  • A friend on Facebook just posted this and I had to click on and listen, as well as do so research. Gosh I listened to this on the AM Radio Stations when I was a kid. Don't you wish you could go back to those days of not worrying about where your next meal was coming from, we rode our bikes behind the fogger machines and thought it was cool, we played outside all day without worring about someone lurking around the corner. I was in Wyoming growing up, weekend camping, fishing, hunting, miss it

  • @snideline442 WOW! I was a kid in So Cal when this came out and you just pretty much described how life was then for me too.Lived in a small town, about 40 mile inland from the coastline. Now,I live in Wyoming! Raised my kids here.Worked the oil fields. Pretty wierd huh? LOL!

  • Nice!

  • I've loved this song since I was a child.

  • this is the new version right?

  • "Crystal Blue Persuasion is a transcendent song... (it's)about more than a specific religious view... (it's)about "peace and good and brotherhood" It is simultaneously a plea and a message of hope... "the sun is rising... people are changing... a new vibration... maybe tomorrow" I am certain that the message is about how we should be treating other members of the human family and that it is a message of hope". ...well said, LIghtraylove..honored to give you the first .."thumbs up"

  • (could spiritual reality become the truth?)....or at least let a few people see the blueprints of a new heaven and earth and some actual woman?..a few children I saw and "I" am easily convinced!

  • @foxyroxstar ahhhh lovely thought albeit a bit cryptic... and my answer is yes and yes and yes i think. ~namaste~

  • @lightraylove Namaste 2u2

  • This song reminds of a wonderful vacation to Hawaii in 1969 to visit my boyfriend who was in the Air Force at the time. So romantic....what a beautiful memory. Love this version of the song better than the commercial one. More soulful.

  • ... A 2 G ...

  • MrTejano, thanks my friend that was many years ago but this song makes it seem like yesterday. Peace

  • @8moody1 ,So , so True !

  • Mellow...deep...amazing. Beautiful message of the love for mankind.

    michael

  • It was L.S.D.

  • I think this is one of the greatest songs. People really need to listen and heed the words they will find truth. Look inside themselves.

  • 1969 the year of "FREE LOVE"

  • s,09 ןnɟıʇɐǝq 'buos sıɥʇ ǝʌoן ı

  • Saw Tommy James at Rockin the Rivers in 2010 in Montana. Got to go back stage and get a few autographs. He is a very nice guy, and spent about half hour talking to my wife and I. I am not a groupy kind of guy, but I know the folks that own RTR and I was doing my sister a favor. Glad I did.

  • Scott Ross: "…and another one of your songs, “Crystal Blue Persuasion.”"

Tommy James: Yeah, that was about becoming a Christian. People say, "Is that

about drugs?" I say, “No, it was about Jesus.”

  • Back in the day this song was played a thousand times a day on the radio. It still sounds good

  • I was maybe 6 yrs old when I listened to my brothers & sisters music and this song is on that is quite memorable.

  • all the old songs are comming back I take it you was born much later lol I have one or two for you to hear thanks and God Bless you too

  • This song has been the greatest. It takes me back to those wonderful years that are forever gone except when you hear a song like this. Tommy James has always been my number one artist. This song says so much. I talked to him about this song as well as Sweet Cherry Wine. God plays a big part in his life. Some of his music speaks of love, life and faith. Love you always.

  • @sharfrench Those years are never gone when you listen to music like this. Brings me back when my friends and I rode our bikes with all all our baseball gear to the park on a Saturday morning in July. I brought my "transistor radio" along so we could listen to songs like this as we played ball and let our youth take over. Now I still rise early to a cup of coffee, listen to this and... remember

  • let's hear it for dollyfarinelli for making this song available to us all. A deserved round of appluase I do say indeed!!! Bravo!!

  • We all like to think that our generation was the greatest. Just ask your mother or father. But in all fairness I beleive the 60s were the best among all. This was the first that people came together and really loved thy neighbers and people around them. And its all started in San Francisco. In 1969 I hear this song from Tommy James well its unforgetable to this day Yes LOVE IS THE ANSWER and yes its the greatest song of all time. Thank you Tommy.

  • Well done! good job. Cool wave effects at 3;22.. how did u do that? After Effects?

  • First heard this song at Fort Rucker, Alabama where I was taking AIT (Advanced Individual Training). I trained to be a UH-1 helicopter mechanic (crew chief / door gunner). A few months later, I was in Chu Lai, Vietnam. I served one tour from August 1969 until August 1970. Then I volunteered to go back after one month in the States but the Army wouldn't do it. I had to wait for six months before I went back to Vietnam in 1971 until 1972. I loved Vietnam but I hated to see the GIs suffer.

  • This song came out in 1969 and I never forgot how good this is. Thank you tommy

  • thank you everyone that has sent messages in my inbox over the last 9 months about their experiences and remembering this song...still very very awesome...specially in these troubled times we live in now...God Bless everyone!

  • One of the greatest songs of all times. How many people dare try and remake this one. Not too many. Talk about a tough act to follow.

  • When this song was released I was a teenager and I thought it was a hippie movement anthem. Love and peace, etc....the peace movement and anti-Viet Nam and so forth. It's touching to know that he was singing about his Christian beliefs. I love this version....his singing is so heart-felt. Love it.

  • one of the best feel good songs ever

  • I Heard the interview, the song is about spirituality not religion. The miracle of being transformed in your spirit by the blood of Jesus Christ and the same power that raised Him from the dead.

  • It moves.

  • An unforgettable song and time, this is a sound that puts one in a good mood and state of mind

  • What a great song. always keeps me in a great mood.

  • I wonder where Tommy James is at now-a-dayd?

  • @jackpepper2000 Please see You Tube entitled : Tommy James: Behind the Crystal Blue Persuasion

  • I don't care what time of year it is, this song comes on.....and it's Summer ! Cruising to the beach or along the wooded roads.....Life is good.

    you know,

  • Thanks for this, it's fabulous!

  • 4 people won't open their mind

  • @tuckers02 - always some jackwagon around ready to take a crap in the punchbowl.

  • Just to add to my post on the New Orleans statement is imagine N.O. but it happens world wide & the turmoil that followed . Look at what has happened in Haiti , Pakistan , New Zealand , Iceland & Indonesia . Just something to consider to prepare for the worst & hope for the best . Maybe this will be another Y2K but I doubt it .

  • I love what you did here! Thanks for taking the time :)

  • This is so beautiful thanks for sharing

  • What a great song !!!!!!!!!!

  • intersting story behind the song.

  • This song is abt Jesus=)

  • I think every one should play this song on Dec 21st 2012 .

  • @altatoth1958 why?

  • @HaWkBeAtLeSnElSoN The words "a new day is comming . People are changing ain't it beautiful " made me think about Dec 21st 2012 . You've heard about the Mayan calendar ends on the Winter Solstice 2012 .

  • @altatoth1958 check out the story behind this song.... It is about Jesus. really.

  • @altatoth1958 why?

  • @LoneJackel As I replied a few days ago . It seems to be a perfect song to play on a day when many experts have come to 3 different events that might happen on Dec 21st 2012 . 1) comet hitting the earth or missing but close enough to change the rotation 2) sun flare that wipes out all electronic equipment that puts everyone back 100 years . 3) volcanic eruptions , earth quakes & other natural disasters that would happen . Remember New Orleans in 2005 .

  • TJ and Shondells @ CNE Sept1 I've got a doob and the trippin' is good

  • peace love and gratitude

  • Thanks for posting. This is one of the iconic songs of the Sixties for me. Good feelings. Haven't given up yet.

  • One of my most vivid memories Of my youth{14 yrs old} was of my Mom and Dad dropping me and my cousin off on their way to our cottage and us hitching on to the lake, only to be picked up by my girlfriend and her mom.We sat in the rear seat and all we could do was stare,we didn,t speak, her mom didn,t know,we were so young. This song was playing, the day was beautiful and we were so in love.It didn,t last of course,it couldn,t,but when I hear this song I remember that summer and think of her.

  • @8moody1, Awesome Memories !

  • I'd never really listened to the lyrics before. I always figured that he was singing the song to a woman who had crystal blue coloured eyes that persuaded him to do whatever she wanted him to do.

I had no idea the lyrics were ladden with commune-cult-bullshit.

Just as well that I didn't really listen to the words way back when.

I wouldn't have liked the tune anywhere near as much as I did.

The tune itself is pretty darn catchy.

  • I like this song and a great video to go with it love peace and crystal blue persuasion

  • i like this song. Crystal Blue Persuasion was written based on a blue book edited by the Watchtower Society which talks about the profecies of the Bible books Ezequiel, Isaiah, and Revelation. In these profecies talk about a new earth with peace and brotherhood. LOve this song!!!

  • He sounds even better now than he did in the 60s!

  • am trying to find Morcheeba's cover of this....xo

I had a soup up Chevy Malibu with big wide Tire, cruising down to Santa Monica beach with the wind blowing in while driving, man, I will never forget those time, I hope my old girl friends are doing well. Peace to all, wish the day like the 60s would come upon us again.

  • AWESOME SONG !!!

  • love it

  • THIS IS WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW! It is so cool

  • everytime I hear this song I see myself on the beach in San Diego (Im a 19 yr old newly formed navy squid) soaking up the rays........the women dont notice me, cuz I have short hair (1969) and all the guys back then had long hair....so they know Im navy and they hated us back then.....

lol but i still remember the wonder years even tho i was a kid :)

  • @billyjoebobway Yes, feel the same. We would ride our bikes with our baseball gear to the park to play ball and enjoy the summer with songs like this. 52 now, and still enjoy a 5 AM sunrise listening to this.

  • @billyjoebobway Yes it was GREAT I remember all these song and to this day I love them still in that time we had NOTHING to worry about going anywhere was safe I miss that time it was good and I'm glad to be apart of that time thanks for the songs

  • @billyjoebobway

    you make me so jealous

  • @billyjoebobway Freedom and peace all brought to you by the proud men and women who served WWI WWII Korea and Vietnam

  • I love what you did there with the visuals.

  • I really enjoy how Mr. James experimented with sound in the production of his records. A wall of sound, but very different from the Phil Spector genre.

  • oh soooooooooooooooo groooooooooooooooovy . . . Love this song!

  • Awesome creation!

  • @eaaifiwate, thank you for your awesome comment! the music is the awesome creation! i just put together images that the song made me see in my mind's eye.

  • gwinnfreeland ... Tommy James disagrees with you.

  • a1957scorpio, great comment! i don't know Tommy James, but I sure he disagrees with gwinnfreeland. It is such a transcendent song! Timeless and so hopeful.

  • Oh memories!..In the late sixties when this song came out I was just a kid growing into a man..but whenever I listened to this song my spirit was lifted and my imagination would drift away in dreams of youth! Thanks for posting it.

  • thanks for your kind comment, proudaddy1980. it sure made me smile!

  • Comment removed

  • Gwinn, Maybe LISTEN to the LYRICS, next time, before judging!! "Open Your Heart and Mind" It's a new era, of transformation, of brotherhood and peace. The Age of Aquarius, which we are now experiencing!!

  • cptmccoy, thank you for your excellent comment.

  • This music has nothing to do with Christianity, or religion ! It's a song about drugs ! You na'ive people !!!

The euphoric feeling of getting high is what it's about. It was written and preformed in the 70's, when smoking pot was new. and you thought it was about

religion ? Man, are you stupid !!!

  • gwinnfreeland, for me, Crystal Blue Persuasion is a transcendent song... about "peace and good and brotherhood"... both a plea and a hopeful message... "the sun is rising... people are changing... a new vibration... maybe tomorrow..." i don't know what specific influences (religious or otherwise) motivated Tommy James to write and perform this gem, but I am certain that the message is about how we should be treating other members of the human family and it is a message of hope.
