@natalinowerty Crows are very inteligent birds & i like to watch them. They are agricultrial pests though & in general a large number of Corvids is not a good thing for other wildlife.
@natalinowerty I realize that your probably not off the land but coming from experience crows are nasty evil birds. They will go up to an animal trapped in a dried up damn or riverbed and peck there eyes out while they are still alive and then leave. So even if you get the animal out it has to be put down anyway. Kill as many as you want i say
I NOTICED when you were using your call that you would sometimes use three calls in sequence like cawl, cawl, cawl. I have learned from listening to expert callers. and reading their articals, that this is a distress call to crows. crows have different voices. it doesn't matter what you sound like (as long has it's a crow) just don't do any sound in group of threes. this means "STAY AWAY"
Crow calling is fun and we have called for years. The fear not call is a nice middle range call...not top of the line, but a good one. If you want your calling to be more effective with that call, mix it up a bit. Blow faster and harder to sound like a crow in trouble and mix up the lengths of your blows. With practice, you can make that call sould like a small murder...you might also want to use a tree that will conseal you from above. Get against the base of it and see your numbers go up!
You cant make ANY crow call sound good just by blowing straight into it.. you need to learn the basica of game calls first.. air pressure, hand placement, and inflection. THEN you will be able to judge a good cal from a bad one... Watch a bunch of duck and goose calling vids to get a start.
That sounds like an "old" crow call...deeper in tone than most. It would be a great one to keep on hand to mix up your sounds. I usually run 3 reed crow calls and my Quaker boy call's are higher-pitched "young" sounding more so than the Primos brand which are a bit louder and slightly deeper in tone. I've had best luck with the Primos Old Crow. But...hell they all seem to call back blackbirds when used properly with a spread of dekes.

@drew15201 I found blowing too hard distorts the sound

@SDoutside I know but what do most people do when they buy their first call.
Just puff & see what happens & slowly learn how to use it.

I started off likeing this one very much then for whatever reason it went wrong (for me)
I had allready considered useing a couple of calls, high & low tone when I find those that work for me.
The Old Crow is in my top selection so far.
