You Americans are lucky man :( I feel like crying right now !! We don't get anything like this in England. I don't care what people say about me but I wanted to be an American for 4 years and I still from this day want to be an american. And plus I'm only 16. I wanna be an American so bad my user name says "americangirl" but I'm actually a miserable young british girl. Mark my words when I get rich (hopefully) and get a well paid job that I love doing I'm heading straight to the USA (maybe new
@americangirl14x aww that is strangely very sad. Just realize that America is much larger than England and not everywhere is like New York city. I went to Ireland once but not England. I imagine it to be a beautiful island though. Most of the your culture is bland and homogenous, but I imagine London isn't like this. (and you have the Beatles, which is something we'll never have)
@screamphilling Britain is one of the most boring places in the world trust me, and London is a shit hole. (The Beatles music is for everyone to hear not just us)
@americangirl14x I'm french (18yo) and i too wanna be american. There's actually nothing more important in my life and its my main goal to live there. Dunno why but I could never imagine staying in Europe for the rest of my life. Although I still don't know how I'm gonna achieve this cause I'm not really planning to study and It's very hard to get a "normal" (which doesnt require any diplomas) job over there.
Anyways I'm planning to go to NYC this summer and live a part of my dream <3
@americangirl14x I know how you feel!!! Been there 17 times it's amazing and never gets old!!! My uncle lives there too :(!!! But we do have the beatles!!!
@americangirl14x Don't worry, the Shard London Bridge is being built in London. It will open in 2012 and has an observation deck on the 77 floor (855 feet tall).
@americangirl14x you see New York and L.A and you assume that to be that face of america witch yes it is but there is a whole lot of band boring grey stuff in the middle and trust me id rather go back to London i lie in a mass suburb called long island that is rite west of NYC and lemme tell you i feel like i am living in an advert literally i live in a pit of blind mass consumption and i have come to realize this is the american dream and i don't like it
I'm from this little town in countryside part of Brazil where buildings higher than 10 floors are a distant dream. When I was in NY last November and went up to the 86th floor observatory of this building, I was shocked! One of the greatest experiences of my life, given the place where I live LOL . I didn't get to the 102nd though, too bad. Maybe this year.
awww i went there before with my dad but only up to level 86. i miss the world trade center please bring it back now. i wish an elevator ride in the world trade center was done :(
When was this? It almost looked like one of the world trade center towers were there around the time you got off the elevator and looked out the window.
i went to nyc last october with my wife and family even tho im scared of heights we went up anyways it was at night the view is beautiful i almost had a panick atack when i saw these kids sticking their heads out trhough the fence
The shaft walls were exposed red brick the last time I ride that elevator. The arches were where there were welded-shut doors with 12" portholes, which was how you got the view.
@qball86 I didnt make this video but i've been there and you were in the observation level in floor 86, which is outdoors, but if you pay like $30 more, you get to go 16 floors higher to yet, another observation room, up to where the antenna is, but its enclosed, only with windows, you can't go outside, which is where this video took place...hope i could help :)
no actuley back when the building was first being built their wes ment to be a blimp sky landing port and those steel potrugens were actuley the ancirs that the blimps steel cables would tie on to so the blimp landing port was redey and all was fine untill they actuley tried to land a blimp on the port the they could not fit it because the enginers did not take in to account the wind so the blimp was beeing blowen in evrey witch way so they abbandend it and they made the landing port a
complete and utter shit, they're radio antenna, i was there a month ago, and you can make out a manufacturing plate on them, giving the frequency of the antenna.
@d153950 Wrong!- These are the old master antenna system that was built in the late 1960s and used by a number of New York FM radio stations. For years the 102nd-floor observation deck was closed when there became concern about the public being too close to the RF radiation from these antennas so a new master-FM-antenna system was built up above.
@nakayle STILL has nothing to do with what i just seaid the metel anchors on the outside of the sealed door where i am talking about were in use for a short time in the early 1900s then people were convinced that the lighter than aircraft would become a prime form of transportation then after the Hindenburg disaster the entire idea was abandoned and the zeplin deemed rubbish
@d153950 i am in total agreement that later on the antennas were put into major broadcasting use its true but the 102nd floor has been there way before the 60s and in that time was an air landing port to quickly access midtown manhatton without landing and fyi the 102nd floor is not closed to the public it is still in use today as a observation deck its just insane expensive to go up
@d153950 the radio components are in the unofficial 104th floor which is sealed behind a lead door....don't question my credibility i am from new york
@d153950 the 102nd floor deck is open now because these antennas are no longer used but there was a period of several years in the 1990s when the deck was off limit to the public because of new regulations about RF exposure limits to the public.
maybe, you didnt go up the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building, u only went up the 86th floor which took 2 elevator rides, instead of 3 for the 102nd floor.

The USA has a lot going for it, but has a lot of problems as well.
I live in Texas, and although it is indeed a wide open place, it has its issues.
In Texas, you observe the laws, or else! the police WILL beat your arse!
Guns are the norm, and they still beat homos and hippies.
The Redneck mentality? watch Family Guy, yes, they really are that stupid, they blew up an oil rig, remember? collective rednecking at its finest.
So, although the UK may have issues, they do not have rednecks!!!
