I once read a story where a daschund fell off his owners sailboat a couple hundred miles out to sea and the dog swam back to shore and was later found and returned to it's owner.

Daschund are incredible dogs. I used to have one and we treated him like our son. Sadly he died in the same spot this nice dog is playing with the water @ Las Terrenas, near Portillo, he got intoxicated with rat poison and we could not do anything about it. He had previously gotten intoxicated in Santo Domingo also, but that time we were able to attend him properly. We gave him a proper burial at the beach and over 10 gorwn people cried him like babies....

That is a Sad Story about your dog, ours is like a son too, and I know how painful can be to lose your dog, my sympathies

we had 2 dashounds one male who also hates water but this might be surprising the female that we had who died of parvo loved to swim in the pool. we go swimming she be right there with use, we throwed the ball in the pool she go rigth after it. lol i am not kidding

well this might be surprising we have 2 minny dashounds and the male hates water he wont go in the pool but lol....... the female that we had but she died of parvo jumped and played in the pool. she loved the pool. we go swimming and she jumped right in after her toy lol. i am not kidding i have movies but not on here.

Mine used to hate water until I got a life jacket by Outward Hound. She loves swimming now! You should all try it because it keep their heads above the water and makes it easier for them to swim and stay afloat!
