  • no way!

  • epicaly awsome.END.

  • Amazing, though I image that it gives a huge strain on the motors when lifting the weight. Do I see correctly that you have some sort of laser guide to support the robot? When you zoom in on the robot at about 0:48, there's a long red line visible on the ground.

  • @DrywFiltiarn When we ran this contest no one broke a motor that I heard of. But some broke a few gears, twisted axles and bent beams did happen. I am not sure about the "Lazer guided line"? I hope Dad & Adam can input on this detail. It appears that only one motor drives the bot so I do not think it can steer? I posted this for them as they sent it to me for posting. He is a member at mindboards as well. Hope he can shed some lazer light on this for us :)

  • @222Doc I had a messgae from them today and to the question on the Lazer and such, ""The laser line was not used for tracking. It was used to line things up before starting. I forgot to turn it off.

No tracks of any kind. Yes, the rubber walked right off the rims if the tires were kept on. -Plus the tires added extra weight.

One motor for moving and one motor for lifting. No stearing.""

  • Is it running on tracks? I think it needs to be, since most rubber tires will be crushed and thus generate too much friction. Or are those the rimes of oldstyle wheels?

Love the lifting principle by the way, looks simple and really effective.

  • @TheLexhoya This was built by a friend and his son. No tracks But it looks like some kind of lazer line may be used? Yes rubber wheels will be crushed, we all tried them and even under half this weight the rubber would "walk off the rim" I think everyone went with rubberless rims for this in the end. This was the winning entry but we had one contestant that lifted and moved over 100lbs! though the bot was slower and much heavier. rules were, weight of bot into weight carried by time.
