here's something about making a generalized assertion in the positive... it takes one example to destroy your thesis. how about haiti? ruled by free-market policies for a couple centuries now and the poorest country in the americas... i repeat, small government, low taxes and poorest in the americas. somalia is minimal government, no taxes and poorest in africa... so your argument is destroyed and i hope you'll refrain from using it in the future.

@ufster81 Haiti is incomparable. It has not had a democratic government in power for decades. No ways was or is it ruled by free market policies. Again, Somalia has no government structures to protect private property and freedom of speech, etc. That goes for most African countries, regrettably. If you place Singapore on par with Guatemala, as I have done, 40 years ago, and/or any other westernized country, the example holds true - incontestably so. Small govt. + low taxes = prosperity for all.
