  • i was at this great game. I was 20 and let me tell you it was 2 great teams playing at Wrigley Field...Yes, Wrigley Field...And all the big stars at the time we're there..What a great time for Football ( soccer). ..MLS owe's everything to the old NASL...A great time..NASL killed itself. It became a league that got watered down with teams with no name players.....By the way the greatest goal of all time was scored by Ingo Peter, power rocket from 40 yrs out. I wish The Sting org, would post it.

  • Some of the greatest memories of my childhood was watching the Cosmos whenever they played and having season tickets with my father. There has never been anything like it.....beautiful soccer!!

  • 3:27 are you fucken serious are thos penalty's? and also frigginwoow says they don't have skill, they do but their level of play and the way the celebrate i could see why now U.S. has maintained a certain stereotype about american soccer and soccer in general

  • I have Birkenmeier, Bogicevic, Romero, Buljan, Durgan original old Cosmos jerseys. Who wants to buy? Go Cosmos!

  • Still amazed they played soccer at the Friendly Confines

  • Awesome Game! 2 of the BEST teams in the NASL. I wish it would have made it.

  • Who knew the Sting and the Cosmos would meet in the Soccer Bow three months later in Toronto?

  • I wish soccer would be that high of a scoring half the time.

  • THAT WAS LIQUID FOOTBALL

  • This is such a typical American soccer game, none of these players have any skill.

  • @frigginwoow You do know that (a) this was 30 years ago and (b) there were very few Americans actually PLAYING in the game, right?

  • @thecelebratedmisterk lol frigginwoow is an total idiot! Im german and i have watched the match NY Cosmos vs AS Rome and the Cosmos were the better team and the player Arno Steffenhagen was also capted for the german national team once.

I mean just look at the names: Pelé,Chinaglia, Beckenbauer,Marsh,C.Alberto,George Best,Neeskens,Cruyff etc. all these legends were playing in the NASL

  • @frigginwoow Yeah, because Chinaglia, Neeskens and Granitza never had any success whatsoever...not only in America, but in Europe also. Ignorant moron.

  • I was there....Wrigley Field...I was 9.....its funny how this game still sticks in my mind.

  • I will always remember this game! I worked for the Sting at the time and was up in the Press Box and it was my mom's birthday...quite a gift for her! It's so great to see this video to bring back all these great memories! Thanks for posting!

  • The Sting always had the Cosmos number. I had tickets for the first time they played at Giants Stadium Karl Heinz Granitza scored off a free kick in 2nd ot. But had the pleasure the following yr at the first time they met after the Sting won Soccer Bowl 81 to a Cosmos victory
