You would use it to boost your voice connection, as you say it would be pointless for data as you'd use your wifi for that

Lol at asking this but see one your iphone4s if you put your finger over one speaker (right one) do you notice that one only plays sound, I might have to take mine back but maybe one is for music and one is for notifications etc
