  • I actually discovered Tiffany Hill and subscribed to her after I commented earlier to you. Thank you for passing on her name, as well! I've put Ewittborg in the search box but can't seem to find anyone under that name. I'll try again. Thank you for your previous response. I do agree!

  • like this Youtuber....

The reason I'm asking is because - up 'til now, I've interpreted songs more like you do. Maybe that's the difference between an interpreter and a signer. I'd love your input on this.

  • Does that make sense? No right or wrong, just different levels of processing and different target audience.

    Have a great day!!! SH

  • I'm curious.....Your translation/interpretation is such that you are interpreting the message rather than presenting it with 'creative freedom' as a song. I'd be more inclined to do it as you do it...but is there a right or wrong in this? I've seen it both ways.

  • Hi opendoor1983~

My quick answer is it depends on who your audience is...I've seen the allybally vids a little, and others like that. Fun and clear but not in an ASL interpretation that is for a Deaf audience. I can put out a more literal transliteration, but the meaning is conveyed for a Deaf/ASL audience by interpreting. Have you seen TiffanyHill or Ewittborg? Two ex. of ASL interpretations. The popularity in the more literal signed versions is that the general public wants to copy sign.

  • @Shelllium At my university there are at least 3 sign song groups. Their audience is mostly hearing but they think they are doing ASL. I can't blame them since they are hearing and don't know how to sign. I offer to help them work out songs for a Deaf audience, even they appreciate the more conceptual performance rather than a word for word song.

I once met a girl who knew some Signs and Hula Dancing and incorporated them into a praise dance type performance. Very Lovely!

  • Hi hamolina~
