The first music I heard from Quicksilver was in '68 and I was in a record shop and they were playing The Fool from their first album, 13 minutes long, purely instrumental with a lovely vocal near the end. What is that, I said to myself, fantastic music. Have loved them ever since.
Quicksilver was the very first album I bought way back in the sixties. These guys were so far ahead of their time. The song construction and guitar playing was some of the greatest of that era. These guys and the Dead are the best!
Elmore, a truly unheralded drummer ... dig his work with the band 2:36 thru 2:56 where he nails it ... great stuff ... tks for posting ... saw them do this live in '71 and the ending was mind blowing with the whole band building to a huge crescendo ... long live QMS
It's one of my all-time favorities too. The part around 3:08 is priceless. What a great band. They used to alternate pulling stunts, practical jokes, with the Grateful Dead in SF, during the Merry Prankster days.
Is this the best tune ever .........

This is garbage - QMS were going dowhill from this album --Dino joined them and made them rock and roll again

Then Dino showed up & John Nicky & David quit to get away from him.
What would this sound liike with out them? Worst trade in Music History.
This sounds great as they always did.
Thanks!

From the album "Shady Grove" which I haven't heard since the late 80's. Way too long.

'you may never wake'
is parallel to the message of the beatles in 'while my guitar gently weeps'
speaking of the perils of the narcotics influx.
