Why don't they run OS X on a regular PC? Oh wait, Apple won't let you...

It's funny, even on Mac computers which are optimised to run OS X, Windows 7 will still offer better performance than OS X in many aspects such as multimedia, 3D rendering and of course gaming.

Run OS X on a PC optimised for Windows 7 or Linux and there'll be no competition; this is precisely why Apple won't let you do it.

I think it come down to what you are comfortable with because neither can be 'the best' it's what the end use gets out of it. I have a Windows 7 PC, a Mac and a couple of computers running Ubuntu Linux. Personally I think Windows 7 and Mac OS are both good operating systems and Ubuntu is good when you consider that it's free but that's just my opinion, you might disagree with me about Ubuntu and you might disagree with me thinking OSX and Windows 7 are practically equal, I don't care

@vuurwerkl in my experience that is actually complete bull. I'm running an iMac with Snow Leopard and i've never used a more stable OS. Windows is notoriously unstable. YES, Windows 7 is more stable than other versions, but it's far from the most reliable OS out there.

Comparing prices for both OS's is rather odd, seeing as you need to buy a hugely overpriced Mac to even be able to run Snow Leopard. Apple is a hardware company, Microsoft is a software company. That's where the real difference lies.

@ApFaqTech dude! when you use bootcamp to run Windows on a Mac you ARE running a Windows PC! There's absolutely NO performance loss. It runs identical to how it would on a PC with the same exact specs. Therefore the test was PERFECTLY fair. In fact, they seem more biast towards Windows to me. I've NEVER had the lockups on Snow Leopard that they mention. If one 3rd party app goes down, just force quit it and all is good.

@ApFaqTech Using the same computer for both is the closest they are going to get to having two equal spec computers. A Mac and a PC are essentially the same and the only difference is the Mac's EFI bios, apart from that it is axactly the same thing as a regular PC and the fact that the computer is made by apple isn't going to make much of a difference if any at all
