I studied global warming after I graduated from collage in 1977 with a degree in engineering...I wrote an article that same year on the facts of global warming and on how humans were a major contributor to it. If one is really intelligent and knows how to research something to come upon the truth, global warming, and mankind's contribution to it, is as simple as 2+2=4. Temperatures vary but the trend overall shows that they are increasing. How can warming cause CO2? that's nonsense, it's actually the other way round. The Earth climate history is as old as the Earth itself. The people who study it are called paleoclimatologists.

Close your mouth and pick up a history book. the earth has steadily gotten warmer since the last ice age. There are methane plumes that come out of the ocean that release more gas into the atmosphere then we can compute. Every time a volcano erupts the air is polluted with more green house gasses then we can produce in a year. And global warming is a GOOD thing, because it's what melted the freeze that we call the last ice age, which allowed us to truly prosper as a species.

@arneperschel In climategate, 'climate scientists' were found to be conspiring to destroy data that was subject to FOIA requests. Also, they were using models to 'prove' gorebull worming. Models can show whatever their designers want. I could make a model 'proving' that Vanuatu will be destroyed in an epic battle between Mothra and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. That doesn't mean that that will happen.

The hockey stick was generated using statistical analysis methods that would create a hockey stick from any data set entered. And I mean 1999, as that is when the current cooling trend started.
Also, carbon dioxide is an essential gas to all life on earth, and those who want to restrict it have ill intentions for humanity in general.

Also, please note that the real cause for concern among climate scientists and the base of their understanding of current and future climate is PAST climate. It's a whole branch of science called paleoclimatology. What it teaches us is that in past times with only slightly higher temperatures, sea level was several meters higher. So far, none of the models has been able to predict the rapid sea level rise KNOWN from the past because they are biased to give CAUTIOUS outcomes.
