn't know that the PC would work fine after wet sanding. I had always heard that I would need a circular etc.
thanks!
wesprattakron 1 year ago
@wesprattakron
It totally depends on the grit paper you use. 2500 and up is fine for the PC.

If I apply the swirl and haze remover by hand instead of using a orbital will I still be able to get fairly good results?
Please answer asap!

Buy a PC-7424 and be done with it.
Junkman2000 2 years ago
agreed. at the minimum, get the PC.
builthatch 2 years ago
applying haze remover by hand can only hide the swirls
to truly remove the swirls you must use a machine
