@dennisgolleher I was born 10 years later though i appreciate 70s and 80s music. Only 2 covers of iron surpass imo opinion A7X flash of the blade and trivium's Iron Maiden. The whole point of covers is to give notice to these songs to a younger generation and make it sound newer as well as pay respects to the band. With so many tribute albums to maiden i think only 2 songs surpass the original. Not hatin my ass dude.
I like Iron Maidens version better than Avenged because its original and matches Bruce better than M. Shadows,, but I do also like Avenged Sevenfolds version because the sound is more updated. There ya go . No arguing. aint that crazy?

silvertear 1; PHENOMENA is a very underated film. I originally saw it in a heavily-cut version under the title of CREEPERS.....and in that form, it's virtually incomprehensible! The first IRON MAIDEN album i heard was "Number of the Beast" when I was sixteen-a friend played it to me and I was hooked! Up the Irons!

I love IRON MAIDEN and I really like AVENGED SEVENFOLD......but I wasn't that keen on their version of this song. I actually heared this first on the soundtrack of the Dario Argento film PHENOMENA and it was basically Horror films that got me into Metal. Didn't hear anything that was the musical equivalent of a Horror film until I heared MERCYFUL FATE and KING DIAMOND. Nevertheless....UP THE IRONS!!!!
So Iron Maiden and a7x have toured together and get along greatly. a7x looks up to maiden so anyone who insults maiden is also indirectly insulting a7x. and I'm pissed i didn't see them tour together that would have been a fucking killer ass show. Iron Maiden is the best and tightest band in Heavy Metal. Their musicianship level is stronger than anyone else's. This song is from Powerslave, 1984. Which means there were no absolutely ridiculous triggers, compressors, plastic distortions, auto-tunes and digitally overproduced vocals. Lots of bands try to do good covers of Maiden but I heard only Dream Theater's "To Tame A Land" that could stand next to the original. Man, NOBODY can beat their musicianship level. NOBODY! :)

@OmegaDarkful Black Sabbath CREATED heavy metal. Judas Priest, Rainbow, and Deep Purple all came before Maiden too. Now, that's no disrespect to Maiden, but I'm not a fan of historical revisionism. Maiden was arguably the best band of the NWOBHM, but see, that stands for New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Couldn't have been part of that movement if they invented the genre, now could they? The "New" part pretty much says that alone.

@dennisgolleher I was born 10 years later though i appreciate 70s and 80s music. Only 2 covers of iron surpass imo opinion A7X flash of the blade and trivium's Iron Maiden. The whole point of covers is to give notice to these songs to a younger generation and make it sound newer as well as pay respects to the band. With so many tribute albums to maiden i think only 2 songs surpass the original. Not hatin my ass dude.

I like Iron Maidens version better than Avenged because its original and matches Bruce better than M. Shadows,, but I do also like Avenged Sevenfolds version because the sound is more updated. There ya go . No arguing. aint that crazy?

silvertear 1; PHENOMENA is a very underated film. I originally saw it in a heavily-cut version under the title of CREEPERS.....and in that form, it's virtually incomprehensible! The first IRON MAIDEN album i heard was "Number of the Beast" when I was sixteen-a friend played it to me and I was hooked! Up the Irons!

I love IRON MAIDEN and I really like AVENGED SEVENFOLD......but I wasn't that keen on their version of this song. I actually heared this first on the soundtrack of the Dario Argento film PHENOMENA and it was basically Horror films that got me into Metal. Didn't hear anything that was the musical equivalent of a Horror film until I heared MERCYFUL FATE and KING DIAMOND. Nevertheless....UP THE IRONS!!!!

So Iron Maiden and a7x have toured together and get along greatly. a7x looks up to maiden so anyone who insults maiden is also indirectly insulting a7x. and I'm pissed i didn't see them tour together that would have been a fucking killer ass show. One of the best bands of the 80's and one of the best of today together THATS EPIC AS HELL

Nicko McBrain hits almost every drummer in modern metal in the way of free playing and acoustic sound. and yes, I forgot he doesn't metronomes, triggers live and he always improvises :)

Iron Maiden is the best and tightest band in Heavy Metal. Their musicianship level is stronger than anyone else's. This song is from Powerslave, 1984. Which means there were no absolutely ridiculous triggers, compressors, plastic distortions, auto-tunes and digitally overproduced vocals. Lots of bands try to do good covers of Maiden but I heard only Dream Theater's "To Tame A Land" that could stand next to the original. Man, NOBODY can beat their musicianship level. NOBODY! :)

@loganizz124 the simple difference is that without maiden avenged sevenfold wouldnt probably exist nowadays and that actually exactly this song is the soundtrack of one of the best horror movies of all times PHENOMENA! Its about taste i know but avenged sevenfold will be one of those bands gone and forgotten in time 5 years. How many years is that Iron Maiden is playing?

There are all these people who started listening to real music two days ago and still they have to express their dumb opinion over things they dont even know about! To dislike or not a song is something, to say that a cover is better than the original (when sounds exactly the same but played bad) is another. Ehhhh...

@OmegaDarkful Black Sabbath CREATED heavy metal. Judas Priest, Rainbow, and Deep Purple all came before Maiden too. Now, that's no disrespect to Maiden, but I'm not a fan of historical revisionism. Maiden was arguably the best band of the NWOBHM, but see, that stands for New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Couldn't have been part of that movement if they invented the genre, now could they? The "New" part pretty much says that alone.

@OmegaDarkful Yeah, Maiden is a 'standard' of Heavy Metal, one of the bands who contributed to the development of this Style. I'm fourty, I lived in a village of 500 inhab. in 1984, where the 'heavier sounds' came from dogs, and our cassette player and had the chance to get this Album... 27 years later.... my opinion, is that no one can disagree this is a Piece of Mind, Art in its pure essence... those who have understanding... This is A REAL BIG BAND !!!!

It seems we got a whole generation that have missed something like 20 years of music... they started listening music in late nineties with new bands and totally forgot to get back to the roots to understand what actually real music was supposed to be!
