  • Ticlano, thank you for your comment. You can get them any where. Online stores, catalogs. You can also get them at ElasticSteel website.

  • I appreciate all of your hard work on these videos. It's eye-opening to see you discuss the kinesiology, biomechanics, and intent of each punch, kick, etc. Not only are you saying that proper positioning is strategic in a fight as well as more effective. Thanks again, and keep up the good work. I plan to get your DVDs.

  • milesfernandez, thank you for your comment.

  • You rarely see a fighter who can keep his hands in the right place most of the time.

  • That's true.

  • Interesting Training Exercise.

Which martial do you come from?

  • A mix of styles.

  • Here is something most people won't teach you.

  • Thank you for your comment.

  • Is this good training, even if you don't punch?

  • It will help you with your guard when you kick.

  • Yeah, why not?

  • Very important for good kicking.

  • Very important not to get hit as well. lol

  • Don't most kick boxers keep their hands up when kicking?

  • This is a topic that is rarely touched, when kicks are discussed. Thanks.

  • You got it.

  • It's great that you know how to get athletes to keep their hands up. I seen moron coaches yell "Keep your hands up" and they think that the more they yell the faster it would help.

  • Doe that work for boxers?

  • Why not?

  • Do you think the reason we drop our hands when we kick is because it lowers the centre of gravity and makes it easier to balance? Keeping the arms up probably requires more balance, that's why it would surprise people. I wonder if kicking with hands overhead, or maybe hugging a medicine ball, might help with that?

  • Very often hands are used to initiate the force transfer from the trunk to the leg, by using the arms to guide the movement of the trunk.

At the same time arms often counter balance the kick.

Shoulder strengthening plays an important role in controlling the position of the arms.

  • Quick question. When I throw a front kick, my supporting leg's foot turns outward and doesn't point forward. How do I correct this? Or is this supposed to happen? Say my kicking leg is the left. Illustrating the direction each foot points:

    My kick: |/

So in other words, my right foot tends to point slightly outwards instead of staying straight.

  • There is nothing wrong with the supporting leg being turned out. If anything it adds to distance and force transfer through the body.

  • That's an even better idea, didn't think of that.

  • Exactly right. It's good that your heel turns in as you twist around the ball of your foot. That allows you to engage your hip more and adds more thrust. .....ElasticSteel...what Martial Arts do you study?

  • ElasticSteel is based on Kinesiology and Biomechanics of the kick, rather then on any specific martial arts style.

  • Thats an interesting take on martial arts. Great stuff. What do you have for a Thai Boxing round kick?

  • yep i guess the most people really dont train this arm area

  • nice kicks

  • awesome.

  • good video ;)
