I must say,this is a glorious voice,one of the best... Lets be fair though , when we compare singers,it is easier to sing an aria semitone lower ,(Di quella pira,Che gelida manina and this one come in mind). Mr. Fleta is singing this a semitone lower than written,sings a high C , NOT a high C sharp. Still a great singer...

Il canto manierato era parte del modo di cantare del tempo come quella dei soprani che bambineggiavano anche se con timbri di tutto riguardo (la Toti una fra le tante, che aveva un timbro chiaro e dolce e corposo e la moda la voleva cinguettante).

ASTONISHING! Compare this version with Pavarotti's versions from the 1970s... and you see what's been lost in bel canto in 50 years. You have to love Lucky Luciano... we all did.. but this is something else: the mixture of head voice, the liquid and individual phrasing, the round, warm, even tone, the secure top, the messa di voce.... It's all there... Better than Lauri-Volpi's more squeezed and nasal approach, too.

In my not so humble opinion.

In his prime, Fleta had a big, rich and technically accomplished voice, with remarkable diminuendos on high notes. Not for nothing did this tenor create Calaf in "Turandot." Yet even here, Fleta's voice betrays some wobble, suggesting that Fleta tended to push his voice past its previously well-balanced registration. And he died at 46, having long since fallen into wobble. Even so, Fleta's best records remain well worth hearing:) --

La voz de Fleta es la mas aproximada a la del gran Enrico Caruso, voz de gran potencia y versatilidad que podia cantar todo el repertorio tanto bel cantista como lirico dramatico y verista. Son raros estos tenores actualmente

He was absolute great, far beond many many others. Imagine how this would sound if it was recorded with today's equipment.

Fleta was so beloved by all, that it made him perform so much. Alas, to much, he dammaged his voice to soon. With his 40, this wonderful singer did stop his speldid carreer. But once heared him, you will never forget.

Fleta had a privilege voice and also as opposed to others like Caruso and Lazaro did have the advantage of recording in electric equipments not available to the latters. Therefore to make comparisons as always is quite risky.

Actually we HAVE singers of that level all around France, but as there are no more TROUPS to hire them when they're ready, they are not give the opportunities they diserve.

I know at least 8 singers of Fleta / Mesplé / Dens/ Crespin level who are obliged to do something else for a living. In France they only hire stangers because they are cheaper, and abroad they don't hire french singers because they don't have experience in they native country...

Mi spiace ripetermi, ma trovo questa interpretazione stupefacente, considerando che il pezzo è adatto a voci soi disant più leggere di Miguel Fleta. La bravura di questo artista è incommensurabile! Una delle chicche? La DIZIONE, insuperabile....si capisce TUTTO, cosa che spesso latita anche nei più grandi e nei non italiani.

Hai ragione, interpretazioni come questa sono stupefacenti perché appartengono a una civiltà vocale e intepretativa che non esiste pià, esauritasi appunto con i Fleta, i Lazaro e i Lauri Volpi. Eredi del grande canto ottocentescoe e in possesso di una tecnica di emissione che gli attuali tenori possono solo sognarsi

Increible. Infalible fleta. Dadle al fleta lo que es del fleta jeje. El mejor tenor de la historia sin paliativos. Esa pasion y ese sentimiento que le pone es puro e insuperable. Mito fleta.
