I just dont buy the acting in this game at all.

What kind of acting? The script? Yeah, it's pretty bad. They should definitely hire someone who can write something more ambitious than that.

Otherwise the production value is amazing. The VA is very professional, but it's hampered by the bad writing. The character models are wonderfully animated during cutscenes, but that makes them appear even more robotic and lifeless by comparison when set on "neutral", like alex.

Good points. I think its mostly the voice acting that bugs me. Its almost too textbook trying to match the movements. I want more flowing dialogue.

Regardless, I dont play alot of video games.

Nontheless valve is going to great lengths to create a great narratuve, and you can see the insane amount of effort that went in. Which makes the shitty script even more so jarring. A skilled eye can see all the subtle moves and tricks - at one point I realized I felt an emotional tingle of envy as alex kissed the vort. That was a very intentional move on valve's part.

sounds like x1200 series on board graphics. get a pci express video card. an ati 3 or 4xx or nvidia 8 or 9xx series card and do the rest of that system justice, then play this game on high.

Doctor Breen surrendered in name of the earth and became the communicator between combine and men. When he was defeated, the combine wanted to activate a super portal to let a lot of their men arrive on earth. This would surpress the resistance again. They want to dominate again, because Gordon Freeman killed a lot of their men and is taking over control together with the resistance.

Well it was certainly longer than EP1 so they made a big improvement there. So most likely EP3 will be slightly longer however I think they get the length just right otherwise it gets a little boring even though it is Half Life.
