I noticed this too, I think it's some kind of musical piece that they are sampling. I actually collect songs that have that off-timed guitar with the grav-blasting drums. So far I have about 15 bands that do it, including these guys, Oceano, and The Faceless. It's all over the place.

I agree with you about the technical and talented thing. Its ture, anyone can play technical with enough practice. Thats how everyone gets better. I also agree with you when you said there are few composers who can actually write songs. Such as Mikel Akerfeldt, Muhhamad Suicmez, Tommy Emmanuel and Amadeus Mozart.

But I still rekon that this is okay music. I only really like it for the breakdowns and the way it doesnt have deathcore vocals. Only death vocals.
