  • Holy jesus don´t do this anymore with this car. The salty water will destroy it. Trust me. I own one of this cars.

  • Awsome footage. Too bad it was filmed with a Potato

  • GREAT SHOTS of a Schwimmer swimming - I want one of these

  • Where is it ?

  • wow, this is amazing

  • Superb wheel ball bearings and joints quality !!

  • Kubelwagon?

  • All time favorite VW! Bad ass VW Schwimmwagen! :D

  • I'm jealous :(

  • where in the world is this it kinda looks like the mediterranean but cant be certain please I'm just curious

  • If you are able to find one in good shape, it'll cost you around 110.000 Euros. They are extremely expensive, because there aren't many left...

  • ISUZUUUUU

  • THAT IS AWESOME!

  • looks like a shark with wheels ^^

  • Chitty chitty bang bang!!!

  • This is the perfect vehicle for getting away from the cop cars, you don't need a fast car you just need a schimmwagen!

  • una verdadera joya ya que ese vehuiculo tiene facil mas de 60 años y es totalmente funcional!!! felicidades de verdad y muchas gracias por compartir esa maravillosa experiencia.

  • Stupendo!

  • drool....... 8D_

  • Awesome vehicle ! I wonder what kind of maintenance is required after a salt water swim like this. Does it steer with the front wheels or is just an instinct ?

  • @pablof59 The front wheels act as a rudder in the water.I imagine as long as all your seals are in good shape, all you'd have to do is thoroughly rinse it after running it in salt water.

  • nice video...it's great to see this car in action

  • it's great to see the car in action

  • I hope, this is not salt-water !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i want one a LOT, how much would someone have to pay for an restored original one? no way you could road register one of the kits here in Australia

  • Some bigger tires might help it schwimm a little better.

  • Nice peaceful scenes... unique view from underneath

But this car seems to overturn or sink easily.

  • only place in the world you wont get a ticket

  • DO WANT!

Great to see one in it's element! Although, after a run in salt water the PM routine must be .... ermmmm ... fun, hahaha!

  • I wonder what the diver was thinking? Hmm, i wonder what this bit does? squeek squeek, pop, pssssst , blub blub blub!!!!

  • Those Cars are greaat... and we´ve got some one of them too :D:D:D:D

  • I hope thats a lake and not the sea...

  • i love this vehicle!have done since making the original tamiya kit back in the 80`s ; would love to own/restore one, but as less than 15000 were produced, they are pretty rare & therefore expensive.roll on the lottery win...! making do with the dragon 1/6 scale version....

  • @harrier21 cool, are you going to RC it? I wish I had the detailing skills to make models look excellent. I can build them but painting and weathering is a different story. I've seen schwimmwagens for around 50-60k in rough shape :) There was a guy last year who found in a norweigen forest, free for the taking!

  • @FreakCitySF nah,the plan is to make it as a restorred schwimmy as per my reference photos;truth is i`m primarily an aircraft moddeller ,so weatherring isn`t my strong point.i lwork on the tunnel,so get cheap trips to frogville;have checked out dozens of german bunkers & sites around northern france;haven`t found bugger all as yet!!!still, will keep looking...one day i`ll find my schwimmwagen!!!

  • @FreakCitySF - I saw a Schwimmwagen the other day on some Austrian website, for $200,000 USD (or maybe even Euros)...but then I think it had been fully restored...and well restored at that.

  • @harrier21 You can buy a new one. They are making them now

  • makes me dreaming owning one some day ! ! ! You're lucky Dude.

  • Wspaniały!!!

  • rewelacja

  • Was that a TROLLING MOTOR on the back????? This is the ULTIMATE lake fishing rig! Drive to the lake, unload the truck, drive INTO the lake, fish, rinse, repeat.

  • Yea I seriously envy them and them leaving it floating for 3 seconds unmanned makes me want to jack it.

  • *ENVY* :D!

  • Paradise is having a Schwimmwagen in such a beautiful area. I seriously envy these people. Some guys just have it so good....

  • increible, padrisimo...

  • i knew this vehicle but i didn't know that is a Volkswagen

  • The perfect vehicle! Drive to the store in town, fish on the resivoir, And duck hunt in the pond while your at it!

  • @fxdrdnme Duck hunt with the Mauser K98?

  • dam

  • I can see doing dive charters with this as well as fishing. What a rig!

  • Schwimmwagen sehr gut!!!

  • the real trick is good speed and good mileage

  • Nice little vehicle ... ^^

  • where can i buy one

  • in the '40-s German Army.. try at the Wermacht XDDDDD LOL

  • its like a big lovable dog :D

  • with this, you don't need a car lift to work on it, just a scuba system lol.

  • as steve irwin would say ("CROCKEEE")...

  • "Excuse me, fellow marine enthusiast! I was hoping you could help me - my car floated away."

[2 weeks later] "And in other news, a VW car floated in with the morning tide."

  • its hard to find one in good condition and in a good condition it will cost alot of moneys

  • You can buy a restored Schwimmwagen for $120,000.

  • water bug?

  • Sweet sweet sweet, I just love bugs, anykind.

  • und wir fahren

    und wir fahren

    gegen engeland

    engeland

  • I wish they reproduced these, like the vw type 82 kubelwagen... these are so beautyfull

  • dutchforces:

It probably wouldn't have been profitable for them... It would be cool though... Even cooler if they could reproduce the Kettenkrad (VW group aquirred the group that made them decades ago, presumably gaining the Kettenkrad patents in the process), but again, it'd be far too much effort for far too little gain...

  • i don't think that the salt is the best for the vw.

  • that's a real off-road car

  • Damn im glad im VW for life! PROUD!

  • WOW

  • There are reproduction kubelwagens which are affordable. But these are awesome! A boat which you can drive on land.

  • Great you using it

    Ferdinand Porsche would be proud!!!

  • awesome machine

  • GREAT....! muy chido video mi friends...

  • Great to see these old warhorses being used (here in salt water no less!) rather than remain as trailer queens sporting 'Don't Touch' signs and fenced off at MV shows. Life's too short to do that! Kudos to you.

  • @1944GPW

In salt water, yeah. So the guy would better double double everything in terms of maintenance. Otherwise, this VW won't last long, and that would be a crime.

  • It's like watching a manatee...bulky and yet graceful!

  • que divino que ese modelo de vw , lo que hace en el video esta lindo para cambiar una rueda o el aceite jeje si no tiene fosa
