  • I tell ya what! 2nd gear in most nissans is a head snatcher! I owned a moderately tuned Type M and 2nd was no joke but to see this GTR in 2nd gear just vanish around the track's corner after a torquey fishtail, was just amazing. Gotta love it.

  • OS gearbox, long first, quick 2,3,4, wangan style 5th. Car is 2.7l stroker with HKS 51r KAI, its gonna be a touch laggy. Best dyno, 744 AWD.

And people don't understand that when that turbo spools up, that's alot of extra power and it has to go somewhere really fast, and if you don't have a good suspension/tire setup you will either spin or break something.

  • Its a RB26DETT, race breed 2.6ltr, double overhead cams, EFI, twin turbo.

    They were detuned to meet Jap regulations for publicly sold cars to 207kw or around 280hp.

    Re-chip the ecu, fit a larger fuel pump and injectors, bolt on a bigger turbo package and over 1000hp is normal. The stock internals were good for 600-800hp, just add forged rods and pistons to go higher. That car had a aftermarket rev limiter so it backfired as it bounced off the limit till he shifted. They often flame when doing it

    1000whp is no easy feat for these you can always put in the 1000HP chip though...

    they werent detuned they were just underated.

  • I agree. for 1000whp you need at the minimum 1000cc injectors, then you need the ecu mods or aftermarket ecu PLUS air flow meters/mass air pressure metres, as well as the fuelpump to cope with the excess. Seriously, there are some stupid numbers thrown about by people who have no clue about what needs to be done to get to that level of performance. And that leads to another point - sure it might get to 1000hp but do you think that anything over 500hp is drivable on the street? guess again..

  • load of crap. i own one. you have the stock numbers right but claiming over 1000hp is normal is a load of shit. to get that sort of power you need to do a stupendous amount of modifications. stock internals are good for 400hp/300kw >safely) or 400kw if you want to push them. you need at the least a retrofitted oil system, forged pistons and a head baffle with a catch can if you expect to run a gtr on the track, and thats the minimum. That car had a bee-r rev limiter fyi.

  • Why are you surprised, most of what top secret produces is around the 1000 hp mark, they build their own cars and 1000hp out of a GTR is pretty common today. Yep fuel system, forged internals, turbos, dog box etc, etc but its very common today.

    Yes i own a GTR also, a HKS Kansai R32.

  • Define 'common'. Most R32 GTRs around the world are lucky to be modded with a reliable 350kw build, simply because the majority are used as vehicles, rather than dyno queens. Anyone can pump out a number, put a huge laggy turbo on it, get forged internals, and all the accessories etc, doesnt quite make for a drivable vehicle. Sure, 1000hp is great for drags, but for targa rally give me a reliable and reponsive 450kw on GT-RS turbors, (or 320kw on GT-SS turbos) to do the job.

  • Well thats why these workshops build and sell them, its to make a dollar as many buyers are chasing dyno queen numbers that are undriveable.

    Id agree, id also prefer something drivable with response than heaps of lag with big dyno numbers.

  • Thats a good point (re tuner builds for money)... Ive seen the HKS and Tomei build GTRs, which are quite impressive. I'd be afraid to drive them on a road though, once that boost hits and pushes u into ur seat, sometimes its like the car has a mind of its own... usually the 4wd counters the powerslides but with 1000hp I reckon it could be a tad difficult to control (esp in the wet)

  • lol 1000hp common. you have got to have very deep pockets to be able to get anywhere near that power and then even deeper pockets to set the car up to be able to handle that power. power without control is a pointless comodity

  • 0:15-0:20 is turbo lag. In most of these big-single GT-Rs, the party doesn't even start until 5k rpm.

  • @drauglintuor doesnt seem like much of turbo lag, because they start at a lower rpm and work their way up, unless he gave it a shot of nitrous. Even if it gets real good at 5k the standard redline is 7k, and that is usually peak boost which doesn't shoot all at once.

  • Standard redline is 8k rpm, not 7k. And it is turbo lag; With high boost on big single turbos, the turbo doesn't spool up linearly. It usually builds gradually and then spikes when torque peaks. Alot depends on the size and configuration of the engine, in relation to the size of the turbo and how much pressure it's running.

    I have heard alot of GTRs and am in the process of importing a GTS-T single turbo myself, but the Mclaren is simply orgasmic.

    The F1 has a 0-60 in 3.2 and the RB26 has a 4.7.

    It is totally illogical to be comparing these cars anyways, take a look at the cams for example, the RB26 is your typical dual overhead, the F1 has quad cams on 16 valves, I don't see why I am even trying to convince you that the F1 is clearly a better engine because it is obviously is.

    Although the Skyline may be better suited for street, the F1 is still an overall better built car. End of story.

    There are more than a few GTR's out there that could spank an F1. Eventually the F1 would technically catch up, but that would take a bit more than a mile.

    besides if i got an F1 Id just sell it get an r32, r33, r34, r35 and a house, put some money in the cars and then put the rest in the bank. Set for life!

  • you're wrong about the RB26 again. The Rb26 was designed to do 500-600hp for racing. It's not doing that from factories to the public because its detuned and underpowered due to laws restricting power on JPN roads.

    You have it totally backwards which is funny because you go "End of story". No, its actually the total opposite, the F1 is actually better suited for the street than the R32. The R32 was designed to race from the ground up. It is not better suited for the street than the F1 at all.

  • it underpowered! fuck id be happy if i could get a skyline (stock or not) its detuned???? thats just the program that on the computer.. its not 500hp because the turbos, cams, exhaust, intakes, tune, displament, ect you want to race sick a set of big twins on or build a single.. or do as a supra (bpu) and road race it and become a good driver there for you dont need 600hp..

    The GTS-T is bascially a project car for me (if things work out)
