I assume non vital bleaching was unsuccessful and the patient did not want a upper partial so they decided to use it as an abutment. The post and core was overkill though....
@justinunderwood the idea is when the tooth has root canal treatment it becomes non vital and britlle so posts can be used when the defect of the tooth is more than 60%
It is still the best technique to fabricate indirect posts (when indicated). Better than any direct impression, with VPS or polyether.

no need of post, even crown not needed here.. the tooth is intact, why he didnt restored it if needed

Its non-vital and has had RCT so you need a post so it wont fracture during function
