  • In my collection of Lugers I have one chrome plated. I also have the capture paperwork on it and the vet I purchased it from told me many of the troops did have them chrome plated as war trophies. They didn't care about resale value or keeping them original at the time. A chrome or nickel plated one has little value other then a shooter unless you have the provenance to go along with the weapon.

  • they need to start making these again...

  • i always thought chrome looked better on guns then gold

  • can they be bought on the modern market and are they still produced ?

  • @zeke1312

hard to know what connotation people have over the internet.. no harm no foul

  • It is worthless refinished, damn what a shame. What a SHAME, I want to cry......

  • There is 2 at my local gun shop one has a long barrel but its 2000 dollars

  • beautiful handgun

  • " German stuff"

  • is it for sale

  • We burried a WW2 veteran with 2 silver stars. He had and told me one of his lugers he brought back was chromed and the German colonel who surrendered it to him assured him he had never fired it.He was educated in USA told Walt Azar that Hitler liked parades and that is why that one was chromed. Also P38's chromed were given to sargents who distinguished themselves on the Russian front all who held them were killed. Not all lugers were blue according to SMG Azar.

  • Blood does have salt so it will destroy the blue on the metal . If it was from a real veteran who took it off a german soldier he would have it chromed like it was because at that time around after the war there were hundreds of thousands of these were coming back to the U.S. as war trophies and did not know the value of them 60 plus years later. This combat veteran who ever had it wanted to preserve the memory as it was probably an 18 year old Infantry Soldier who had captured it.

  • @reddevilparatrooper

    exactly.. people don't think

  • @GunWebsites I'm extremely envious!

  • Collector value be damned, that thing looks BITCHIN' in bright nickle.

  • Should have cleaned it with Coca Cola, Coke is an EXCELLENT blood cleaner! U should try it!

  • I woulda kept the blood on it. It probably add to the value.

  • are there companies that make reproduction lugers? the old ones are pricy.

  • who much was it

  • okay ya it does make it look nice but wow i have a couple lugers myself but i would never nickle plate it no keep them orginal i mean this is one of the best hand guns ever built i mean when u pick this gun up it fits perfictly and its perfictly balenced

  • @jrwilson3232 Which models or years lugers to buy? Which are more collectible? Thanks!

  • @Nikateer

If you have to ask you can't afford it

  • @TheJomogogo My budget right now is $6k-8k for a nice rare one. I'm not uinterested in something that's common.

  • @Nikateer

    Oh...then you can afford one.

  • @jrwilson3232 I know your right, my Luger is a 1942 Mauser and as worn as the blueing is on it, I was told to keep it in it's original condition because reblueing it would take away the value of it.

  • okay if a us soldier got that off a german in ww2 like u say he would have never have it nickle platet i mean that is just retarded

  • Yes, it is ruined and S 42 means it was made in 1942 and it was made by Mauser in Oberndorf ...

  • Where did you get it?

  • it never shouldev been nickle platted. but if it was a war trophy i can forgive the guy who did it. when it was done it was exactly as collectable as it is today. think of it as if somebody did that to a more modern fire arm today.

  • my favorite handgun of all time

  • @johnnyCham12

no, blood destroys the finish on metal

  • @GunWebsites i mean asap wipe it

  • @deathwing98

Well I was not there with him in WWII.. so I can only assume it wasn't a situation where he could wipe off the guys pistol..

  • @GunWebsites thats good to know

  • @GunWebsites Does blood really destroy the metal?

  • @mcrfuse

the finish on the metal, yes..

the metal? eventually it would I guess

  • @mcrfuse Yes!

  • @1339LARS How? Does water destroy it too??

  • @mcrfuse Water is the main ingredient to create corrosion (rust) and especially salt water, blood also contains salt, but blood is not that corrosive!!

  • My friend has a world war 2 nazi luger officer pistol with the ss and lighting bolt symbol on the grip and he is thinking about selling it. can anybody tell me what it might be worth?

  • can i get a disarmed luger or a replica anywhere?... where im living guns are not allowed

  • ahhh this was a great trophy for any soldier. any soldier caught carrying a Luger captured by the germans were shot at the spot.

  • my grandfather brought 1 back from from the lower Rhine river, its a shame he wont even let look at it even though im 20

  • american soldiers who stayed behind after the war paid german craftsman to plate it fairly common most guns to be plated were P 38's plating it takes away from the value if it was plated at the factory there would be a tinge from age that luger was flash plated , not a high quality plating

  • Any collector value was destroyed with the nickle plating, but it does look nice and is very unusual for a P08.

  • cool thats what I thought but my buddy wondered

  • were did you get it

  • they US soldier pulled it from a dead nazi in WWII

  • @GunWebsites it reason like this that i collect... in that since i am a bad collector because i love finding out the history of the rifle/pistol... i got a original 1942 dated P-38 from my pa a few years back and wanted to find out more... so i went to the person who gave it to him and he said he obtained it when a german officer was captured... this makes the gun mean so much more to me... now i want to find the german it belonged to...

  • @GunWebsites one thing borders me. How do u know he was a nazi? U know all soldiers wasent bad Nazis they were people defending ther family and contry.

  • oh sweet

  • is it real

  • yes

  • wuts the price on those

  • not sure

  • ~1200€ in Germany for a real WW2 Luger

  • is that a nickel or stainless luger?

  • nickel plated

  • @aznb0ii85 DOOH, there were no stainless P08.s during the war!!

  • nice gun man its so awsome looking

  • Nice to see one thats been nickel plated, not everyones cup of tea,but i like it.Does it have Waffenampt markings on it?the eagle with the swastika in its grasp? If so that would show it was manufactured during the Nazi period, guns before and after do not have these markings.I like the longer barelled "artillery" version too.Very rare, some idiots in the uk have these guns deactivated, all welded up inside, destroying a piece of history forever

  • This was pre-nazi I think.. 1935

but I am not a nazi expert

  • Nazi era was '33 onwards in Germany,as for Waffenampt markings I'm not sure.

  • That has to be the most beautiful Luger I've ever seen. Outstanding!

  • shot it?

  • nope, not ours to shoot

  • damn, that sucks

  • A really nice piece of gun there, Just for the record, Most soldiers did not have lugers, Mostly officers only type of gun. Nice video, keep it up

  • good point

  • personally, all we need are glocks and ar-15 with the .223 round and 40 cal. america is set after

  • ok well, than what?

we can't own collectibles, hunting guns, and guns to just have fun with?

I understand what you are saying, but leave room for other people who have other interests

  • nothin to do with this vid really but is S&W really some of the best hand guns?

  • Lugar is a great gun for it's time, precision engr. workth allot of money today for those, don't like nickel plate, but great gun thanks.

  • WOW thats a nice luger

  • that stuff doesnt look to me as an original Luger. someone blew your wallet.

  • you can think what you want.. I guess after watching a 2 minute and 14 second video of it.. you are the expert

  • wow.. you still think you know it all..

since you already know everything, no need to waste your time here

  • if you want to buy an original Luger, try the Spanish gun shops: the germans swamped this country with luger pistols in the late 30's. Prices are around 500-700 Euros. A chicom copy will cost 80-100 Euros. You have a problem exchanging ideas and knowledge. You take it personally. Bad for you.

  • no I have a problem with abusive bullys who attempt to piss on my videos..

I encourage and contribute to worthwhile feedback on an almost daily basis..

You started it, your original post "someone blew your wallet." was RUDE

I have the right to reply to you on my own video.. you don't see me bothering you on your channel / vids

  • just my opinion, no ill intentions.

    cheers!

  • fair enough, thanks

  • meh, i prefer American guns.

  • I like any guns and I think that some german made guns are better the american but thats my opinion.

  • meh not during ww2 but after that, they made great guns, g3, g36, mp5, mp7 etc.

  • mg42?

  • if it was popular in the 50s that must be why my model 12 has some stuff nickel plated

  • Nickel plating was very popular in the 50s. Anyway, great video and thanks for sharing this very nice Luger.

  • There was blood on it so he had it nickel plated? I think he would have put water on it, not nickel plating.

Read John Walter's book on Lugers for the best info.

  • really really dry (59 year old blood stain) blood?

  • he nickel plated it during WWII from what I heard..

and it was also to commemorate the fact that the nazi didn't walk away from that encounter with his 1911

  • Awesome

  • awesome but the nickel-plated finish aint that right for this kinda of pistol

  • WOW......look at that...way cool...yes im feeling better

  • As a Luger collector it hurts to see a pistol like that being nickle plated and destroyed ;-(

  • I thought that too... at first

But after hearing the story of why it is like it is today.. I can't fault the guy who did it

  • @magnus308 why it looks cool

  • @magnus308 or you can see it as a one of kind luger with a interesting story behind it, it would be boring to collect lugers that are all the same

  • @magnus308 plating it also hurts the function because the gun has to be sanded then plated with soft metal don't shoot it too much or it will start to rattle

  • @magnus308 it wouldnt destory it if not save itbecouse of blood but i agree it would be better if it was oregnale

  • How many rounds does this luger hold?

  • it looks like a alien gun if you cock it and leave it in that pos.

  • yes, super nice hand gun! the nice german people made great guns 4 sure! what other bullets do they take?like i thought someone said 7.62 something? o-well, thanks!

  • they are 9mm

7.62 is in a tokarev (sp?) which is a russian/romanian pistol

  • nice luger!!!

  • Beautiful pistol and a piece of German gun history - the owner should be very proud!

  • according to the story I was told he took it from the dead nazi who wanted to just give him the bullets..

I think he was proud as could be!!

  • A nickle plated S/42. Yes, that is indeed an exepcive firearm, lol. I bet it would go at auction for a pritty penny.

  • everyone <3 lugers

  • You got to love the look of the Luger. I really hope to add one to my collection in the future.

  • they're really interesting guns... i got the chance to hold one at a gun show and the controls seemed so different compared to any other pistol.

  • nice!
