  • Try this with two trailers behind you...

  • I've backed up with my long neck out the window.

  • Not 1 shot but 2 he did pull up once. If he did it in one shot he would of not needed to pull up.

  • no shit never knew that thanks for sharing this

  • This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. It's unsafe and unprofessional to say the least. What an idiot!

  • Sorry driver, standing on the step to back in not only is one of the dumbest and most dangerous things to do, you look dumb doing it. To many "what if's" in this situation.

  • @TheBostonTrucker With classic style KWs and Petes where the Exhaust stack is just behind the door like this, you often need to open the door to lean out to see. The convex and west coast mirrors down give you as good a view as true visuals. I don't put my foot out the door myself, I just lean, but if one is capable of clutching with his left foot, I can't see it being absurdly dangerous. In fact, I feel it is significantly more dangerous to reverse by convex mirror alone.

  • Yeah, he can drive alright! Right on the spot, excellent!

  • I drove a 85 pete 359 and I would have to open the door and move the door accordingly so I can use my mirror in back in......That driver in this video did a great job.

  • Trcking companies shoudn't deliver or load at shithole places like this....screw them, make them build a decent dock or starve

  • @hickrystyk I agree. I use to drive and hated pulling to places like this. It became easier the longer one would drive, but cities like San Fancisco, or many East Coast cities were just like this. It sucked driving in such cities but then arriving at the customer only to find such a crapy dock would really piss me off.

  • y do u call it a tractor trailer???were im from we call it a truck...

  • @robert23566 A truck is a very broad based term for a variety of vehicles. Tractor Trailer implies a power unit with a trailer. Semi Truck, Articulated (Artic) Truck, and Lorry all mean the same thing, a truck towing a trailer.

  • Backing with the door open is old school, a lot of us do it. On certain trucks you can't see past the stacks and the mirrors rattle so bad you can't see shit. He got it in there and didn't hit shit so that's a good back.

  • Amazing! but this is unsafe practice, doing the backing up with open door was really a dangerous, close the door while you in act of reversing, it is enough to put out your head thru the window & watch out your right mirror to avoid blind spot..great for a job well done..from anham drivers training dept,Kuwait.

  • @The041460 that is a Kenworth W900. it is very hard to just look out the window. you have the muffler guard blocking your view. also backing up a long-nosed truck is not like backing a snub-nosed or cab over truck. you need lots of room to get that nose pointed in the right direction, especially when backing. opening the door gives you the best view possible, and if you have a fender mirror - you can see what is going on on the other side of the truck

  • 18 wheeler trailers are nothing.... if u really want a challenge try backing up grain wagons that farmers use. the tongue and front axle turns left and right just like your front tires do on your truck.... good luck with that haha

  • First off, he didn't make that in one shot - I saw him do a pull-up at 0:53, however nice backing job.

  • i think you forgot about saftey!!!! lol

  • I thank it takes pretty good skills to stand outside a rig and back it up considering you cannot see around the pipes, furthermore, lets give credit where credit is due ,do you see the doors width that hes backing into

  • I seen a driver back into a dock like that a couple years ago, all would have been fine but he failed to look things over when he came out of the warehouse to make sure the area was clear were he was backing into and because he was standing on the running boards he couldn't see out the passenger side mirror and ended up bashing in the side of a company van we had just finished loading that was parked at the dock next to the one he was backing into

  • @1966omc - Your post does not make sense because you state that the Driver hit your company van while pulling out of the warehouse. This video is about a Driver Backing into HIS Lane. From what I can gather from your confused comment, maybe the Driver hit your company van while backing into the warehouse. If he did it, like this Driver Did, then your company van must not have been in its proper lane. The Driver in this video could not have hit anything that was not in HIS LANE. - PERIOD

  • Makes perfect since. The van he hit backed into the dock NEXT to were the driver was backing into, what he did was he failed to 1. look to make sure he was in the clear before he backed into the dock he was unloading at and 2. He thought he was johnny bad ass and was standing on the running board instead in the drivers seat like he should have been and because of that he couldn't see out the passenger side mirror and ended up hitting the van

  • @1966omc - This DRIVER is in the hole almost perfect as far as I can see. - If you ask wether I condone standing on the running board while the truck is moving, my answer would be NO but I have done many things in the past because at the time it made the most sense to me. I learn as I LIVE and I hope to continue. - I hope you continue to learn and live much longer as well. - I hope you have learned a little more already. I have.

  • what happens when a kid runs behind you from your blind side?, you might think twice about standing on your step next time. with that said, good backup , thats a hard place to hit first try

  • @djghostonthewheels Well, um,...why the hell would a kid be at a warehouse like this anyhow? A responsible parent/gaurdian would not allow a child to be in harms way. Was that a serious question? As far as standing on the step to back, not good. I have and always will only use my mirrors.

  • I dont see how its unprofessional. you can see better which makes it safer, I stand on the step all the time... just makes life easier

  • So what happens when you fall out of the truck because you were hanging out the door when backing?

    Very unprofessional in my opinion.

  • @mark73168 - If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass when he jumped.
