@Kahn2580 Sonata had Stratovarius influences early on, and then "some" Nightwish influences. Tuomas doesn't seem to have been influenced by Sonata.

For anyone on here comparing/contrasting Nightwish and Sonata Arctica I just wanna say something.

Both bands are great friends with each others, and play great music. If you like one, the you just hae to like both.

They are both really great bands, and thus Nightwish has female vocals and songs of another side of power metal, they are not to be compared with eachother. After all Sonata - as Tony said in an earlier interview - were influented majorly by Nightwish but did not want to walk in their footsteps and avoid these bands ultimately playing the exact same kind of power metal, in other words - compete with eachother.
