  • A girl named Caity once used my love by quoting Wilco and making me think we had this connection. She used to make me think that Jeff Tweedy wrote these songs about us. We would talk in Wilco lyrics all the time, sharing our feelings.

This is one of the only songs she never quoted. I never did coz i knew to hide it. To save it. She destroyed "I am trying to break your heart" and "On and On and On".

    I still will have this.

I live as proof that men can have their hearts broken.

  • @CicconeYouth04 I know what you mean, man. It sucks when they do that.

  • It's not really an interpretation. I'm not interpreting him, just quoting and paraphrasing him I suppose

  • I honestly thought I'd never find a band as good imo as Nine Inch Nails. This is stirring me.

  • The song that made me fall in love with Wilco.

    Painfully good, seriously!

  • I really like this group. they are not typical but come off as approachable and that's a good thing. Wilco know's how the deliver to the deeppest parts of the human condition a beatiful dark imitation of life.

  • absolutely brilliant

  • god fuck this is brilliant

  • @GhostLate couldn't agree more

  • lyrically astounding with a mesmerisng performance

    can only be wilco

  • sweet...

  • this was the first song that got me interested in wilco. theres just something about it. and its still my favorite wilco song. :)

  • love how this is so understated, compared to the album version. im new to wilco, and this song is my favourite song so far. its inspiring to listen to.

  • great album, one good song better the other..

  • This has to be one of the saddest and most transparent songs of all times. It just gets me every time. Jeff sounds so much like Jerry Garcia and i don't even like the Dead. Has to be one of my top ten songs of all time. He had to have written this when he was at his absolute worst with drug addiction.

  • mesmorizing and haunting, Jeff and band capture such depth that it is hard not to listen to this and weep...

my mind is filled with silery stars...

  • "Picking apples for the kings and queens of things I've never seen"

  • Kurt Vonnegut described the combined effect of artists across all disciplines to bring about the end of the Vietnam war through their work as that of "dropping a flan from a step ladder". This led him to conclude that the new function of art is let you know you are not alone. Wilco works for me...

  • @MrBrianojee hit the G spot. furshizzle.

  • @MrBrianojee Amazing how you could interpret Vonnegut that way, let alone in any way.

  • The Bad Plus cover of this is epic as well.

  • Bravo!!!

  • Tweedy reminds me Johnny Cash

  • @dabi182 Me too!

  • Una de las mejores canciones de la década, uno de los mejores grupos de la década, uno de los mejores discos de la historia.

  • how can anyone not love the last minute or so of this song ??

  • Does anyone know the chords for this version? Same as the album?

  • @Blondejack2003

    Verse - D A E D

    Pre-Chorus (end of verse / picking apples) - A A/G F# G D/F# A G F#

    Chorus (distance has no way) - F# Ebm Bbm B D F#

    Break - E D

    then back into verse

  • @MidimanMidi Thank you!

  • Mesmerizing. Beautiful.

  • all of them are so unbelievably talented, such an amazing band

  • When is he going to be on American Idol? He needs a big break!

  • i love you, jeff

  • an absoulte gem of a song

  • great song

  • excellent song

  • YES!!

  • Wilco are the most under rated band in the world! Fantastic and fantastic tunes!

  • yeah, because no one thinks wilco are amazing. def underrated

  • I love this track

  • this is awesome

  • can't wait to see them live.

  • Oh, distance has no way...

  • ... electronic surgical words ...

  • my mind is filled with silvery stars

  • GRANDE SOM...GRANDE WILCO

  • :O skins episode 9! aww memories! Great song

  • you boring, idio t

  • grow up honey, i hope you can.

  • PERFECT

    jeff really feels the song

  • Whoever was holding the camera to Tweedy's left side was doing genius work. Everything about those shots works so incredibly well.

  • Wilco - The only other band that mattered.

  • love this one...best wilco song imo. ISnt the song in some alternate tuning tho?

  • i wished it'd show him play his guitar more. chords anyone?

  • starts on E

verse is basically just D A and E, but not always in that order...

turnaround at end of verse is:

    A A/G F# G

    pre-chrous (picking apples...)

    D D/C# A G F# G

    chorus (distance has no way...)

    F# F#/F D#m A# B D F#

    etc...

  • great. thanks erik.

  • i love this so much. but i feel like i've heard it before, except faster. does anyone know what i'm talking about?

  • I love the synth effect that comes in at 2:29 its so tasteful.

  • kind of sounds like the synths they used in old school hip-hop.

  • understandable

  • My mind is filled with radio cures---

    Electronic surgical words.

  • beautiful <3

  • so awesome!! (: i love it!

  • Theres something about Tweedy that reminds me of Johnny Cash in this video

  • I was thinking the same thing!

  • Fantastic song. Just a fanfuckingtastic band.

  • my favorite wilco song, for sure.

    tweedy.

  • this is pretty much as good as it gets

  • This song is so good. The version on Kicking Television is amazing!

  • this song is a very simple and very perfect piece of music.

  • I can't say for certain that "Radio Cure" is

my FAVOURITE Wilco song...but it damn sure is

my FAVOURITE from Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

And I don't get the people that say the

beginning is boring...to me, it is dark

and moody and immediately pulls me into

    the song's web...I'm hypnotized.

  • I KNOW JEFF TWEEDY!!!! HIS TWO SONS GO TO MY SCHOOL!!!! I'm really good friends with his oldest son.

  • oh. my. god. dude, i am so jealous!!!! my friend told me she knew someone who was dating his son but it was complete bullshit.

MAN you are LUCKY! i. wish. i. knew. jeff. tweedy.

  • Oh I know the girl that's going out with his son too. She's a total bitch though. I know I thought he would have good taste in girls but I guess now. But he's pretty cool. But he can be kind of well, conceited sometimes.

  • are you serious? that's awesome if it's true. he seems like a really down to earth guy

  • How could you call this a filler it's such an amazing song. and sad.

  • i agree, the 1st half is nice, but the 2nd half makes it amazing, especially live

  • "Our distance has no way of making love understandable"

This song hits so close to home for me on many levels. Mainly because there IS something wrong with me! ;-P

  • i saw jeff do a solo show in california and it was incredible.

  • I'm so gay for Jeff sometimes.

  • aren;t we all, babe?

  • the national-maybe they havent put out an album yet that blew me away but theyre ok

shins- im a fan but they're nowhere near the level of wilco radiohead or arcade fire

  • I LOVE RADIOHEAD AND ARCADE FIRE!!!! But I still think that Wilco is pretty cool.

  • GREAT SONG! I love the Live version soooooooooo much better than the one on the track

  • wilco, radiohead and arcade fire...

  • and spoon and the shins and the national

  • love this

  • Wilco Radiohead and Arcade Fire are the 3 most important bands right now

  • You are right! Arcade Fire, Wilco and Radiohead (in the third place)

  • exactly that order is perfect But its still very close. Comparing the bands that released Funeral/Neon Bible, Ok Computer/The Bends, and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot/A Ghost is born is nearly impossible

  • @ quiquebuey: I wholeheartedly agree with that. Also Blitzen Trapper and The Decemberists should be considered as 4 and 5. Bands like these are the reason I still have hope that music isn't dead.

  • man, i agree, but i have to mention Spoon in there as well.

  • yeah I've herd they're good. Where to Start? I haven't herd anything on GaGaGaGaGaGa or w/e they're new cd was,but ya im interested

  • oh, distance has no way of making love understandable

  • Long distance has a way of making love understandable

  • makes more sense to me then the lyrics

  • amazing!

  • la mejor banda yanqui del momento

  • Did you say "My favorite American band right now?"

  • i said: " the best american band right now"

  • Cool, cool - I recognized yanqui (because of Banditos Yanquis in "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid") so I thought I'd take a stab. Is yanqui informal? Is it derogatory?

  • its informal, generally, I didn't want to say it in a derogatory way.

  • No, I didn't take it that way - I mean, you dig Wilco, obviously - I was just curious if it's usually derogatory.

  • Wilco blows me away ever time

    is chewing gum while singing?

  • Fucking amazing.

  • Wilco raises the state of the art of music. The record industry is failing, radio stations are running scared and it is because the industry has forgotten how to promote true artists like Wilco.

  • wow.

    wow.

  • Wilco, you fuckin great bunch of people.Your songs poisoned my mind.

  • Thanks for the post. I think it's one of his better songs.

  • "distance has no way of making love". that's a true statement, and it never fails.

  • this has a radiohead feel to it.

  • This documentary is so good.

  • jeff tweedy looks a bit like a mischievous altar boy as he sings this.

ah, distance has no way of making love understandable. BEST WILCO SONG!

  • he looks like johnny cash in this clip

  • Hahaha. I think that infamous Cash picture makes anyone holding an acoustic guitar like that looks like him.

  • brilliant man ...

  • oh damn i did not know this was about jeff withdrawling from oxy

  • Does anyone know exactly what 'Picking apples with kings and queens of things I've never seen' means? Awesome sounding line, but srsly. wtf?

  • It's "for" not "with". Working or slaving for others with no benefit to yourself would be my guess.

  • It means being oblivious to the importance people have in other spheres of life, not just doing the mundane thing you're doing (ie. riding an elevator, picking an apple.)

  • My favorite Wilco song, that I never listened to for the longest time because it starts off so dismal and boring.

  • very exciting song, slow and glorius tune

  • best song about oxy withdrawel to date!

  • What the heck is oxy withdrawel?

  • love it!

  • this song rocks....Wilco is pretty amazing

  • I have to listen to this song in its entirety everytime. It is musical perfection.

  • Sweet Song!!!

  • One of the best Wilco songs. Absolutely amazing.
