Absolutely, Khmer cannot do like this.

Because, when Khmer was one of Thai's colony, Khmer royal court Khon has been all copied from Thailand during 1780 - 1867 before Khmer was sold to France in 1867. So, they cannot perform as well as Thai can since they could not copy well at that time. You can find this fact in French Archives.
