  • Awesome Paul! You are the Kat! ~ "Jamaica Funk-Kats"

  • DVD arrived a couple days ago. Good stuff. Best part is how he breaks down chords. Such great tone and phrasing.

  • @catholicservant there is a booklet with?

  • @MattBlackParis Inside the DVD cover you get a small sheet of paper with a password to use on the website and download a PDF.

It contains some warmup exercises and some of the chord changes PJJr uses in the instructional video.

  • Hello there! I just have a quick question. I know how to read tab sheet. I wonder if reading music sheet still needed? Thanks a lot for your help.

    Blessings

  • Awesome. Just ordered the instructional DVD.

  • hes too good! but his eyes look like its GARFIELD going crazy on the guitar

  • for those who don't know, you're facing a guitar legend. Respect

  • One word! Awesome!

  • Anybody know if this is a sample from another song and if yes, the name of that song please?! The guitar work is just majestuous, as for the rest of instruments!

  • I just realized, there's not a comment about Justin Bieber anywhere on this video...

  • Fretted americana!

  • Agreed lol

  • The dislikes are lady gaga fans.

  • @superreverbfreak

i play metal but ive been playing this song called Lie in our Graves by Dave mathews which is good but i would like to know more songs

  • @superreverbfreak id say cocaine by eric clapton is pretty fun and easy...umm...remedy by the black crowes....superstious by stevie wonder....as far as metal....i think entersandman is a good rhythm guitar song....just whatever you like really is key

  • this is rhythm guitar? I think he's playing lead... this isn't right?

  • Though I am a shredder I am still struggling to play decently this man's solo on wanna be starting something by Michael Jackson... and I really liked this lesson

  • The best advices i ever had since i started playing guitar. Thank you Mr Jackson.

  • wow - you can play on my album anytime -- very nice

  • wow, why doesn't Paul create a song around that intro, I think it's awesome!

  • I do the same thing about space without thinking about it, good lesson.

  • But in a live setting you play on stage..... keyboard player is everywhere then you gotta change your rhythm because he or she is stealing your licks...... Then you get blamed for being tooo busy !!! LOL not fair man......

  • awesome dance. lol

paul jackson jr. is the man. one of the greatest rhythm guitarists ever. i'd say this guy and spanky alford are some of my favorites.

  • My new hero, what a cool guy!

  • That's hella cool !!

  • Anybody have this DVD? Torrent, video post, or something? Thx :)

  • Comment removed

  • That is a super cool Hollowbody Les Paul Custom. I ve been dreaming of having one made just like that (for jazz) with a mini humbucker at the neck and spruce top (mahogany neck and maple back and sides), soooo awsome to see one of my favorite guitarists plays what I had in mind!!

  • I love Paul Jackson Jr in a not homosexual way!

  • thats a cool cat

  • Kirk Hammett is better!!!!

    .... just joking ^

  • sweet guitar lick!

    HoPe

  • my goodness..great tip..being the icing on the cake

  • genius at work!

  • I totally agree, awesome DVD, but I love the amount of positive comments, all the other guitar clips have so many people bitching at each other

  • wow bro you re so great, please come to mexico n teach us , or say me were is our church n i will go to. sorry for m y english God bless you.

  • God dammit I'm quitting!

  • best session guitarist ever...besides michael thompson. But he is also good on Marcus Miller's CD "FREE" check out the track "Blast" and his crazy middle eastern solo on his Takamine acoustic....Just an all round awesome guitarist...

  • Wow. This dude is awesome. I have always been floored by his excellent rhythm techniques

  • Isn't that Dean Brown who played that on the record?

I agree, Paul Jackson Jr. is the man! Also check out a guy called Jairus Mozee (check the video called "just messin' around")

  • hahahaha "sweenter to finnish it off".

he has just made something out of nothing! i could listen to that all day. without solos and melodys!

  • amazing this man speaks the truth!

  • Simply amazing, one of the greatest session players on the planet without a doubt

  • very well said...

  • es muy bueno este guitarrista.!

  • Wow!! wish our guitarist would watch this...brilliant!

  • Love your playing Paul. WIll get the DVD. Saw you in Nashville with my fav, Chuck Loeb last week. Got excited about your sound and bought at few of your CD's already. Thanks for the gift.

  • U r my guru! I have been following your music for a long time. Thanku for the great music...

  • What a great lesson in just 2 mins!

  • And, THAT'S why he's one of the best there is!

I love how he comes up with something that not only fits, but is smokin'!

Sadly, most guitarists these days only manage the former.

    But, again, that's subjective.

  • You are the best guitar teacher. I could sit and listen to you all day. I loved your song about walking with Jesus. It was vey well arranged and now I know why:) I'm just learning to play (a lefty) but it's so hard to get motivated with all of the right handed guitars. I guess Jimi has been good motivation so I'm learning on a right handed guitar flipped and strung for lefty as a start:) I really like your rhythm though.

  • LOOK AT MR. PAUL!! Lol'.

  • Thanks Paul!!! That's GREAT news!! I'll be first in line to buy a copy.

  • I don't know WHY they won't re-release this on DVD... a few years back I saw a used VHS copy on Ebay go for $75.00. I bid on it too, but got outbid towards the end.... I haven't seen a copy since. There is a demand for it. There are plenty of vids to teach us how to shred, how to riff..etc but not a lot of resources for great Funk/R&B rhythm.

  • Hey, This is Paul Jackson jr. We have just put the video on DVD. It will be for sale through the normal channels in about 2 weeks or so. Stay tuned. God bless.

    Paul Jackson jr.

  • Fantastic video! One of the best. Thanks for re-issuing it.

  • I just got my autographed copy!!! Thanks Paul, you are the man!! This is by far the best instructional for guitarists out there.

    Keep groovin' brother!!!

  • Where did you buy it from? I'm desperate to get my hands on it.

  • you can purchase the original DVD @ PaulJacksonJr com

  • Man, is this guy good.

  • Wow such great tips. Paul Jackson Jr. is one of the best Guitarrists

  • This is really awesome. What a fantastic demonstration. PJ is one of the all time best.

  • Great master!

  • I was enjoying that, I almost forgot it was a lesson once he started playing. Great video!

  • What's the guitar he's playing in this really too short vid?

  • He's teaching concepts that are pretty much ancient in todays music. "Play what you have to play and stay out of the way." Old funk guitarists saying. You want to accentuate whats going on as much as you can without having everything be cluttered!!!

  • You dont know anything about music!!

  • lol.. i guess

  • i have played and recorded with some folks that do not understand what Paul Jackson teaches on this vid. What he said is a lost art from what i hear today. Whole lotta show, not a lot of substance out here.

  • hey people i'm looking for some video on guitar that will teach u how to play the style of R&B like usher and r.kelly. any can help me? thanks

  • type in Jairus Mozee.. he plays that style of r n b very well

  • THANKS I will !

  • Yes, the most excellent Paul Jackson Jr!

Love his playing it's so cool. He is the R&B funk rhythm master. If you have more of this please upload. Can you get this on dvd?

  • great stuff...yeah, PLEASE upload more of this!

  • This is so cool! Please upload some more of this.

  • Brilliant! Paul Jackson is SO musical and he is such a nice guy. His guitar instruction video is a gem, I hope it will be available somewhere soon. Even smooth jazz guitarist Norman Brown with all his enormous talent relies on Paul Jackson at times to lay down some of the Rhythm Guitar tracks on his CDs, that's how good Paul Jackson is!
