If you want a street rod you should buy one not this . Get a Busa or an R1 and use a bike that is built for speed and twisties. This seems like a bike for Harley fans who think they need a street bike , Dont bother get a bike that is built for the purpose.

Yeah, it would be better for all around handling and stuff. I am actually contemplating getting one. It is much roomier than the typical sportster. I am 6'4" and actually felt ok on it when I test rode one. It will either be that or one of the Honda Fury choppers (I know it's a Honda) but for Honda it is a bad ass bike. Both are around my price range

I have a cafe modified sportster and i'm really surprised to see the XR alway at such an high RPM range.

On my mine, on this kind of roads, I ride between 3500 and 4500 RPM and don't need to push higher....

It sure revs free! I think it looks a bit heavy though and despite the USD's it still bottoms out and wobbles in the tighter turns. Fun enough but I miss the old 1200 roadster.

It's coming to the US. It will be "officially" be announced Dec. 5th at the IMS but US dealers started taking deposits today for the first run of 750 units.

This bike is on sale in Australia right now, and is marching out the door. I am in the process of getting my act together to get one. Australia is a mix of long distance freeway and very tight twisty country roads and the XR should suit well.

The seat is too hard for long rides, the rear brake reservoir is right on your ankle and the fuel tank range is truly pathetic unfortunately. But dammit it looks tops and is the right mix of sport and cruise and I'm hopefully getting one real soon.

09 xr1200 will be available in canada soon, one is on order for here toronto and they expect a full line come spring 09. Guessing it should hit the US market even sooner.
