  • Great and graceful original Khmer traditional dance. We had this same dance on the wall of the famous Angkor Wat while our neighbor still nomads.

  • Copy the Thai culture.

  • @Miracle2551 Thy both copy eachother

  • @Miracle2551 : Go back to school again. Read history books written by independent writers other than Thai writers! before the 13th century, your ancestors were just nomads, no land while the Khmer had glorious city and magnificent architecture already. I hope yr fellow Thais not stupid as you and you not stupid like your father cos of his genes.

  • @..@ Beautiful!!!!!

  • Southeast Asia was a home of Khmer people, Thai were kicked out of Tailand in Nanchao by the Mongol and they became the slaves of Khmerpeople and they copied Khmer culture since then. Watch video on my channel Thai copied even Khmer Angkor Wat for Thai royal palace today.

  • We just want to let all of the foreigners know that Cambodians learned it from Thais. Cambodians did not the origin of the dance. It's Thai who created.

Please understand us, a lot of Thai culture are thought to be other country's nowadays. We need to announce the correct information to the foreigners just before it's too late to protect them.

  • I think the lady with the black hair

    is my Cambodian Dance Teacher

    :o

  • This reminds me of that scene from The King and I :)

  • XD absolutely gorgeous!

  • The ancient Apsara dance 800 years ago were way better because they traditionally had no shirts on!

  • I agree the approach to music is similar, but this and thai music do not sound exactly the same.

  • I am currently in the rural area of Kampong Speu! I appreciate a lot my life here in Cambodia. I show great interest in the traditional Khmer music, which sounds exactly the same of Thai music.

  • no no, thai music sounds like khmer music. dont get it twisted.

  • i love how you all like "don't get it twisted"

    lmao

  • thai music and dance is heavily influenced by khmer traditions. unfortunately it was all but obliterated by the khmer rouge.

  • @stuffledtoy : Do you stupid . King Norodom I ( Ang duong ) ask the Thai royal court send teacher to teach Khmer to dance . Its the truth . Please stop cheating and attemp to stole Thai culture .

Thai people teaching you how to dance , don't be forget .

Before stupid posting please study the history of your own country carefully.

  • @sirisaktan first of all I don't "do" stupid. second I'm not cambodian.third you're an idiot. it is common knowledge for those with some inkling of Thai and Khmer history that Thai culture has borrowed from other cultures just as all other cultures to some greater or lesser extent have borrowed from each other. Many Khmer loanwords are found in Thai and Lao and vice versa. The Thai Alphabet is derived from the Khmer alphabet, which in turn, is derived from the Pallava script of southern India.

  • @sirisaktan When the royal khmer danse begin, you are still at nanchao in china, because you can see it in the scarving at angkor wat built in the 11th century. And Unesco has classified it as cultural world heritage. I don't where you have these wrong information, please give your source

    nutier

  • thank you, it's really nice!!!

  • actually thailand FAILD AT DANCING KHMER IS GENTLE.

  • great vid.

  • Come on Thai have nothing that close to Khmer, but using our alphabet and writing system and clam that they get it from some old scripted, yeah right. Come on, get the fact right. Just like the Viet, that used to writ there latter in chines latter and now they writ in Latin. what a joke. Come on with these Thailander, clamming that everything were there. The cultures of Thais, yeah right.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • umm..Everyone has their own opinions on who cultures came from where and who copy who.But to me I think that everyones country's history is said and written to make sure that it satisfied that particular group or that particular country so therefore we dont really know what is true and what is not..But happy to be Asian tho!!

  • hey guys.... khmer pride

  • i did the apsara dance on 1:24

that shit looks easy but its hellah hard

patience and flexibility makes it look good.

    -thi

  • I speak Cambodian and yea i like Cambodian songs!

  • Khmer empire spreaded its culture across SE Asia all the way to Malaysia. Khmer empire covered present day south Viet, Thailand and Laos. Khmers interbreed with Thais and Loasians.

  • i love the khmer dances. i think the coconut dance is the best

  • WOW....such a vast amount of ignorance. We Laos, Thai, Cambodia) are all derived from the same group called Tai from southern China, and respectively settled in the Southeast Asian basin, and warred with eachother repeatedly. To say that Laos and Thai originated from Cambodia is a pretty gross (as in broad, not the other one, I don't have anything against khmer) generalization!

  • WRONG. Laos and Thai originated from Southern China. Cambodians are the original south east asians and was once the Khmer Empire. We are naturally Dark skinned. When Thais immigrated to southeast asia there was an interbreed, thats why some thais are dark cuz there part khmer. Why do you think laos people are so light, because there was no interbreed. You guys are still pure chinese.

  • i agree with u eventhough Im thai and has some lao

thats what i read in the history book

  • u guys can see that thai monks use our alphabet..they can't make their owns alphabet..if they make their owns..i swear that wont work..b/c i already asked thai monks when i went to take my visa in thailand..i was freak out that time..i wanted to say something bad to him but he was a monk ( thailand )..i don't want to go to hell, man

  • but its a good thing.. its like having 3 different nationality with the same Culture.. so khmer isnt alone!!!

  • thai and laos jus copy khmer ppl, even the writings!!

  • thai modified writing from MON SCRIPT! well close to khmer

  • Muay thai is 100% khmer origine

  • Though Thai try to imitate Khmer Traditional dance, we still see that Khmer tranditional dance still softer than Thai. It is easy to recognize which one from Thai and which one from Khmer.

  • Thai tranditional dance originally come from Cambodia. You can cheek history.

  • look at their hands and feets moving... so charming!

  • People don't realize it, but Thai and Lao dances all originated from Cambodia. The apsara crowns, the outfits, the hand movements.... people usually think of Thailand when they see dances like this.... but it all actually came from Cambodia. We don't give them enough credit.

  • Muay Thai, (thai boxing) also originated from cambodia

  • I still say there are some influences (dance, food, language) from India and such. I mean I am Vietnamese and agree that the Chams from central Vietnam probably introduced the curry dishes. ANd maybe the Chams got the curry from Cambodians and Thai's. However, where did the Thai's get the curries from?

  • The dancing came to the khmers via the south Indians, then to everybody else in that area one way or another. Same influence but obviously different in some ways. And curry came from India.

  • so its all the same thing? laos and thai and cambodian same type of dance?

  • no it's not the same thing. Of the said countries, thailand never had any serious involvment in war. Living in the age of communication via the internet and globalization, thailand had time and money to heavily capitolize on apsara and make it their icon. NOt to credit only cambodians for the modern apsara, but in the old days before thai's kidnapped the apsara dancers from Angkor wat, the woman were barechested, and looked similar to the bas reliefs.

  • paradise*

  • I have been watching alot of thai, and cambodian dances, and I have been studying how they move thier hands. I tried my hands are slowly getting used to it, but now my finger hurt.

  • soak you hands in water while stretching them back and easing your joints to curve upwards

  • I never would have thought of that.

    thxs!

  • I went to Cambodia 10 years ago.Paradice dance is interesting for me.I miss it.

  • very pretty

  • ahaha:D tite!! my boyfriend use to do that too!! lol.. i always wanted to see how a cambodian dance looks like!! turned out that lao, thia, and cambodia dances are similar.. hmongs dances.. no.. its nothing like that! lol.. but kewls.. their dresses are really similar too!

  • HEY that first woman is my mom no joke i do the cambodian dance check out our temple at http:/cambodian-buddhist.org

but now i play music there

  • khmer dancer are so beautiful wen they dress like that

  • I just curious...a lot of southeast asian
