its a tad blurry... as pointed out previously, but at least a refreshing change from animation... i saw a george c scott movie once from 1976...but seems unavailable.
I think I figured out why it's blurry. I used a website to download this episode while it was on youtube before it got deleted, but I guess that made it lose its quality.
Just 7 years after this episode of the Faerie Tale Theatre version of the fairy tale aired Disney adapted the fairy tale into an animated musical which became the first animated film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, even though it lost to The Silence Of The Lambs.
OMG this is almost an EXACT recreation of Jean Coqteau's La Belle et la Bete from 1946. The sets, the costumes, even some of the dialogue. It's AMAZING. I love this.
The cinematography done for Beauty's home was shot using reel film whereas the scenes of the Beast's palace were videotaped to give it an otherworldy feel. This same technique was used in a version of "The Secret Garden" - reel film for exterior shots, videotape for interior ones.
Nice!

I know, and I love both adaptations SO much ^_^ I wish Beauty and the Beast won Best Picture instead of losing to a cannibal.
