I'm not afraid of crashing, just the horrible, tear-inducing pain that shoots through my ears whenever I fly or go to the mountains. It takes days to get rid of.
@phoenixphire4ever its called "ear pop" its your eardrums. put your hand on your nose, close your mouth and breath out real hard, HAS YOUR EARDRUM POPPED? its like yawning when everything gets louder, your eardrums pop!
People ain't scared of flying, they are scared of crashing. you have to control your imagination and get real. sure, you have to face your mortality but yu have to do that everyday. no one i know is scared of taking a walk in the park but thats more likely to get you killed than an aeroplane, but you've dismissed that fear cos it aint likely. the chances of dying in a plane are a million times less likely than that, so go ahead and dismiss that too. go see the world folks.
People talk a lot of crap about flying. Its really simple. You don't have to worry about the engines failing, a plane can glide without em, plus, its a jet engine and not an automobile. as long as its got gas, it'll keep going. Okay, you're 35.000 feet up in the air, but you won't ever fall from that height...EVER, you will glide safely to the ground. Its your imagination that you're scared of. gettin on the bus or in your car is far more likely to kill ya than an aeroplane.
@hanovagia and another thing, planes are actually DESIGNED to fly. people say it aint natural. It is! take a look outside at the birds, they use the exact same principle to get airborne: lift and thrust, you don't see them shakin their heads on the tarmac saying "uh uh, no way...I aint goin up there." and the engines of a plane only move it forward, they don't use them to stay up. The only reason television reports on crashes is because they are so incredibly rare.
how can a glass of water help with turbulence,if its a sudden or real hard one,you get more scared ,i don't see that?for me it helps a lot to look at the wings, since I saw that video off a wing test
well its more for the sense of looking at water. since water is something that keeps us alive, it can really calm you down. I have agoreiphobia(sp?) and i will not travel anywhere without a good amount of water in my car. so i think thats what the water is for.
Exactly like me.I used to like flying.Ok,not like, but jus't don't care to do it.Now,flying scares the hell out of me,which makes me really angry since I love to travel.I've had really bad experiences, tough. Oh,btw,I'm flying in two days time to Paris!Shit,11hrs on a plane!
i am such a freak when it comes to flying.i tried once and i have not overcome it.i am flying again in a month's time so pls..anyone out there who can suggest the best way to overcome my fear...i pray hard too.
Pilots go through thousands of training hours before they become airline pilots. They kow excactly what they're doing. The aircraft is like their 3rd arm. The crashes you see with planes are extremely rare, so rare you could fly a billion times and only experience a few bumpy landings ;) Even if a plane loses all its engines, the pilots can safely fly it down as a glider to the nearest airport. Happy flying!
Also, learn to trust that God ha a time for you. If you aint destined to die up there, you need not worry. If you will, then make sure you have trusted Christ as your Savior and I will see you in Heaven! Think about it. what difference will freaking out do? If you are overtaken by fear, stone yourself with some sleeping pills before take off, and it's settled. Or drive...
Well, flying is scary mainly because we do not understand it. Why does it "bump," swing, fall, rise, or make weird noises. I flew back from Honduras on Jan 2, 08, and this time I was nervous. I have flown a lot in my life, more than 20 times, and rarely do I get as nervous as this time. TIP: Get enough sleep before a flight. If you are too tired, your body will be extra sensitive and you'll feel every movement exponentially!
I'm a freaking COP! I have been shot at 2 times and been in many dangerous situatuations and fight and for the most part was more excited then fearfull (altho fear keeps you safe)...But I CAN NOT get over the fact that I am affraid of flying, I dont know what it is, I thinks it's the fact that I dont understand how it works and im not in control. I should also stop watching those plane crashes on youtube...Im flying to europe in 16 days and I need to get liquered up real good. :)
I am so glad that there are people in the world that feel the same way as me. Its crazy, but the more I seem to fly, the more I get scared. I get so amazed when I see someone carelessly sleeping their way through out the trip. I think maxpower1912 is right, I should just get drunk or get sleeping pills. I am flying to the Dominican soon and flying is the only thing that I am worried about. Any one have any more suggestions for me?
Simply driving and avoiding aircraft is the only way to not have a grade A mental breakdown. Explain the process of wings generating lift, the rarity of engine failure, etc all you want... there's no getting past the point of 35,000 feet of air between me and the ground during the average flight.
Thanks for Uploading. I am flying to Disney on the 17th of November. I have float A LOT in my life. But recently, I have been devolping a fear for just about everything. This helps a lot. I love having a tray in front of you and I love when you fly low-ish and you can see the cars from above.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do we love the "feeling of turbulence" when travelling in the air? What makes so fun?
For me, I enjoy some turbulence during air travel, but I do not know why.
(3) Why do we feel more excited when we eat and drink in turbulence?
(4) What is you favourite food and drinks in a turbulence flight?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) What do we love air travel?
(3) Why do we feel that meals on aeroplanes are so interesting and special?
(4) What is the fun and enjoyment to dinning at 42000 feets high?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
