@joealanouf No, it is not. He would later play "That's allright, mama" and "Are you lonesome tonighr" and play that guitar. He would also play the piano on occasion. He would have been a great rythm guitar player. Just check out the luxe version of the come back show and watch the sit down shows. He plays guitar like anybody.
I think at this point in his life it is more about seeing this huge bigger than life superstar hero in person. He had already conquered. He was the BEST of the BEST.He still gave it his all although, U could see his trouble moving and his trembling on stage. Still, U can't help but just love the guy. He gave u his all to the end.
Omaha. Nebraska june 19th 1977. If you have seen this show in its entirety, then you`ll see that his death was logic. He was so totally out of it on this evening. The only place for him at this point in his life, was a hospital bed. Incredible to think that they would allow him to go on in the condition he was in. He had, in fact, difficulties TALKING in this show.
@Machomannorway Yeah, you are right. I think the Rapid City concert was quite better, but the Omaha one is really sad. His voice was trembling all the time. Anyway, his version of "My Way" in Elvis in Concert is the best I've ever listened, even better than in Aloha From Hawaii.
That's right! In one of the outtakes of the '77 show, he says "I know 3 chords believe it or not. But I faked 'em all for a long time. They'll catch me tonight".
You know what's so funny. It's bad, and yet its really not that bad. June 19 was a bad show, unlike June 21, which was a great show. See See Rider from June 19, however, was pretty good outside of the soundboard mix.
How Great Thou Art really is the only saving grace of this show. I think Elvis was on downers here, as he got really down as the show progressed. Unlike June 21, where he was high strung on something and moving very rapid.
@fgeorge76 You're right with your assessment. I believe he was also spoken to about his poor performance here after the show and hence he came out firing in Rapid City on 21 June. See See Rider is superb in Rapid City. He stopped mid-song to show who's boss again but he knew what he was told was true and hence the great performance two days later.
Sadly it was an over weight, tired, depressed and heavily medicated Elvis whom had problems just breathing and walking, that took the stage this night before tv cameras, for the first time in years. The poor man was in obvious pain. Despite all his personal problems, his tremendous talent and unparalled charisma shines through it all!
elvis' size has always been blown out of proportion, compared with people walking around today ,he was not obese.

What's so strange, I remember everyone talking about how large he got. Looking at this, he looks like an average sized guy today LOL.
