I love this man, he's just honest and be himself, i find it hard to do, except if you have accepted yourself, bad sides and good sides. But we also see that Noel is kinda charming, he can be really charming.. especially to his wife.
He's always willing to give interviews and tries to give sensible answers too... which tell you how much of a good man he is, init?? He could just take the piss out of the stupid interviewers...
He speaks so true always! He's a really closed person but transparent. Most of the people think he's arrogant and with a huge ego but when he's actually in the middle of security and insecurity. He's so cute when he says today I feel OK it makes me want to hug him!
Noel is on a right downer here aint he? Its funny how he says ""My music has changed my life, but I don't know if it's changed anybody else's." and then they play a clip of Live Forever and its like.....Live Forever has changed the face of british music and thus thousands of lives.
people need to understand the difference between real and rude,
if someone asked you, if u liked a band and u said, no they suck, thats your opinion,
it just happens that most celebrities play this game, where they can't say what they mean, and stay politically correct, noel and liam don't play that game,
they say what they mean, it just happens their famous
I've heard people calling him rude a million times.. and arrogant. But i've seen tons of videos of him, and never ONCE did he seem rude, to me. He just has a spicy type of humor; very sarcastic - hilarious actually. And says his opinion, and whatever is on his mind. That's why he's so fucking great. he doesn't attack other people, so hes not rude at all. He criticised my all time favorite band once, but I don't mind really, because that's his opinion, and he wasn't rude about it
I've met Noel and this is just what he was like, even to me a complete stranger. He was a nice, intelligent guy...completely the opposite of how he likes to be in the english press. Noel, you're an inspiration, thank you!
I think the fact that the interviewer was very respectful and not pushy/interrogative allowed Noel to relax and open up a bit, he didn't have to be defensive. Great interview for that reason.
He said that he could only aspire the the cultural impact of the Beatles. Which may be true. But then again...there will never be another Oasis.
I think that the most telling thing is that new British bands are no longer the biggest thing since the Beatles, or the next Beatles. They are the next Oasis, and the biggest thing since Oasis. And that makes me proud.
"The Gallagher brothers, mainly regarded the central members, are Noel and Liam. This time I met the elder one, Noel, who is thought to be the leader of the band and writes most of the band's songs. This is the film of the interview and their live show which was held in Yokohama the other day. Please watch it."
BTW, regrettably, the interviewer died of cancer last year. He was such a gentleman always having an impartial point of view.
i like this interview- the interviewer is like a japanese parky! noel's a bit quiet though isn't he, and modest? he seems to have his guard down a little bit and his ego has shrunk a bit too during these 10 mins
I know, but it's only recently they've become as big as they are there now. DBTT was their first No.1 album there and its also their biggest selling album there I think
Oasis are huge in Japan, but its only recently that they've become big over there (strangely). I think Don't Believe The Truth was their first number one album there, although i may be wrong
Oasis have been mentioned in Japan's major foreign music magazines before their 2005 album...so they've been quite well known and popular among foreign music fans in Japan for quite a while. So it's not like they've just started to become popular or anything over here.
Well maybe what he meant was that he hasn't made anyone a better person. His music gave a lot of positive things to many people, and it effected their lives, but that doesn't necessarily mean that their lives were changed into something new and better. Just a guess...
No he didn't say that, he said "I don't know if it's changed anyone else's". This guy is definitely not a fool; I just enjoy watching the interviews because of his honest and down to earth intelligence. Not a massive fan of Oasis' music really, I like music that's a bit more elaborate.
Oasis changed my life. I'm 17, and I heard The Importance Of Being Idle on the radio on the way to Gatwick Airport and couldn't get it out of my head. I bought Don't Believe The Truth at the terminal, and since then i look at music completely differently. Thank you Oasis.
wow what a great interview the arrogance and bad language seems to have faded a wee bit as noel has matured more serious side where he admitted that oasis will never have the cultural impact that the Beatles had 10 out of 10 very good interview
Noel never actually felt they were bigger than the Beatles.
He was joking around, and was really, really drunk most of the time... However, at the top of his career upon his ridiculously large amounts of success in a couple of years due to only his song writing (all the other great bands had multiple songwriters), he enjoyed being cocky.
I completely agree with you. Now, he should interview Liam just to see if we've got the same results. I just want to hear Liam speaking normaly, not being arrogant (then I want him to b him again of course, otherwise he wouldn't be Liam) answering seriously.
shatomanya - you referenced when Noel said at the end of the interview, "I don't buy it anymore." I believe he said, "I don't bite anymore." The Japanese journalist mentioned that his friends said he'd have a hard time interviewing Noel and Noel responded "Maybe about 3 or 4 years ago it'd be very difficult but..... I don't bite anymore."
perhaps..even after wachting millions of interviews I don't get him at times-also because my mother tongue is spanish-that mancunian accent is hard enough. But I'not all mistaken; something changed in the band-(besides andy & gem) and in noel's head and its clear on SOTSOG. Who feels love: "now you understand that this is not the promised land, they spoke out" I guess they've grown up, but I still dig it!
At the end when noel says "I don't buy it anymore" the context of the question makes you think ah!the cocaine habbit! but I believe he's thinking of the whole rock star pose. We fans of oasis and rock n' roll know that honesty is what its all about. So I feel its alright, don't you think?
i like when he says he doesn't mind interviews if it is in foreign countries... i never see him in france ( tht s wher i live now ). and it is a shame
"I'm generally in the middle of security and insecurity"

come on, noel, of course your music has changed other people's lives
simple lyrics, simple melodies, for simple people, that's why you're very like the fantastic beatles, that's why the comparisons to them
that working class boy from manchester is why you're who you are, honest, hard working, intelligent, moral....
you really can and should only rely on yourself
you're the best thing since the beatles
