Are you guys listening to yourselves? The AFC wasn't nearly as dominant as the Seahawks were that year. SB 40 almost makes me sick, because we were the better team, we were the best team out of both conferences. Seahawks are getting back on their feet, and have had 5 players into the probowl this year. And @commy9191. Dude, shut your mouth. The Seahawks are a legitimate team on the rise; have you even seen any games this year? We have beaten very good teams (Ravens, Giants, etc.).
@SoundersandSeahawks not to mention the improvements the entire team has made. going from one of the last ranking defenses in the beginning of the season to TENTH. not to mention T.J is getting better. the receivers do work and seem to understand jackson. i think the offensive line needs to continue improving protection and he need one more pass rusher. other than that, 2012 will be our year.
i just noticed how matt hesselbeck was so slow, glad we released him.. and now the titans lost to the winless colts and next year we need to draft a new QB
@MrBeanerKiller -- very soft. I dont know if it was his knees or what. But he simply didn't have that aggression that the fans wanted to see...and never seemed to get up himself. I cannot remember a time seeing him on his back NOT holding his hand up waiting for help.
hmm. If u guys pay close attention it is the o line doin all the work...this guy was just good at finding wide open holes against shitty ass teams, not to mention how bad the nfc west was..i mean is. i guess i cant say im not surprised this guy is now watchin football at home.
@djZeRoF0Rce How bad the NFC is/was? The NFC West has sent two teams to the Superbowl since 2005. Thats more than the beloved NFC and AFC East has done in that time. Alexander is the #2 Rb of the early 2000's. Only LT has had more touchdowns and rushing yards during that time. NFL network has Alexander on their all Decade Team. Quit being a troll and learn some facts first. BTW. All rb's find wide open holes to run thru created by their line. It's the premise of rushing the football.
@djZeRoF0Rce Well dipshit you do realize ANY RB cant do anything without a line, your like all the others who bashed on him in his in his last two seasons, he did WORK from 2000 through 2007, the NFL lifespan of runningback is very short so stop being a bitch and learn how football works.
After just watching all of his touchdowns from that year i'am not impressed. Alexander was running behind All-Pros Walter Jones, Steve Hutchinson and Mack Strong! I mean c'mon they could have prolly had the Cardinals RB Marcel Shipp as their starter running behind those blockers and had 1,500 yards rushing and 20 td's!
why can't they run these kinds of plays with Peyton Hillis in Cleveland and their version of the west coast offense? Holmgreen has control of that team. Instead they run him straight up the gut every down when he has shown last year that he is excellent on the toss play and the stretch play, and he showed this Denver as well. If Hillis went untouched for 10 yards like this there would be some injured players who got in the way
@Irvin884 The same thing that happens to every running back at age 30, with only the exception of W.Payton and Emmitt Smith. 2,500+ carries and they all become average to worthless from the wear and tear..
@Irvin884 The Madden curse happened. The year after this MVP season he got hurt and Seattle eventually got rid of him and he went to the Redskins. his last season in 2008 and played like 4 games and faded into oblivion. The funny thing is he hasn't retired yet, even though he hasn't played in the NFL since 2008. He keeps hoping a team will sign him but no one wants him anymore cuz he got too slow and old.

i just realized how bad we were as seahawks fans to boo this guy during his last two years here. We expected so much out of him, but he didnt have hutch and injuries bugged him throughout the o6 and 07 season. He still managed to average 800 yards his last two season. more than marshawn or justin foresett
i give him props, and i hope is number gets retired in our building, along with matt, mack, and walter
@crazymanjonchin I agree with you Jonchin. Anyone who ever booed Shaun Alexander doesn't know anything about football. He was great, even when was playing with BROKEN BONES in his body his last two seasons.
@crazymanjonchin i still supported him throughout his career even when he went downhill! He was still a great man and still had a positive attitude! such a great role model.
@nachocheezzz88 He got old? It happens to every runningback lol. The runningback wall is like age 30. When they hit it, they usually start faltering in production. It's happening to Tomlinson now. Barry Sanders retired just after age 30. So did Walter Payton
shaun sucked. all his touchdowns were because of his o line. look what happened to him after this year. the oline got hurt, and he sucked. overatted. pathetic
Yes Alexander had an incredible o-line but the man had very good speed and a nack for getting through a hole and up field. I think a lot of the crap he used to get is bullshit.
That O-LINE is amazing!!! The only reason why the Hawks have sucked for awhile is 'cause of management; not the O-line. Management isn't addressing issues and still hasn't.
@Colin2k41 They don't usually make a big deal about a player retiring when he doesn't have a contract with any team. He retired last year as a free agent.
Love Alexander, but he was very overrated. If it wasn't for Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson, Alexander would have half as many TD's that he got that season.
@kdoggjr you can say that about any running back (and quartback). Only a few rare players like Manning (who can release the ball quickly from snap to throw) and Barry Sanders (who had the most negative running plays than any other RB but his o-line was horrendous). Imagine Sanders with a decent o-line.
@kdoggjr well ya. it wasn't for having awsome olinemen most great RBs wouldn't be as good. Emmitt Smith wouldn't have been as good without Larry Allen, Ladanian Tomlinson wouldn't have been as good without Marcus McNeill and Kris Dielman. Adrian Peterson would have a harder time without Steve Hutchinson, Chris Johnson wouldn't play as well without Michael Roos and David Stewart.
@bodenslammer40 please get over it, i know there cheaters they just cheated my favorite team in the playoffs yesterday, that was 6 yrs ago... i am from seattle, it doesnt need to be addressed anymore,

Also, I have to second what these guys are saying about Alexander's line... Any reasonably competent NFL running back could have made 95% of these. His celebrations are more impressive than the runs themselves.
wow, i rember that year i admired shaun alexander soooo much and i wasnt even a seahawks fan, tha seahawks still hav plenty of upside with Justin Forsett
The only touchdown that rang a bell in this tribute was the 90 yard run at arizona. I remember me and my dad jumping up and down all excited. To bad we don't jump up and down to much watching the seahawks anymore. Ever since they got rid of Steve Hutchinson they've gone downhill.
I wish he would have stayed with seattle. People please don't lose faith in the seahawks, They have had a wave of injuries, and all they need to do is rebuild a little. Good start with Pete Corral, HE IS A GREAT COACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was about to like this video because the highlights were awesome, but the subliminal frame was just unnecessary. thumbs DOWN

@avdbkr20 he had 252 carries that season

Also, I have to second what these guys are saying about Alexander's line... Any reasonably competent NFL running back could have made 95% of these. His celebrations are more impressive than the runs themselves.

Nice subliminal frame of Alexander and some chick at 2:35.

he sucked. his line was one of the best ever

Geez he makes it look so easy. He runs through so smoothly.

Can't forget Mack Strong. He was legendary that year too. 90% of this video, he's right there, leading the way.

The only touchdown that rang a bell in this tribute was the 90 yard run at arizona. I remember me and my dad jumping up and down all excited. To bad we don't jump up and down to much watching the seahawks anymore. Ever since they got rid of Steve Hutchinson they've gone downhill.
xXMozManXx 1 year ago
He was only good because of Steve Hutchinson and Walter Jones on the left side of the O-line.

Man, he was an outstanding runningback. He really feel fast though. Still, awesome player, I'm happy he could do it in a Seahawks jersey!

Not only was that Shaun Alexander's greatest year but it was the Seahawks greatest year as well. Go Hawks!

I wish he would have stayed with seattle. People please don't lose faith in the seahawks, They have had a wave of injuries, and all they need to do is rebuild a little. Good start with Pete Corral, HE IS A GREAT COACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
